I loved this movie. Sometimes, the mysteries of the universe should stay mysterious.

The whole section from 3:56-5:42 is just gorgeous w/ only Phil's vocal & the piano. I don't know if it's the memories it brought back to my mind of the times I used to listen to this tune as a kid, or the composition itself, or the simple arrangement here, or a combination of all of that, but that section gave me chills. Beautiful.....Cheers! 👍😎🎹

Any pianist here that can tell me which fingers are you using on the 25 bar. that jump from Ab Bb to F G Ab G Bb. I use 1 1 2 3 4 3 5. Its the best I found but still weird, maybe theres another way. ty

Agreed, one of the best Genesis tracks. Not playable, but nice try anyhow. Pity that they didn't continue with more complex songs but instead turned to Collins commercial crap. Ripples is another favorite.

I had to learn this by ear amongst other deep tracks for ABACAB (an American based Genesis tribute band out of North Carolina), long before you started doing transcriptions. Other than the “Selling England” album, trying to find the correct sheet music anywhere from the 1970-1980 era was next to impossible. I only wished these existed 5+ years ago as it would have made my learning so much easier. My interpretation was not far off from your exactness from painstaking research and listening. Glad you are doing this, which allows me to finally compare notes-pun intended. Thank You.

Is there anyway to see this played where i can see what keys are being pressed? I find it easier to learn that way rather than sheet music and it’s one Genesis song I have always wanted to learn

This is so well done. I must have watched it back when you posted it but I'm appreciating now all the additions that are not strictly Banks. You managed to pack in all the key parts with your piano arrangement and just a few overdubs. The choice of Grand Piano for the song is marvelous and it highlights the quality of the composition. If some people want to listen it with synth or mellotronish sounds they can always go back to the original. Once again, thanks for your work.

I am also a piano tracher now, but none of my students know, let alone want to play, Genesis. 14 years ago I played Undertow and other stuff at a party for fun, one guy approached me and said: what album is that Genesis tune on you played? Its so nice. He was of course Italian. At least one country where they have some taste.

A great piece of music. Parts of it really remind me of The Persuaders' theme tune. Bars 128 and 129 especially. I then found out John Barry is a big influence on Mr Banks.
