Said same thing and to think tool denied mtv when asked for them to play unplugged only reason they didn't is cause Maynard couldn't hide in the dark like a vampire.but this goes to show tool songs can work softer and acoustic.no drum machines no insane drum kit.danny carry is the one who carries the band and they gave him so many short solos in fear he fucking rocked.adam to fears way underrated punema is probably my all time fav tool song along with 7tempest descending invincible way underrated.but they let Danny lead. seemed they were revolved around him.this album had more jam sessions than all the albums combined.probably cause mjk his live voice is clearly aging he can get them super strong intense angry screams anmoree

I'm disappointed in myself for allowing 6 years to pass before I became aware of this cover. Impressive work guys.
My words! But better late than never. Came here last week and stayed since then for one, two or even three rounds a day!
Little late to the party, but dang was it worth it huh?
I don't have a grip on language tight enough to describe how this performance makes me feel but I think this is one of the absolute best depictions of why music is so special to the human animal. You take a song by Tool which, in and of itself, is a fantastic work of art but you aren't Tool, you aren't playing a stadium show, you didn't rent out a studio to record. You are just three incredibly talented and passionate people that got together on a rooftop and played something that means a lot to you all and it is all the more impressive for it.
I don't have an audiophile setup by any means but with open backed headphones, I can hear all of the detail with the city background, fingers sliding on strings, and it makes me thankful that music is ubiquitous and universal to us all. This cover has left more of a mark on me personally than so many other "more successful" acts. The objective measures of success have little to do with the subjective FEELING that music gives us and three dudes on a rooftop in Bangalore have perfectly proven that.
Beautifully said.
Yes! You perfectly encapsulated exactly how I feel about this recording. Never fails to make me teary & get goosebumps. It’s a thing of beauty.
You have a tighter grip than stated.

I honestly enjoy this version of this song better than I do the original. And I can only say that about one other song, which is Hurt. Trent Reznor done by Johnny Cash.
Cash's cover of hurt was a masterclass in how to take a great piece and turn it up to eleven. This isn't far off. Metal as fuck.
The background noise of the dog and cars gives this so much more atmosphere, love it even if it wasn’t intentional

Good grief, boys, how did I JUST FIND YOU? That was great! I first saw Tool at Lolapalooza 2 in 1993, when I was 18, and I have been a fan ever since. Your acoustic guitar version of this song is so wonderful - those of us who have loved Tool for the last 30 years have loved this song as one of Tool’s early, angry outcries against all the obvious (to us) vices and foibles of the human race. (Being a teenager, that message rang so emotionally true to me I used it as an outlet for my own personal angst and fury, of course. 😉) As an adult, your version speaks to me on an entirely different level - a dirge for those who will spend their lives refusing to understand human nature; a prayer that begs man to forgive each other. Thank you so much for your beautiful take on a classic. 💖👍

That's just the string vibration syncing with the framerate of the camera.
I believe it's due to the camera's rolling shutter ☺
The fact that this is recorded live in one of the busiest cities in the world is mind boggling - Amazing
The dogs barking behind the scenes is just perfect ambience for the song... Giving imersion in the lyrics as a result from "not cutting it all right in two, and now we came to this scenario" after the creation. Gorgeous
It also plays into the whole theme of humanity being a bunch of greedy bastards and the monkeys killing monkeys over pieces of the ground

It's a double bass, it even says so in the description. You also play a cello more like a violin than a giant bass guitar, but I can't remember the name of that stick they use...
