Today I am getting back in the gym after a couple of very hard and stressful weeks at work. Last week I pretty much crashed and only lifted on Monday. There are also a few topics discussed during today's session.

Friday 11/29/2024 Silent Workout - First After Being Stuffed! 🦃
Переглядів 190Місяць тому
This is a mostly silent workout. My bar weighs 47 pounds and my plates are all 0.5 to 1.25 pounds heavier than stated. This is different than the school gym where everything is slightly underweight. This means that for benching the 275 that I did today is actually 280! this is a new PR! I have never done 275 before.

      That third rep was slow, but there was no chance of failing it even if it looked that way. The safties were set just in case. All I have to do is go down to parallel and lean forward a bit. I have tested the settings with just the bar to get them dialed in perfectly.

      These knives are a neat gift! A 405 bench is really good! I don't know if I'll ever get there. I'll be happy with 315. Even though my shoulders don't bother me in everyday life they do get aggravated by bench and I have to go slow to keep them happy.

      Thanks! I think the last rep looked worse than how it felt. There was no question of making the rep even though it looked slow on the video. Like I said you have to look at the overall trend, not any specific day or week. It will get there in time. I take bench pretty slow to keep my shoulders happy. I'm slowly working in a few days with a bit more volume. Some volume is needed along with more intense days.

    there is a lot that goes into the squat. Lots of body mechanics. Some can do the more straight back, some not so much. I have tried and tried to keep more upright. It wasnt going to happen unless i squatted on my smith machine. Like ive mentioned before, you can lean into the smith machine all day long and stay upright. BUT free weights are way different. I worked on them for a LONG time. I even gave up trying to get to depth before. BUT i kept fighting. NOW im getting to depth but I will bend for sure..BUT super happy with my progress. AND you'll get your goal soon too..

      There is a lot that goes on. Squats are such a complicated movement. A couple weeks ago I fixed one of the students squats. He had his heels coming up off of the floor and ended up on his toes at one point during every rep. In about 10 minutes he was doing a near perfect squat. The mechanics can be a little different for each person.

    • @LCKStrengthTraining
      @LCKStrengthTraining Місяць тому

      I usually go up to 405 without straps. I could probably get the workout done with reverse grip, but I don't want to have to focus on grip when doing sets. The other issue is that double overhand grip is the safest way to deadlift and there is no way that I could do a top set overhand without straps. They are very easy to use. Next week I'll explain how they are used.

      I hate when my hair is long enough to require brushing! The Jack isn't cheating......it's using your brains! 🧠🤯🧠 Slow and steady works. Squats and deads are going up 5 pounds a week for sets of 5. That isn't bad! 380X5 tomorrow!

      @@thebodybeatdownDiTi I had found a gif of Homer Simpson with a banana dancing inside his head for brains. I wanted to put that in the post, but it is not supported in the comments! If I get 380X5 today the rep max calc says that is a 427.5 one rep max. Usually I can do a little better than what the calculator says.

      I hadn't done skullcrushers in a long time. I need to be doing some extra triceps work to help bench. The chinups hit biceps pretty hard. What you didn't see was the cardio.....I'm ready for a nap now! 😴
