    This is the cleanest sample footage I've seen for this camera on UA-cam. Thank you! It looks gorgeous, and I finally feel like I might be able to chose the a6700 instead of bumping all the way up to the a7siii. After hours of videos, it was really starting to feel like the a7siii looks good, and everything else looks terrible at any price. I think most people weren't doing the a6700 at its highest output level, probably because they couldn't afford the SD card space. When it comes to camera gear, I'm learning that UA-cam is full of people that are basically reviewing Ferrari's, but can only afford to run them on regular unleaded fuel. Lol.

      Thank you for the kind words and I'm glad you found it helpful! Let me know if you have any questions about the camera as it's definitely not for everyone

    Great video with nice, clean sample footage, as always! Currently, I've been shooting with the XAVC S 100M 4:2:2 10bit on my A7IV, which seems to be a nice in-between of the HS and S-I. I Like you mentioned, I also find the difference in image quality for most situations is negligible, especially if the content is intended for viewing on UA-cam. However, I have noticed long GOP having some issues when filming a ton of small objects with a lot of random movement (i.e. wide angle shot of a full tree with leaves rustling in the wind)! It's something I try to keep in mind, but honestly, it's too much to think about switching codecs in my run-and-gun type of work.

      Much love Alex! Agreed on the practicality of switching codecs for run-and-gun work. That and online delivery, not sure if it's worth it for the majority of people.

    Thank you... but it would have been good to have your conclusion as to which codec looks best (pre youtube compression) !

      Thanks for the feedback! I suppose I could have made it more explicit. I didn't really see any significant different between the two pre UA-cam for what it's worth!

    Great video! Are you still enjoying your a6700? Of all the cameras you have owned, which is your favorite for video? I love the colors coming out of your a6700. Is there a Lut that you use? Thank you. Keep up the great work with your channel.

      Thank you! I absolutely am still enjoying it.
      For UA-cam and run & gun video work, the Sony FX3. Personally and for productions, the Blackmagic Pocket 4K and Red Komodo. For everyday life though, the a6700 is hard to beat with its smaller lenses and I've been liking what I can do with the colours. The Canon R7 was pretty close, but the body felt cheaper and the lens selection is pretty rough.
      I go back and forth between the Phantom Luts and some of Cullen Kelly's DWG Luts, but doing a lot of tweaking to both so I'm looking into developing my own eventually haha. Appreciate the support!

      @@boywithacamera thank you for the reply. All the cameras you have mentioned are excellent. They all have their strengths and weaknesses. Yes, I am looking for a everyday light weight camera with the best image quality possible. Like you said, in todays market, the a6700 is probably the best fit. Again, thank you so much for your reply. Keep up the great work with your channel.

    I often use Xavc HS 420 10 bit 30mb , it can take a hard grade and again looks similar to 422 or S-I

    Do you think macbook pro 14inch m1 pro 32gb ram 512gb can render 4k 10bit 422 xavc s or hs video without proxy? I'm planning to buy this

    Hey , this video was really helpful! , can you please tell me what would be the file size of a 1 min 4k120 clip with different bitrates? And can I use a V60 SD card with it ....or v90 is really necessary . Also will V60 work well with 4k60 ?
    Thanks!

      Glad it was helpful! This will address some of your questions: ua-cam.com/video/AIec7lsMxbc/v-deo.htmlsi=RVgooWOBEVSkQTUR&t=733 (should start at 12:13)
      I'll start working on a dedicated video to carry out some of the other tests you mentioned as I've been meaning to for a minute now! Let me know if there are other things you're curious about. :)

      @boywithacamera yeah , thanks a lot, that video was really helpful , questions: from a normal users perspective, how well does the internal mic perform and, then the file sizes of different codecs for a min of 4k 60 and 120, and how well does the stabilization work (asking for handheld wildlife viedography and general use), also how good is it with sony smart phone app , ...thats all, thanks!

    have you compare HS 4:2:2 10bit vs 4:2:0 10bit?

    How did you get the camera to record in XAVC S-I 4:2:2? My camera gives a warning that it needs greater than V90 SD to do it.

    • @boywithacamera
      @boywithacamera 6 місяців тому

      Greater than? I used a V90 SD card from Prograde for this and had no problems, so that's a strange warning! Have you tried with a V90?

      Thanks for your reply :) My card has V90 specs on it but it doesn't have V90 written on it - it's older. I'll try a new card, just wanted to check with you though that V90 works! Many thanks again. @@boywithacamera

    10bit is less noisy compared to 8bit footage coming out from a same sensor? Is it true or just a misconception?

    • @khaleel898

      What's the difference between 8 bit n 10bit?

    • @boywithacamera
      @boywithacamera 7 місяців тому

      I actually haven't heard this personally and I haven't noticed this in my experience. It may be that since 8bit footage breaks apart more easily from colour grading that people have reported noisier footage?

    • @boywithacamera
      @boywithacamera 7 місяців тому

      Essentially 10bit footage will have more colour information. In real world use, it generally means more accurate colours and files can take more colour grading before artefacts and banding become introduced. An easy place to see the difference would be in videos of skies--lots of comparisons on UA-cam if you want to see some examples/learn more. :)

    • @filmandframeca
      @filmandframeca 7 місяців тому

      @@boywithacamerathis is it. I have such a hard time getting a "look" with 8 bit footage, to the point where I don't even bother color grading or shooting in log. If anything I'll just add soke slight adjustments.
      Trying to save up for an fx30 for that 10bit video

    hs has not artifacts when you do the gradiation. while s-i the worst in gradiation. for split toning on davinci hs does better
