Horseradish Deviled Eggs
A little more twangy than the deviled eggs you might be used to. The addition of just a touch of anchovy paste makes a deep umami flavor, and the horseradish and grainy mustard make these zippy and flavorful! #appetizers #deviledeggs #retrorecipe

    Could your not wanting to swim be a result of having the extra amount of anesthetic drugs in your system with nothing to counter-act the effects of those drugs. in the mean time, your system is having to deal with the surgery drugs its-self. Shannon I cannot thank you enough for making this information known. My daughter is having surgery in July and we inquired with the hospital & directly with her doctor today to be sure she will NOT be exposed to this abuse, and they reassured us they do not allow that practice in their hospital & the only person who will perform her exam/procedure while under general anesthesia will be her doctor. I love this! At my first parent/teacher confrence with my oldest son's home ec teacher, she told me how impressed she was with his level of cooking skill. I had never seen him do more than pour cereal and milk, so i asked her what she meant. She explained to me that each student had to pick a dish to prepare for class, and most of the kids picked jello. My son made chicken enchiladas. I looked him in the face and asked him why he never told me he could cook, I was truly stunned. He shrugged his shoulders and said "you never asked me". 😂

    If you go to a “teaching” hospital there is/was a long list of procedures that might be done on you and not necessarily with your explicit permission. I’m retired now but as a young RN (1980s) working in a teaching hospital, I witnessed the exams she talks about. After a patient expires following a code, everyone would take turns learning how to insert IVs, central lines, insert chest tubes, and yes urinary catheters and more.

    • @TheFlyingKitchen
      @TheFlyingKitchen Місяць тому

      Hi. Thank you so much for commenting. “After a patient expires following a code” - does that mean the patient is dead? If so, did these teaching exams happen on both live and unalive patients?

    • @nellie9352
      @nellie9352 Місяць тому

      @@TheFlyingKitchen yes: once expired there would be about a half hour for practice procedures. If patient survived they would be off to ICU - and usually unconscious- and some limited practice procedures would continue to occur while trying to stabilize the patient. In teaching hospitals rarely are there attending physicians (MDs with much experience to oversee the residents). The 4th year resident would oversee the 3rd year (and everyone lower) while a first year resident would be responsible to the 2nd year, etc. The attending would make rounds once in the mornings only. Theoretically I understand the practice need for the resident doctors, but now in hindsight I can’t reconcile how I thought it was alright at the time. Many things being brought to light these days with fresh eyes seem so foreign now, and it’s good that it’s all being questioned.

    When I was in a hospital. They put me under anesthesia for no other reason except to steal my ovary. This happened when I was only 14 years old. They used a sonogram to go up through my V to access my cervix, make an incision, and use tools to pull my ovary out. It was a perfectly healthy ovary. I woke up during the procedure with my feet in stirrups while they were extracting my ovary. They injected me with more drugs, then used hypnosis to make me forget. But God is stronger than the evil ones and I remembered it the very next morning. Because I was bleeding mid cycle and I had injection sites that were also bleeding. When people go to hospitals they're putting their lives into the hands of strangers who don't care about them. I avoid allopathic medicine at all costs!

    This is horrifying, but I'm glad to hear that there are baby steps being taken. I remember going to urgent care as a teen for something, and the physician on duty praising me for reading through things before signing. I had to go again a few years later and figured that it was the same standard form, same physician, I could trust him- well he ripped me a new one for signing something that I didn't read! Lesson learned! There really aren't enough protections though. When I went in for my IUD placement there was no numbing at all, and the NP who did the placement was different from the one I had my initial consultation with, whom I was prepared to see/was scheduled for. It felt like a bait-and-switch and I definitely didn't feel comfortable enough to advocate for myself. Oh, and I was told that there would be a "pinch." It was the single most painful experience of my life to date, and I have a fairly high tolerance for pain. I know it's not as bad as most other stories shared, but it still felt violating, and I'm never going in for any gynecological procedures again without my husband there to help advocate.

      Hi, and thank you for commenting. Yes, there really are not enough protections. I think it’s interesting that the physician was encouraging of you reading consent forms. It makes me wonder if he’s seen things that went against his values only because there was “consent” buried in forms. I do know that these awful practices have caused ethically-minded medical staff distress, but because of the system and what happens to whistleblowers, they have had to stay silent. I’ve read many cases of extremely painful IUD insertions. I’m so sorry that happened to you. Thank you so much for being here and for commenting.

    How can this happen when I've been through over 35+ surgeries over the last 6 years, in the same hospital, and I'm definitely positive that there are over 8 medically trained staff in the OR - drs and nurses, anesthesiologist, etc. And the only person who is the same person, over & over, is my ortho dr. And those same people are in the room throughout the surgery. When the surgery is over, they have to immediately wheel you out to the recovery area. The operating rooms are in constant need, so they have to be cleaned, disinfected and scrubbed down for the next patient's surgery. I find this to be hard to believe - I'm sorry if i have offended anyone, but as a patient who has had countless surgeries over and over, i just dont believe this at all.

    I have had 2 surgeries to remove utrin growths. The first was at a teaching hospital. I woke up and felt violated. It was so strong and wouldn't go away. I even tried to talk about it and they got angry. Worse still the doctor never even came to talk to me afterwards either. I never even met the doctor till months later at a rescheduled post op appointment. The second surgery the pre-op nurse was going through paperwork and she mentioned students and using experimental tools. I said hell no to that. I was very scared. And I am thinking I must have woken uo during that first surgery or something but was given something to make me forget, but emotionally I still remember maybe. The second surgery I had a hell of a time waking up. I couldn't open my eyes. I remember trying to argue with the nurse about my oxygen mask. She took my mask and put a nasal cannula in. But I took it off and said no and pointed to the mask. I am a mouth breather, and the oxygen was helping to clear the fog. She gave me the mask but left it unplugged from the oxygen. I was holding the tub and grunting. I remember the doctor coming in a few times while I was trying to wake up. And I kept grunting pulling on the tube. The doctor told her to give me a nasal canula but I wouldn't let go of my mask. I wanted the bitch of a nurse to turn the oxygen back in in my mask because it made me feel better. But she didn't so I wouldn't try to wake up if they were going to treat me like that. The doctor came in serval times and I ignored her. Whatever they gave me rocked my world and I felt like crap and couldn't wake up and stay awake. And the oxygen really was helping at first. I don't understand any of this I only know how I felt. And I think they must have gave me something much stronger the second surgery. I didn't like it one bit.

      I’m so sorry. They need to be made to be much more communicative with us. As it is, they do things without ever explaining the what’s and why’s. We deserve to be treated with dignity, and the core of being treated with dignity is to let us maintain agency over ourselves. I’m so sorry that happened to you.

    Why aren't enough people discussing this?? This should be Federal legislation. We aren't crash test dummies for the fun of the medical establishment.

      I think many people cannot begin to think about this because it’s so horrific that we can be abu$ed to easily. This is a system of abu$e that excludes no one. So the things people tell themselves to handle hearing about other awful atrocities - the bits of comfort that come from thinking “That could never happen to me because …. I don’t live in that place/ I don’t wear short skirts / I don’t let my kid walk to school etc. - none of those mental checks that keep us safe psychologically apply here. I think a lot of people literally dissociate if the danger cannot be explained away. This topic needs much more exposure. I think given time, more exposure will come.

    My mom warned me about "teaching hospitals" that they subject children/ young adults to a parade of students thru when dr examines u. You are mostly awake.its very unnerving after surgery.

      I’m so sorry. You will see in these comments that there are many people now questioning past surgeries. None of us should be going through this. The medical establishment should be made to prove to us that we HAVEN’T been a$$aulted. Instead we get blown off when we ask important questions that are extremely relevant to our well-being. I’m so sorry.
