Yo this video helped a lot. Thank you for showing the mixam web app for arranging the pages! I wasn't really sure about ordering the pages correctly for the cover and this helped me quite a bit.
I'm starting work on a zine to print with Mixam, designing in InDesign. Can you talk about if you did anything different for the cover pages? Where did you put those in the page order?
That's exciting, congrats! More details are here: ua-cam.com/video/3_bpmjk_uLA/v-deo.html I didn't do anything different for the cover pages, and made them the same paper weight. Page order, just standard order (front cover = page 1, back cover = last page). Might be different for other platforms, but this was for Mixam and you can preview the page order after you upload the PDF too.
Yo bro your vlogs look amazing! I'm thinking downgrading from the A7iv to the a6700 soon was all of this footage straight out the camera or you used a lut?
Appreciate you! I typically shooting S-Log3 and then either use my own LUTs (joonrho.com/shop/p/base-lut-sony-s-log3), Phantom LUTs, or grade manually through CSTs.
How can I buy one?
Haha much love bro! We'll meet up soon
Very cool!
Thank you!
Do you think macbook pro 14inch m1 pro 32gb ram 512gb can render 4k 10bit 422 xavc s or hs video without proxy? I'm planning to buy this
Keep it up
А это обзор первой a 7ii?
Это потрясный выпуск что тут сказать
Nothing wrong at all with using this camera body in 2024 and beyond! 😊
What’s included in 1 round of revision? How many changes is in 1 revision?
I got a Canon 5D3 for a very long time. I got M-P 240 7 years ago, and I never really used it ...... but recently I started to learn how to use it, and it was fun. I'm using a 35mm lens, and I have a question, how could I find some good 35mm photos for learning?
Thank you very much for this video! I was going to buy an NT5 but I saw from your video that it really isn't the sound I want for voice.
thank you for this! I love my 240 and I will use it until the shutter gives up. and even then, I might have it repaired!
Appreciate your time :) Yeah I have a feeling I might just end up getting it repaired haha just hoping my eyesight will still be serviceable at that time 🥹
Congrats on your first zine! It looks great and really like how you put this review together 👏
Thank you so much Track Club!
awesome, what way are you editing the Raws? are you using a preset ?
Much appreciated! I'm playing with a few looks I made in Lightroom and saved as personal presets
solid review....beautifully done...thanks....
Thanks for this video! I have M-P 240 and been shooting many personal projects with it. Lately I've been thinking if should upgrade and get the M 10 or 11. After seen your video I decided not to upgrade but keep my 240 and use the money for creating new photo projects.
That's awesome to hear! Looking forward to seeing the projects. Feel free to share any time!
I believe the shutter drop is due to the focal length multiplier for shutter combined with gating the ISO fairly conservative. I have ISO max at 6400 and my auto iso shutter set to 1/500 to 1/250 (nyc street is FAST ha) and it never dips. But yeah, M240 is my long term camera purchased in 2024 as well. Its honestly pretty perfect. I get why people need more but those of us who don't are pretty lucky- cause this camera is a joy!
Holy shit I think you've nailed it! Thank you haha I'm going to play around with this a bit more. I definitely need to experience that NYC speed some day haha I feel like I'll probably get overwhelmed. Congrats on the M240! You summed it up perfectly :) Definitely lucky we don't need more!
I often use Xavc HS 420 10 bit 30mb , it can take a hard grade and again looks similar to 422 or S-I
Thank you for your detailed performance reporting based on actual, real-world usage of the A6700. I, too, believe this is an outstanding camera value for any family or amateur photographer, especially if you're just starting out. You're getting essentially the very latest Sony technology from even their higher level full frame cameras in terms of auto-focus, picture and video quality and colour algorithms, etc. In short, you're basically getting an A7V, but with a crop sensor and only 1 card slot. As an amateur photographer who has had an A6000 since 2014, I can tell you that with APS-C, you are missing the full frame look and the higher level of detail and resolution that I regret not having for my travel pics, particularly of landscapes, having made use of the panoramic function especially. In short, for video and sharing pictures that will always be viewed on a monitor or TV, the value proposition of the A6700 can't be beat. The fact that you can also get incredible bird photos, due to the inherent additional crop factor of APS-C, and the availability of excellent telephoto lenses like the Sony FE 200-600 (full frame), makes this especially good for that. But if you want to take pictures that you might want to blow up and print to put on your wall, you will want an full frame format camera. I'm currently considering moving up to the Sony A7c II to get a full frame camera in a similar sized camera body to my A6000, but with the BIONZ XR processing chip in the A7RV/A6700. I think this will be my ideal camera for a while.
I read the title of your video and I realized that my need and desire to go out with my camera was my way of taking care of my mental health. When I don't spend time on the weekend filmmaking I feel like I'm still carrying the weight of all past weeks stress into the next week. But after spending time shooting with my camera, I feel inner peace and ready to take on the next week. Last weekend my time was spent doing things for my family. Sunday night I realized that everyone was happy because their needs were met but I was still feeling stressed and not at peace with myself. I realized that I must take time to care for myself.
Much love. Hope you take the time for yourself next weekend! I feel you on the inner peace after a solid day of shooting. Clears things up a bit doesn't it?
@@boywithacamera yes, it does.
Can't wait to see it in person!
Maybe it’s time to use the a6700 more ahaha
Haha give it some more love! (I want a Pocket 3 and micro panel because of you thanks)
There is overheating in photography? I want to use this camera for 2 or 3 hour sessions with street photography. Thank you for your answer, great video.
Mine only gets hotter when shooting video for a long time. Photography you should be absolutely fine. :)
Oh snap it's Suki ❤🔥
She's great!
Great video, do you have a workflow for slog 3 in a6700? Thanks
Thanks! Do you mean how I expose when shooting and how I grade it?
@@boywithacamera Yes, I saw another video of yours to set slog2 and how you expose it. Do you have something similar with slog 3. Thanks for responding.
Ah, gotcha! I don't have a video ready yet, but I'll probably work on one soon. It's similar to how I expose S-Log2. I set my zebras to around 95 and expose as high as I can. In post, I bring down the exposure and use one of the LUTs I made. Hope that helps in the meantime :)
This is super similiar to how I eq my xm8500, especially in the top end. I would say your bass boost is too much, just leave the high pass on and 214hertz dip. The bump it creates already acts as a boost to the ear. You can set the Q differently to raise the bump closer to 0db, but not more then that. (not a professional) You are wrong about the human voice however lol. Bass voices typically go down to 80 hertz, and 54 hertz is common for low bass's. But some low bass singers go down to like 30. The bulk of my regular talking voice is around 75 As far as I know you want to watch the equalizer graphic and see where the first low end bumps are when you talk. The center of that is where you make the dip. And high pass everything before your lowest bump
Thanks for the helpful tips and info on human voice! I'll have to try that next time. Last time I checked, DaVinci doesn't have any way to view an equalizer graphic. Do you use another software?
@@boywithacamera Yeah I use the VST's that come with reaper. they are super old school though
@@boywithacamera Alternativley, the lowest note you can hold would be where your "lowest bump" is
I jusst bought my first Sony camera, and your video popped out on my feed! Thank you so much, it was so helpful and easy to comprehend!
Glad to hear! Thanks for watching :)
M240/ VM 35 Ultron ii have the same combo. At 67 I see the power of limitation. Like Bruce Lee said, "I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times."
I really love your content and perspective. It's a breath of fresh air. Please continue to share your thoughts because your ideas unlock something for me. Cheers!
Much appreciated Bryan, thank you! 🙏
Love this video! had the MP-240 for a while and now have an m262 with 28mm summicron. kinda miss the 240 tho haha. How do you get things in focus that are farther away, but not necessarily infinity? do you use the distance scale? always had trouble with that haha.
I was looking at the 262 as well but couldn't find any on my local used market! I have trouble with that as well and trying to improve haha. I'm slowly getting used to focusing to infinity and pulling back a bit, which seems to be working :)
I've been a working photographer for 52 years and a Leica shooter for 35. Two years ago I sold my M8 and M9 and found a mint M-P Type 240 with less than 250 shutter actuations. I have gorilla hands and the camera fits me perfectly. For me it is the perfect camera. It's battery life is incredible, the images exquisite. I will never sell it. You made a very good choice. Cheers!
The M-P240 is my daily tool, and It was brand new, when I bought it some six years ago. I've a M240 too. The booth fit me as a press photographer. Enjoy your M-P 240 and keep on rolling!
i am in a quandary between the a6700 or the fuji x-s20. photo 60% video 40%. your thoughts?
I can't say for sure as I haven't used the Fuji x-s20, but if you're leaning towards photo, I would say go for Fuji. They seem to be making a ton of progress on the video side of things (though I'm not sure what their IBIS is like now) and offer a much better photo experience in my opinion. Hope that helps!
Good video. M240 owner here and i love it.
Why my A7C doesnt have "stabilize clip" option? its greyed out... is there any setup that i need to do to activate the gyro data?
i used to do photo walks every night during lockdown (this was when restrictions were kinda lifted with people allowed to go outside by themselves in 2021). my mental health improved a lot from the cardio, but i also ended up losing mad weight... like 45lbs 💀. i don't do them much anymore, but it really was therapeutic (i was surprised when my professor told us that the many therapist actually prescribe long walks now).
45lbs is wild! Photo walks are definitely a huge source of cardio for me lately though I've proper overcompensated on the diet side of things so I might have gained weight instead haha. Interesting note by your professor, thank you for sharing! Hope you can find the time to go on a walk some time :)
"Promo SM"
im getting this as my first camera and cant decide if i should get the sony 16-50, sigma 18-50 or the sony 18-135?
If you're just starting out the kit lens (16-50) would be a great place to start to get a feel for what you like. If you want to start with a lens, the Sigma 18-50 would be my choice as it has a constant f2.8 aperture. Cheers!
@@boywithacamera How about the 16mm sigma ?
Thanks for this video! Photography used to be a dear hobby of mine, but I hardly do it anymore… It often feels like there are so many other things to do. But you definitely inspired me to grab my cam and go on a photo walk! 🙃
I feel the same way with life's seemingly endless list of priorities! It takes effort to get out there for sure, but very worth it. Thank you for sharing and hope you enjoy your walk!
If that is not a camera you are enjoy to use, whitch one is?
For video I think I have a soft spot for the Blackmagic pocket cameras and for photography, I'm loving the hell out of the Leica M-P 240
Photo walks are one of my main keys to better mental health. I like the idea of having a goal with your photos in the end that makes the post-production side more engaging. I only edit a handful of the best photos each year to put together a little calendar for the next year. Editing post-production with photo and video is such a valued skill right now that I still am mainly stuck at the computer handling those types of projects, but getting out with camera in hand is much more fulfilling in my world.
Appreciate you, Colin. We need to go on a photo walk together! The idea of putting together a calendar sounds great. It would really force you to choose your favourites. I feel you on the post-production side of things too--a blessing and a (somewhat) curse!
Awesome photo/video/review vlog!
Thank you Peter!
Thanks a lot for your detailed walkthrough for your three shoots. I'm considering upgrading from my ZVE 10 to the 6700 to vlog. Do you mind sharing - how was the stabilization with the active steady shot for you, is it good enough for vlogging? I ask because I have PTSD from the ZVE10s terrible stabilization and my sore gimbal arm, so I'm considering getting the ZVE1 just to get the dynamics stabilization but it's a lot more expensive and then I'd have to upgrade my lenses to full frame. The a6700 has pretty good stabilization I probably will just get that but there's actually not a ton of footage I've seen yet on it.
I feel you on the sore arm! For what it's worth, all the footage in the third gig in this video was shot handheld with the default IBIS settings (standard I believe?) Couple of videos that might help in your search: IBIS comparison between various systems - ua-cam.com/video/1m_yDChpLy0/v-deo.htmlsi=FU8dmxAYFvYyClVn I would imagine with Active Steady Shot you're going to get the "stickier" IBIS on the a6700. I've stuck with standard IBIS to minimize this on recent cameras, but I hear that it works wonders on the ZVE1. Admittedly haven't used it much on the 6700 so can't comment on it too much. All the footage in this video was also shot handheld, but not a lot of movement so may not be all that helpful: ua-cam.com/video/KKvXb19pTuU/v-deo.htmlsi=wzik_B3mDNLuoqi_ The a6700 feels similar to A7C IBIS, here is some A7C handheld (also standard IBIS settings) and some walking if memory serves me correctly: ua-cam.com/video/DfVVU6TSNvs/v-deo.htmlsi=x_eeMVie82IjE6M4 I've been meaning to do another follow up with the 6700 but not sure when I'll be able to get to it so hopefully that provides some help!
@@boywithacamera Ah interesting thoughts on IBIS. Yeah I went from a ZVE10 to a Pocket 2 so now I'm like a stickler for steadiness and no jitteries. Ah 2nd vid footage looked great - really like the chill music you picked with the sun setting vibe. Ahhh I see, ok this is super helpful. Yeah you got some beautiful shots - I think bc I move around a lot I might go for the ZVE1 with the dynamic stabilization or lean more on my Pocket.
More of these diary photowalk episodes please
Hi boss, Does it have 48v phantom power?
Don't think it does good sir!
I have a choice for a new camera, I only buy user. I don't know which to choose between Sony A7 C or a Leica M240. I already have a Sony 7 II but I would like a portable and small camera, the Leica corresponds to a relatively smaller camera, but the Sony A7 II has a trigger that is too noisy
The M240 has a relatively loud shutter too so if you're after a silent shutter you may want to pick up a Sony or other modern mirrorless!
In the past, it was difficult to recommend because of the lowlight performance, but after adding the Lightroom Ai noise removal function, the M240 is good enough
It's just sensor character, it's beautiful digital grain.
