    Did you just use grams on the scale? If so, did it equal exactly the amount that was squeezed out of the tube ? My scale lies to me I swear! 😅

    • @TheReelRae
      @TheReelRae 6 днів тому

      Sometimes it’s off a little but it might just be that the tube was able to hold a little more than the manufacturer thought ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I typically measure in ounces- for liquid and for the color out the tube.

    Hi Rae! Great videos! I am about to try highlighting to blend my grays and virgin dark brown hair. I tried some test strands, they were a bit thick. But didn't process to a pale yellow it seems. My hair seems quite resistant. I used 20 vol and left it on the hair (in a foil) for 1.5hrs and got a golden shade. My question is, how long can I safely process my resistant, virgin hair in order to get a pale yellow (I want to tone it ashy to match my grays). I really don't want much warmth if I can help it! Or, can I bleach a 2nd time with 10 vol to lighten it to a pale yellow on the same day before toning? I have a cap and foils. Still deciding which way I'll go. Thanks so much for your time! Ps. I think my hair is about a natural level 5 maybe between that and a 4, hard to tell!

    My hairdresser suggested a 'shampoo cap' to help open my hair follicles to grab onto more hair dye. My hair is pink but fading and will not grab much color anymore. Is this process the same?

    • @TheReelRae
      @TheReelRae Місяць тому

      Yes! Freshly bleached hair will absorb more of those fun colors! Since fashion colors are not mixed with developer they don't have anything to help push them into the hair. Which is why that pre-opened/freshly bleached hair absorbs better. You could also try doing a darker shade of pink? What did ya'll end up doing?

    • @rileysherman3497
      @rileysherman3497 Місяць тому

      I haven't actually done anything yet since I wasn't sure how to go about it. I have been trying to watch a ton of videos and reaching out to people (with little luck). The pink is supposed to be an almost slightly dilute bubblegum pink. Right now it is a bleached looking blonde with some hints of pink where it will still pick up from my conditioner ha. I'm nervous of damaging my hair so trying to get all the info

    • @TheReelRae
      @TheReelRae Місяць тому

      @@rileysherman3497 it looks like the brand pulp riot (color) is available for purchase via Amazon. I really like this brand. You could try applying this at home. It does not need developer and is conditioner based so no worries about damage! Apply to clean, dry hair in small sections making sure to saturate thoroughly. Process at least 30min but it can sit for however long, as it is conditioner based. When you rinse, don't shampoo just rinse with cool water until the water runs clear. ** When you say bleach blonde are we talking like white blonde, or is there some yellow or orange still in the mix? If it has some yellow or orange you will just want to go darker to cover. Fashion color is like a stain, so if your hair isn't light enough for the shade you apply then it wont show up. *As always with my advise, when is doubt do a test strand! I hope that helps. Keep me posted!

    • @rileysherman3497
      @rileysherman3497 Місяць тому

      More white than yellow but this is not freshly bleached, so my roots are showing. The pink on 80% of my hair has seemed to wash out almost perfectly whereas it still picks up on the rest. Which is why my hairdresser was curious about a bleach cap, but I was worried about doing too much bleaching (if that makes sense).

    Loved your explanation ☝️on the Developers and with your help I have it all down 🙂 Thank you 🙏🫶🏻🙂 I kinda had an idea. You explained it to where I understood it more clearly, YeY! I’ve been watching videos only because trying to take matters into my own hands, in doing my own hair. Unfortunately, have had bad experiences going to the salons and besides even if I found a place I was laid off from work and can’t afford $$ it right now. My situation is that I have a little root growth with little grey, I would say Im a natural level 6, trying to get to a level 7 but Not ashy. I like the darker root effect. I’m having difficulty selecting the color with my volume 20 developer. Confused about NA, N, NN, etc. I tend to pick up red undertones. Don’t want too dark of root also don’t want Ash .. want it to look natural because summer around the corner don’t want to be too dark towards my root but trying to stay close to my natural root color.. I currently have like 2 inches hair growth on top of my head if that helps to know. From previous color and highlights, Mid shaft and bottom of my hair is like a level 8 and more towards the tip I see like lévels 9 more like the tip of my hair. Not sure if I should bleach with a volume l0 (mild) to lift the root area and perhaps deposit the color with a level 20? Or should I just apply the color without lifting my root area? Also, I have fine hair if that helps to know as well. I’m just having difficulty in selecting the correct hair shade 😭👀 natural, i have no no clue 🧐🙄 again I tend to pickup red undertones. Seems crazy and confusing all of this. But that is my dilema 😢 trying to accomplish this for today. Also will be going to Sallys to purchase my hair color. Any suggestions? 🙂 Thank you kindly and hope you see this message ~ Lisa 🌺🍃

    hey! so i used the l’oréal hi colour with 30 volume to dye my hair copper and it’s great! but when my roots grow out and the colour washes out a bit, should I use 20 volume for my ends and 30 volume for my roots? or should I use 10 volume for my ends? because I don’t want to brighten my already dyed hair, I just want to refresh the colour! thank you :)

    • @TheReelRae
      @TheReelRae Місяць тому

      I would apply the 30vol to roots, let it process then when you go to rinse do a partial rinse and squish that root color (now diluted with water) on the ends and let it sit for like 5-10min. Or find a gloss/demi-perm version of the same color and use that on the ends. This is like a WAYYY late response, so you have probably already touched it up. What did you end up doing and how did it turn out?

    • @TheReelRae

      They look gray because they are overtoned unless the person wants that color. That's why you keep check so you can get the time you want. Wheh this does happen some clarifying shampoo and several washes can get rid of the grayish colors.

      They did get very silver! My guess is that they were super absorbent because I applied the toner to dry hair and then let it process for the full 30 minutes. Thanks for watching and the feedback!

    Should I be applying to dry hair?

      Dry hair will absorb more evenly and just more in general because it is not being diluted with water. That being said, we tone damp hair in the salon all the time.

    Thank you! I want curious as to whether I could use any shampoo or just clarifying shampoo. You definitely answered that question.

      You could use any. I usually buy the cheapest stuff for bleach washing. Because it doesn’t make sense to use my expensive shampoo for this process.

    Agree with previous post. Soft instrumental jazz or piano would be far more pleasant.
