Kids are dumb. What they say about the brain not fully maturing till mid 20's is true in the realm of making good value-judgments, let alone the lack of life experience, is true, I'd know as I'm barely out of there at 22. She made the biggest mistake turning her back on her mother, especially one that cared so much and was betrayed already. At least the daughter managed to begin to see through that familial garbage, maybe years down the line this would be a lesson that' she'd regret her whole life learning but be glad to have corrected. She'll have this regret to motivate her to make amends. Finally she managed to decode that the only reason that her mother would do something that'd be perceived as 'absurdly hostile' is because she was actually hurt. I'm glad the mother managed to say her own piece to snap those morons out of their delusions that she'd just be emotionally ok with these betrayals. Spoiled kids always take a good mother for granted, it's the Dad's fault. A sweet mother always defaults to her child, and if the father let's the brat walk over her he's not doing the kid any favours. The kid'll eventually realise it and probably hate him/herself once they realise they only every had the one mother, who might not have been perfect, but if she were anywhere close to good was a blessing in of herself.

Going to buck the trend here and say yes OP is the AH. Is it understandable to be upset? Yes she had every right to be upset, but she revealed something her husband told her in confidence out of spite without and regard for the repercussions for him. A husband who has defended her, stood up for her, who has shown he is willing to listen and stay on her side. She just didn't have a single care about her husband who again has shown to be a good husband and partner.
