Ok, so it's a year later and probably no one will ever see this comment, but I grew up with Simon & Garfunkel's version. I also never really listened to Disturbed. Just wasn't my music. I liked 60's-90's "Rock n' Roll" etc. THIS performance... this one right here... is what started me listening to Disturbed for real. A) I like it better than the original, and FAR better than any other cover I've ever heard. & B) I am actually a Disturbed fan now. BTW - love this reaction as well. First time I've ever seen you, but I'm hitting that sub button now.

The last "Sounds of silence" is really disturbing to me, How the hell did he managed to sound soo good, breathe and did it in the first place, I can't even do that at my best, and he had fever and flu o_O damn that man is good.

I'm going to criticize your reaction. You stopped the video before it was over. Not a pro move. In fact it was a total rookie move. If you would have waited till the video was completely over. You would have witnessed how hypnotizing the song truly. But because of your unprofessionalism, and wanting to state your lame opinion. You missed it. What I'm talking about at the very end of the song. The whole crowd is so hypnotized. That it takes all of them a second to come out of it and start cheering, after the last note is played. Thats a true reaction. Not somebody stopping a video before it is over. Just so he can state his lame opinion, that nobody cares about anyway. Not a pro move. Far from it.

Once in awhile, but rarely does a song and performance simply blow your mind. This is a perfect example of that.

I was in my teens when the original came out & it WAS brilliant but David takes it to another level entirely & even Paul Simon thinks it should now be theirs, it's that good. David gives the words their full meaning with his interpretation & it's no wonder so many people get goosebumps & tears in their eyes when they hear it. This is THE best version ever made, bar none!

This song is such a hidden gem and if people don't see it, it's their loss. It's so meaningful and beautiful on so many levels. It deserves much more exposure!

I too am a professional music listener.

The only thing I would critique about this performance is that the producers of the Conan show used autotune when it was not needed at all. I love hearing that little squeak or crack in a singer's voice because that lets me know they are singing live. David has such good control over his vocal range that just like Chester Bennington David could sing any song he wants to. David puts his emotions in the songs for the fans to feel what the songs makes him feel.

I never heard or listened to any of this mans music before. About knocked me over. Simon and garfinkal would have been proud of his rendition of their song. Just amazing vocal. He is really great with it. Just as good if not better than the original.

I just heard this and of them for the first time, last night. I've listened to this song at least 10 times since and its just I can't even describe it. It grabs your soul and heart like few things I've heard. What a voice. A gift. I'm grateful he's been able to share it with the rest of us. They did a great song a great service.

This song came out right after my wife passed away at 43, this is the most sad, uplifting most I've ever felt from a song I play it constantly and still get goosebumps, people ask me if I'm seeing a shrink to cope, I say yeah slipknot, machine head, lamb of god, u name it .
