I have bleach powder and developer and it asks me for a 1:1.5 - 1:2 ratio but can i use for example 10g of bleach powder and then 15 up to 20 ml of developer or does developer not measure in the way that water does? I'm so confused

I typically leave it on the same unit for the bleach powder and developer. I like to use ounces for this type and grams for the ones that plug into the wall because I think that that the battery makes it slower to read the small differences between grams but when I do ounces you get the decimals for more accuracy. I hope that makes sense. So to answer your actual question, if I am using grams I would do 40g of bleach powder to 40-80 grams of developer. Most of the time, when working with bleach, you are mixing to get your preferred consistency. I like thicker for foiling and thinner for all over application.

How do you account for the difference in density?

My thoughts: I don't think that, for what we are doing, the change in the density of products affects the weight and thus the end result. I have been doing hair for 16 years now and have never once considered density related to measuring hair color and developer. I could be wrong and am always excited to grow and learn. So if someone knows something I don't please share!!!

Did you just use grams on the scale? If so, did it equal exactly the amount that was squeezed out of the tube ? My scale lies to me I swear! 😅

Sometimes it’s off a little but it might just be that the tube was able to hold a little more than the manufacturer thought ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I typically measure in ounces- for liquid and for the color out the tube.

Liquid oz is the same as volume oz?

It measures out the same. Or at least I have not had any issues measuring in this way.

So for both it should be 40.0?!

For what I was doing yes, always follow mixing instructions per the manufacturer.
