- Got my new Canon EOS R7 and brought it hiking at Joffre Provincial Park. Still learning how to grade C-LOG3 so a bit of experimenting here. Tried out Canon's official LUTs available on their website and with Davinci's RED LUT which was surprisingly good.
I was surprised at how good the IBIS was with the 18-150mm--most of these shots, I was just walking normally without trying to do any gimbal-walking.
Definitely not the sharpest lens though, which you can see in the shots that have a lot of trees. The AF struggled a bit as well. A really nice zoom range though and extremely light.
Excited to test this camera out more.

Shots are simply outstanding, whata a spectacular pice of hardware. Video is insanely beautiful, fantastic calibration.

It's good but there's a lot to improve if you compare the stabilization with an iPhone and etc... frustrating, since it's an exclusive product for images and expensive!
this really handheld only ? it's really amazingly so smooth. even when you walking, the footage still stabilize
Yep all handheld! I notice that the stabilization is best with the kit lens. Third party lenses like the Sigma 18-35, the footage doesn't look this stable.

I just got an Canon R10 but the video on that camera is not even matching my Iphone 14. So I thought about getting the R7 with IBIS but still noticed the wobble (and a tiny bit shake in this video) which is similar to my R10. But the footage is a lot better than the R10 but I am not sure if it justifies another $500 over the R10. I find the Iphone 14's stabilization to be way better than Canon by comparison.
There shouldn't be a big difference from the R7 and R10 I think, but definitely agree with the wobble being apparent. iPhone stabilization has definitely come a long way and my partner shoots all her vlogs on the iPhone 14!

Thank you Jon! I should have used an ND filter, but nope no filters on the lens other than a generic UV filter.
hope one day sony makes super 35 422 10bit body. After Canon R7 release I almost bought it 😂. I think it is always hard to find second camera for sony because when you have fx3, the second cam choices starts from a7m4(due to 422 10bit.. and it's expensive af). So, I ordered ronin 4d instead of buying a7m4 as my new main camera. A7M4 didn't looked very appealing to me, Buying same fx3 seems lame. So, went to cinema camera that as e mount lens option :)
I bet you Sony will make one next month haha. Ronin 4D is e-mount? Interestiiiiing. Honestly buying 2 FX3s is probably the best solution, but I understand that that's boring lol I would buy something else too!
@@boywithacamera After the new update ronin 4d supports emount lenses without any calibration! downside is that I'm stuck with pretty much still lens(due to limitation of payload. no cinelens). But I think I will have fun using it. if sony comes with new aps-c camera then.. guess I have to do more gigs to buy it 😂
What can you say about ibis wobble with wide lenses?
Widest I've shot is with the 18mm and it seems much better than previous iterations of IBIS. I'm still working on testing out the IBIS though--it definitely wobbles when you're walking carelessly, which you can see in the footage.
Is it time to give up Sony? I feel like canon just has a character you can’t beat!
Haha I've actually moved away from Sony for a few months now I think, but everything honestly feels like solid cameras nowadays. Can't go wrong with any of them!
