  • Round two using the Wella Color Charm toners to tone Susan. This time I applied the Wella toner 8A, T10, T11, T14, T18, and 050 once her hair was lifted to a light yellow instead of the orange from the previous toning video. If you missed that video or the foil video where we lifted her hair to a light yellow the links are below! I hope this helps you on your home hair journey!

    These comparisons are great, but can I suggest that you keep the sections separate so that the reveal is more evident? The transformation is kind of noticeable, but it would be helpful to really see the differences in the 10-12 shades you're applying. Maybe you could keep the sections clipped off with rubberbands or use another mannequin? Just a thought and suggestion. Again, great work.

    Thanks for this video, so helpful! What combo of Wella toners would you recommend for hair that is at the right level but came out oranger than expected?

    • @TheReelRae

      Thanks for watching and the feedback! So my first thought is that if your still seeing orange the hair has not been lifted to the amount that these Wella toners are designed for, which is pale yellow. I do have a video, which I will leave a link to below, where I used these same toners on Susan when she was more orange than yellow and it did help some, which means on an actual persons head it would probably be even more helpful. That being said, my advise, without seeing your hair is to use a level 8 or 9 A (ash) or I believe Wella makes 8AA and 9 AA (which should be double ash meaning double the orange fighting power.) I am still learning the Wella color line but the color wheel is true for all color lines- Yellow/purple Orange/Blue Red/green- just don't forget that blue and yellow will make green! I hope this is helpful! Let me know what other questions you have or if you have any future content requests!

    I just toned my hair with t14 because I had hot roots after bleaching them and the rest of my “much blonder” hair turned grey. However, it did a wonderful job at killing the brass from my roots so I’m wondering if next time I should only tone my roots.

    • @TheReelRae
      @TheReelRae  3 роки тому +2

      So your roots turned out the correct color but the rest of your hair turned silver b/c it was blonder and more porous, right? I would make sure that next time you do a bleach touch up make sure that your don't overlap those lighter pieces with the bleach. Then when you tone apply to roots and then maybe smoosh is around with a little water for a couple minutes right before rinsing. Does this answer your question? Also I did a video about a color cleanse where you mix a little bleach powder, water, and shampoo- this might helps pull that silver out if it's too silver for you. (but it will probably fade to a more natural looking blonde after a few washes regardless)

    Do you apply toner when hair is wet or dry after bleaching and washing?

      My thoughts: Toning on dry hair will give you a more even and saturated result, however, it can be done on wet/towel-dried hair. In the salon, I do most of my toning on towel-dried hair for time management reasons, and since I have access to a full-color bar I can formulate it in a way that compensates for the water dilution aspect. BUT...The technical answer is to follow the manufacturer's instructions. Hope this helps!

    Going to tone. Should i do it on damp or dry hair?

    • @TheReelRae
      @TheReelRae  Місяць тому

      Dry hair will absorb more evenly and more of the color because it is not being diluted with water. That being said we tone damp hair in the salon all the time. When in doubt you can do a test strand. What did you end up doing and how did it turn out?

      Per the instructions on the Wella Color Charm- I used 20 volume- double developer to color mix.
      Thanks for watching!

      My thoughts: I have not but you could! The T18 has a Violet base and T11 is Gold-Violet. The result would more than likely be close to neutral blonde- if applied to a pale yellow blonde. I bet it would be pretty! I will add this to my ongoing list for future content! Did you end up doing that, if so how did it turn out?
      Thanks for watching!

    Whats lighter t10 or t 18

    • @TheReelRae
      @TheReelRae  Рік тому +2

      I think its T18(lightest ash blonde) - it's main pigment is violet to help counteract those yellow vs T10 (Pale blonde) which is violet-blue so it is able to counteract some orange or just give a more ash effect. Ashier colors tend to look darker because they absorb light where as the warmer ones reflect light. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
      P.s- new content coming soon :)
