  • THIS VIDEO IS A COPY OF A PREVIOUS VIDEO I HAVE POSTED BUT WITH LOWER BACKGROUND MUSIC. My goal was to delete the background music but apparently when I backed up the original video part of my file did not save. So I have done my best to edit this copy to make the background music more balanced!
    Here is a quick guide to choosing the correct hair color developer AKA hydrogen peroxide for your DIY Home Hair color project! This will help you to feel more confident going to your local beauty supply store to chose a custom hair color/dye so that you can ditch that box color! In this video, I go over what 5 volume developer, 10 volume developer, 20 volume developer, 30 volume developer, and 40 volume developer are made to do. I also share my favorite go-to developers are for bleach and permanent hair color/hair dye.
    *** One thing I did not mention was the difference between cream and liquid developer- typically it's just a matter of what consistency you prefer to work with. They should both perform the same way. That being said, just read the information on your tube of color to see if that particular brand prefers you to use one or the other!
    If you're new here, WELCOME!!! I'm Rae- I am a professional hairstylist so a lot of my content is hair/beauty related! Additionally, I do a weekly whimsical Wednesday video that is more in the lifestyle category and is whatever fun uplifting subject that my heart desires. I hope you enjoy the video! Let me know either way so that I can make sure to put out future videos based on your enjoyment! Thanks For Watching!

    I bought some "Ion 20 volume developer for sensitive scalp" but have not purchased any bleach yet. Do you have any recommendations for mostly a dark grey hair but with all silver on top? It's never been bleached. My plan is to color it with Ion's permanent pink and purple. Also, I have been watching a lot of hair pros (Brad Mondo and Hair Buddha), trying to get as much information as I can, I do not want to destroy my hair or get burned scalp.
    I'd sure like to see you do videos of people getting their hair being treated. Watching it being done is much more helpful, to me anyway.
    Thank you for your videos, I hope you make more!🥰

      I would need some more information on your hair to be able to recommend better :( but since I am so late getting back to you, what did you end up doing and how did it work out? I will add your suggestion about videos of me doing clients' hair to my ongoing video idea list! Thank you for watching and for the feedback!

New content is coming soon, and I will do my absolute best to reply more promptly going forward. I am also going to 10000% put the music and volume feedback to good use in my future content. Plus, I have a new microphone that I am very excited about. This unfortunately does not help my previous videos, and as far as I can tell once I have uploaded a video to UA-cam I cannot adjust the music and sounds :( I appreciate your watching and your feedback. I hope you will give me another chance on future videos!

    I have virgin black hair. I want to dye my hair cinnamon brown, should I use 20 or 30 vol?

      If not, then I would probably use 30 vol to give it a little extra kick, pending hair health and all that.
      Thank you for watching and commenting! What did you end up using and how did it turn out?

    Hello,I was wandering if ion icy white toner will cover a light golden color hair

    • @TheReelRae
      @TheReelRae  3 роки тому +1

      Hey Sherry! I have not played with that toner yet but I will add it to my list of products to try out! I don't think it will cover golden hair but from what I read on the package it says it helps to reduce brassy tones- It looks like you can also purchase an add on pastel to help bump up the amount of pigment to help reduce warmth. I would recommend doing a small test strand before applying to your entire head to make sure you are happy with the results. I hope this helps! Let me know how it turns out! Thanks for watching and commenting! :)

    What is the difference between 10C and 10L developers?

    • @TheReelRae
      @TheReelRae  Місяць тому

      The consistency. Cream vs Liquid and which you prefer to work with. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching and commenting. 🙂

    I have bleached my hair once and did 2 bleach washes within the last month. Im ready to tone my hair. I have yellowish orangeish hair. I bought t27 and i have 30 developer. Do you think it would be okay to use 30 developer?

    • @TheReelRae
      @TheReelRae  2 роки тому

      Monica, So sorry for the delayed response! I had a roof/mold crisis. Idk if you have already toned your hair- but I would not recommend using 30 vol- that's pretty abrasive. Depending on how your hair is feeling I might do another round of bleaching with a low volume developer then tone with a low volume developer. The more of that orange you can lift out the easer it will be to tone. Again- SO SO sorry about this delayed response- It has been a crazy month- but I am back to quicker response times. Thank you for watching and commenting! Let me know if I can help with anything else!

    So I'm planning to dye my hair again after a week because my hair remained the same (it's jet black ) after dying it. So I planned to dye it again with loreal hicolor soft auburn. I wanted to know that should I use the 30 or 40 developer to lighten my hair?

      My thoughts: That's wild. Maybe you got a bad batch of color and developer. It's hard to say without more information. However, for the redo application I would do a test strand in the back, since you had applied color to it, there is a possibility that it won't do much. Color won't lift color. I am super curious about what you ended up doing and how it turned out!?

    hello, I have orange hair, I dyed it 3 months ago with brown shampoo and the color remains, the orange color doesn't come off at all, I've never dyed it with general colors, only twice with color shampoo, but now I wanted to dye my white hair with the color 8.1, which hydrogen can you tell me to use, I want to remove this color, if you help me tell me, I am very grateful to you👍🏼

    • @TheReelRae
      @TheReelRae  11 місяців тому

      A couple of questions: What is your natural color? How did it end up orange, like was that one of the tinted shampoos you used? What color line are you planning on using for the 8.1?

      @@TheReelRae My natural hair was very white, I had a very good color, but after using the shampoo it turned brown and when the brown color disappeared, it turned orange, it didn't disappear at all, and I wanted to ask how I can do my hair . again. white and which hydrogen to use

      In general I think 20vol is a safe bet. You could try a couple of things to remove the orange. Here are my ideas: •use a clarifying shampoo and let it sit on your hair for like 30min intervals, a plastic cap will help keep you from being too drippy. •use hair bleach mixed with water only- no developer- on wet hair- watch your color and remove when you feel it’s pulled the orange out. When I’ve used this technique it typically only takes a couple minutes. ✴️ both techniques will be drying so make sure to use a nice hydrating hair mask/deep conditioner after. •You can also just try putting the hair color you have selected on your hair- •you can buy a clear color from a permanent hair color line and mix it with 20 or 30 vol- we use this technique in the salon (typically with 30vol) to remove fashion colors. ✴️ for both of these options you can try just doing a small section in the back if you want to make sure it works the way you want before applying to your entire head. • if you’re worried about doing any or all you can always go to a salon and get it taken care of there.
      I hope this helps! Let me know what you end up doing and how it works! Remember that I’m
      giving advice without seeing or feeling your hair so do whatever you are the most comfortable with!
