I started following you as soon as you said that you were a professional music listener as I too am a professional music listener and I get so sick of the music coaches and professional singing coaches etc. saying what he did wrong. He had a 102° fever and the flu on the Conan show. I have goosebumps every time I hear the song. Paul Simon put it on his Playlist. He said that was how he meant for the song to be sung. The record company wouldn't let him because he was a folk singer. Paul said that it was better than the original. I'm a 56 year old Grandma and I have just found my favorite professional music listener. David Draimen was trained classically as a Hazen, and was training to become a cantor. I feel like saying to these professional singers, and vocal coaches who cut him down, Jealous much? Thank you for a completely enjoyable reaction. 🤘
I'm sorry first of all to say I didn't know there were professional music listeners. I am a 63 Yr old Grandmother and I absolutely love David Draimans voice. I stumbled across Disturbed when I was looking through You Tube. I am now a fan of the band. Amazing considering I grew up an avid Osmonds fan 😁 I completely agree with you. I have watched a lot of reactions to Sound of Silence and Disturbed version, I get chills every time I listen to them. I even said to my 4 kids (ages 30-40yrs) Why haven't I heard this before? I now have Disturbed on my playlist and it's on top of my bucket list to go see them but I don't think there's a chance of that happening now. 😁🏴

@@heatherscanlon3239 Thank you Heather. I was born in 1959 so I was a bit young for the Simon and Garfunkel version but I still remember it. It came out around the time of the Vietnam war and when President Kennedy was assassinated and I remember that too so there was a lot of things happening at that time. It's a shame to say, the song could have been written today with all that's still going on. I wasn't really into the Beatles and sixties music but then Glam rock happened. LOL Chrissy, there's no such thing as a professional music listener. It's a joke or a parody of all the of the "professional ______" out there that you see reacting to songs. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter who you are or what you do, YOU are your own professional music listener. A great song doesn't need the approval of a coach or a musician, it just needs to connect with you a certain way and make you feel what you want to feel.
I was in my teens when the original came out & it WAS brilliant but David takes it to another level entirely & even Paul Simon thinks it should now be theirs, it's that good. David gives the words their full meaning with his interpretation & it's no wonder so many people get goosebumps & tears in their eyes when they hear it. This is THE best version ever made, bar none!
You have the same reaction of everyone who listens to this video for the first time. It cannot be beat, it just can't. I've listened to it hundreds of times and could listen to it 100 more without getting tired of it. It is emotional and powerful he has the perfect voice for it. I totally agree I have yet to hear one negative comment. It is ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT and this is how this song should have been presented in the 60s when it was originally released - i liked it then but so-so, but this version I think is beautiful and does the lyrics full justice, also his voice is totally suitable to showcase this amended cover, David does the song proud.

Just found your reaction to Disturbed, You are one of the very few who did not pause it every farts end to give their....oh, so important...reaction to each and every decibel and note, not to mention every expression and piano chord. You listened to the whole song...THEN gave your reaction. Love you for this. Love this song by Disturbed. Now pressing the subscribe button. xxx
This is an example of a "sit back, be quiet and just enjoy the ear-gasm" kinda song. I actually prefer the performance on Conan to their studio version. It just "feels" more. 🔥🔥🔥
I just read on another reaction video a phrase that truly epitomises Disturbed's performance of this song - 'Simon and Garfunkel's version was a warning and Disturbed's version was the fury of not heading that warning.' David draws you into the emotion of the song with his warm and almost angelic start and then you feel the frustration build as it ramps up. You then get the full fury with his powerful rasp before he sort of thanks you for listening with his final 'Sounds of silence' I feel the emotion everytime I listen to this song and have tears everytime. Knowing he was unwell in this live version as well just adds to the brilliance of the performance.
"It takes no talent to criticize." 👍🏻 I can't hear this song without tearing up, more and more, as the song grows... and I'm completely sobbing by the end. Too close to home...
I'm a 62 year old rock 🎸 chick and you're right NO ONE gets to pick this performance apart....ever ! This is going to be my final song at my funeral ...what a way to go 👹
From a 62 year old rocker in the UK most cover versions don’t do the song justice, for once this one surpasses it, best cover version ever in my humble opinion.
first time hearing this song yesterday and i got immidiatly tears and i listened again and again and the tears stays coming could't hold myself it goes right through me 😭🤘❤
I'm 61 years young from Germany and I love Disturbed. I didn't know that David Draimans was rated negatively and that he had a fever on the show, so I think his performance is brilliant. Such a soft, clear, emotional voice is very, very rarely found. No idea why they have negative react, but it can't be an understanding of music😉
This song is perfection. I am a grandma and grew up with the original and I prefer this version. David Draiman is an angel. I even like the "regular " Disturbed music.
That is why I love David DRAIMAN, his mastery of his voice like listening to a Stradivarius being played perfectly. And he's a really good man who genuinely cares about people and the world we live in
I’m old enough to have loved the original. I have lived long enough to FEEL David Draiman and Disturbed’s version. There’s only one other cover that I can think of that compares to this, and that’s Whitney’s cover of “I Will Always Love You”. As technically perfect as Whitney sings, Draiman’s hits like a gut punch. I’ve listened to him sing this song at least 150 times. Still brings tears and goose bumps. I would love to know how it feels to affect millions of people like he has done.
Perfection. Beginning and end of story. Now watch his own video and that brings an entirely new dimension. Btw he had the flu when that version was made....
Preach, brother! I think this is the most breathtakingly beautiful performance I've ever seen. I watch this video repeatedly and it ALWAYS brings out goosebumps, and it usually brings tears. The vocal is staggering and the arrangement is genius.
Yo sigo enamoradisima de la forma tan hermosa, tan maravillosa como que interpreto esta canción 🎵 y de pie le aplaudo con mucho 🥰 amor BRAVO BRAVO BRAVO 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I TOTALLY AGREE. DAVID DRAIMAN IN THIS SONG IS TOTALLY EPIC EPIC EPIC. HE TAKES THIS SONG TO A WHOLE TOTAL NEW LEVEL AND MAKE THIS SONG SO PURE, AND MAKES IT WAY WAY BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL. THIS MAN IS SO FREAKING EPIC EPIC EPIC. YOU NEED TO TRY THE OFFICIAL VIDEO BECAUSE I AM TRANSFIXED BY THE VIDEO AS WELL AS HIS FACE AND VOICE. I KEEP GETTING GOOSEBUMPS NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES I HAVE HEARD THIS SONG.
I wouldn't call my self a pro listener, but i must say that his performance not only gives me goosebumbs, but tears me up. And that doesn't happen often.
I know Im late to this, but you are so right…you do NOT get to critique this! Ever! Simply the best cover ever. David’s voice is just magic. I can’t listen to this without sobbing by the end. He touches something inside my soul.

Added a comment 2 months ago..re-watching now. All your comments were written on your face, I could tell when you were impressed, which was all the time you were listening. You are my favourite reactionist. xx
Finally able to watch this one. A great song and great band. To those who critique David's voice when it falters or studders, people forget he has an injury in his throat. I do not recall it exactly, but in an interview he mentioned they had to heal it with tissue and that it was a once over. There's no way to heal it again if it tears. So David doing what he does with his brothers is, admirable and amazing enough. Like Max said, who are we to critique when we can't hold a note. Just enjoy it for what it is. Beautiful.
Thank you! I LOVE WHAT YOU SAID! I have seen a very few reactions where they did critique in a negative way. I was like... OK, what lanet are you from. His vocals are above and beyond!
David Draiman was actually very ill and fighting a 102 fever when this performance was taped. Just shows the power of his voice. Not gonna lie, I'm a 48 year old man and first time I heard this version I was on my knees in tears.
Glad I'm not the only one. Every time I hear him sing this, like now, tears uncontrollably stream down my face. Don't know what it is about his voice in this song.
Absolutely. The first time that I heard it was from a video made in Standing Rock North Dakota when the government was trying to put a pipeline through the sacred burial grounds on the Reservation. Morton County Police militarized themselves and shot everyone including the Elders with rubber bullets and threw sound grenades, one blew the arm off of a peaceful protesters. They put up razor wire and sprayed the peaceful protesters with water cannons in -17° weather. Check out Disturbed Sound of Silence Standing Rock. It's very graphic. They ran the pipeline through anyway only to have it leak 176,000 gallons of crude oil into a creek and into the water table of the Standing Rock Reservation.
I was in awe of this performance and the absolute tone of his voice. As with all the other commenters, I cried hearing this song being done the way I believe it should have been but couldn't be at the time by Simon and Garfunkel. I would love to see more reactions. I would like to recommend Home Free's cover of a Crosby, Stills and Nash song.....Helplessly Hoping. I am curious to see if you even post it, based on what your criteria are. Thank you for this.

This song and this exact performance will never be outdone by no other. This cover performance is untouchable. The orchestra adds to the emotional perfection that this version embodies. The people who attended this will never forget it and probably left the show in tears knowing they witnessed a once in a lifetime moment.

I have seen 2 reactions, which claims that he used a popular voice changing software (dont remember the name). For me it is a excellent cover of the S&G song. I like both versions,. But this one goives me more goosebumps :)
I just remember being so happy to hear this angelic side to his vocals when I grew up listening to him sing so heavy. You can really hear the church (or synagogue in this case) in his voice.
Thank you for your closing statement on this generational song. It's been years since Disturbed performed this song on Conan and I still get goosebumps whenever I see this performance (the extra bonus is being able to enjoy people's reactions to it). Keep up the great work!
62 year old grandma here. I’ve never listened to heavy metal, couldn’t stand the screaming. My daughter played this version for me .. she said “ give it a chance Ma.” I did.. I cried.. this man made my heart hurt, my ears happy and sad at the same time and I fell in love with him and his music. I downloaded all their music and listen on a daily basis, for I too am a professional music listener. I prefer music to television ( unless I’m watching The Virginian.) another cover they do that I absolutely love is Land of Confusion.. by Phil Collins. I love David’s voice and the little ( bark?) he does in certain songs. A note on you, Mr. Professional. Thank you for not pausing, to gibber away with nonsense. You just don’t pause a performance such as this. You don’t pause the official video either. You should be AWESTRUCK… just like the rest of us when listening to perfection. NUFF SAID.
Paul Simon, upon hearing Draiman told him it was the best version of his song he had ever heard and that the song now belongs to Disturbed. I so agree!
I grew up in a house where music was played almost constantly. Music is in my Soul. And this performance is one that I will watch over and over, and it hits me every single time. This is absolutely a jaw-dropping performance. Absolutely beautiful.
Hello sir, there is no one in my opinion who could have mastered this song as well as he/they have, EVER. This may be a S&G's song but, Disturbed is the clear winner here. Okay, okay S&G's version is also good but, this version, this version hits me on a level that I can't even put into words. It's indescribable, it's fantastic. This version is a song that will live on, no matter what year it may be. It will touch people's feelings deep down inside of them and give them a release of serenity like never before. Powerful, this song demanded power and power is what it got. I get goosebumps everytime I listen to it. Wow, Powerful...
I Love this Version!! And i went down the rabbit whole of first impressions and vocal coaches and Profesional singers and almost all that i came across where blown away by his vocal control and the song ( Wow, was a common statement) many became Disturbed fans, but this one woman was so mortfied that some heavy metal artist would do a cover of it , was sacrilegious. Even though Paul Simon has put the version on his social media accounts, and has said David's Disturbed version actually captures the tru spirit of the song Today
Just because of the honest statement at the beginning... I can't promise that I like the music/video... I subscribe to your channel. There are too many reaction channels that worship whatever is suggested, like a kind of click fishing. I'm curious. Is my first video of you. Greetings from Germany.

This is an example of a "sit back, be quiet and just enjoy the ear-gasm" kinda song. I actually prefer the performance on Conan to their studio version. It just "feels" more. 🔥🔥🔥
YES.
Agree 100%. You just have to listen to it with your eyes closed and listen to a perfect rendition of such an emotion raising song.
I just read on another reaction video a phrase that truly epitomises Disturbed's performance of this song - 'Simon and Garfunkel's version was a warning and Disturbed's version was the fury of not heading that warning.'
David draws you into the emotion of the song with his warm and almost angelic start and then you feel the frustration build as it ramps up. You then get the full fury with his powerful rasp before he sort of thanks you for listening with his final 'Sounds of silence'
I feel the emotion everytime I listen to this song and have tears everytime. Knowing he was unwell in this live version as well just adds to the brilliance of the performance.
Exactly yeah
No stops you talked with your face THE BEST!!!
David is one of very few singers who can pull off this type of cover of such a classic song!
This is literal perfection
"It takes no talent to criticize." 👍🏻 I can't hear this song without tearing up, more and more, as the song grows... and I'm completely sobbing by the end. Too close to home...
I'm a 62 year old rock 🎸 chick and you're right NO ONE gets to pick this performance apart....ever ! This is going to be my final song at my funeral ...what a way to go 👹
From a 62 year old rocker in the UK most cover versions don’t do the song justice, for once this one surpasses it, best cover version ever in my humble opinion.
I’m having it at my funeral too
75 here and I must listen at least once a day
Me too…
He sang that beautifully idk why anyone would think he did a bad job.
no one did think so! :D
that is the studio version they are refering to! not the live one
I preferred the official video. Both were amazing
first time hearing this song yesterday and i got immidiatly tears and i listened again and again and the tears stays coming could't hold myself it goes right through me 😭🤘❤
Disturbed’s version of Sound of Silence is musical perfection.
Thank you for listening instead of interrupting the song with their words! David Draiman has a voice for the ages. He is a vocal magician.
This song is perfection. I am a grandma and grew up with the original and I prefer this version. David Draiman is an angel. I even like the "regular " Disturbed music.
Knowing that Dave Draiman has fought through his own darkness makes this performance even more power.
That is why I love David DRAIMAN, his mastery of his voice like listening to a Stradivarius being played perfectly. And he's a really good man who genuinely cares about people and the world we live in
Master piece from god
Exactly I feel every time I hear it.....From deep inside me.....
I liked the original too but I never went back to listen to it over and over again like this version draws me to do.
Perfection. Beginning and end of story. Now watch his own video and that brings an entirely new dimension. Btw he had the flu when that version was made....
This has to be one of the best covers of ALL time!!
Agreed. 100% nothing compares to this.
It raises the hair on my arms and grabs my soul. How talented is he? He was actually sick while singing on Conan...that is a true professional!!
Preach, brother! I think this is the most breathtakingly beautiful performance I've ever seen. I watch this video repeatedly and it ALWAYS brings out goosebumps, and it usually brings tears. The vocal is staggering and the arrangement is genius.
Best version of a cover song EVER! Someone had said he was sick with a cold and sore throat doing this show which makes it even more amazing.
Sick with the flu and a temp of 102°
I can't get enough of this version. It's brilliant. It gives me goose bumps.
I listen to it every night since I came across it. Just fantastic.x
I worked there show in 2003. The man is a special person to talk to. Down With The Sickness
Yo sigo enamoradisima de la forma tan hermosa, tan maravillosa como que interpreto esta canción 🎵 y de pie le aplaudo con mucho 🥰 amor
BRAVO BRAVO BRAVO 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
His amazing an a beautiful haunting voice ....I have him singin 2 me 4 yrs
For me he is perfection as is his backing lighting his diction And that one sung word more just melted me
When first listening to this song, it brought tears to my eyes.
The way he sings this song.....brings tears to my eyes every time!!! Absolutely life changing. ❤️
He gives this song the energy it deserves. Fantastic, I could listen to him all night long.❤
He ws sick when he did this performance and it was still perfect. i love him
Love your reaction! 💗100% agree
I wouldn't call my self a pro listener, but i must say that his performance not only gives me goosebumbs, but tears me up. And that doesn't happen often.
It’s magical & magnificent. A perfect example of how music can move you
I know Im late to this, but you are so right…you do NOT get to critique this! Ever! Simply the best cover ever. David’s voice is just magic. I can’t listen to this without sobbing by the end. He touches something inside my soul.
2 music performances that I will listen to over and over again...Conan version of Sound of Silence by Disturbed and the Queen Live Aid performance, Iconic live performanances!!!
He is just fantastic. And his voise is brilliant. Cant stop listening to him ❤
David Draiman was actually very ill and fighting a 102 fever when this performance was taped.
A professional singer who did a reaction to it. She noticed at the first lyrics that he was sick.
🤟
@@roseannamanues2111 which reaction is that, do you remember?
I’ll agree even though I don’t know wtf you said! Lol
I agree with you totally! I cannot get enough of this. This is better than the original version ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Mate 60 plus yr old who loves talent! cking amazing song and your the first to pull up those who have NO talent and react honestly!!!!!’will be following daily!
Cheers mate
Your the best reactor of this video ever. You didnt stop and start all the way through like some of them do. This is the most beautiful rendition of this. Even better than the original. Thankyou.
Spot on my friend. Just recognise genius and appreciate it. Thank you for your reaction.
2nd.PART😊. YOU SAID,IT DOES NOT NEED TALENT TO CRITICIZE. THAANNXXX,LUV U 4 THAT
I can hear you all days of my life David this song penetrates the deepest part of my heart i cry....
Absolutely love this rendition what an amazing performance.
Yes correct! David was sick at the time.. Amazing cover!
This song and this exact performance will never be outdone by no other. This cover performance is untouchable. The orchestra adds to the emotional perfection that this version embodies. The people who attended this will never forget it and probably left the show in tears knowing they witnessed a once in a lifetime moment.
At LEAST once a month...if not more...when everyday things start worrying me... I play this song... to calm myself......It reminds me that Gods in Control & that everythings going to be ok....
Best reaction video yet. Thank you for entertaining me for a little over eight minutes. Good job sir!
Awe. Your eyes got emotional there. We love David. ❤️❤️🇨🇦
HEYA, DENISE FROM ATHENS. (I AM GERMAN). I CHOOSED THIS PERFORMANCE FOR MY FUNERAL. REALLY. YOU SAID THE BEST THING I EVER HEARD .
Es lo más maravilloso y transformador que se puede oír en las emociones humanas. Te revienta el alma y la hace más humilde. IMPACTANTE, SOBERBIAMENTE GENIAL ❤❤❤❤.
He is and the musicians are the memory makers. Beautiful every single time I listen to them!
I have watched signs of reaction videos by a wide variety of people, from everyday folks to professionals in the music industry, and I've never seen anyone dislike this, or criticize it. Everyone I've ever seen so far has loved it.
most do!
I have seen 2 reactions, which claims that he used a popular voice changing software (dont remember the name).
For me it is a excellent cover of the S&G song. I like both versions,. But this one goives me more goosebumps :)
Subscribing now. I've been watching react videos to this performance for hours and your comments after the show has absolutely sold me.
Thanks! Appreciate that!!
I just remember being so happy to hear this angelic side to his vocals when I grew up listening to him sing so heavy. You can really hear the church (or synagogue in this case) in his voice.
I LOVE❤ your reaction and I agree wholeheartedly, you are the first reactor that has said this THANK YOU!!!!!
When I was young, I liked this song. But this cover, just blew me away. Never had a song give me goose bumps, and spine chills at the same time.
I agree with your comments. no one gets to say anything negative about it! This is an Amazing voice, song, message, emotion.
He has a BEAUTIFUL VOICE.
Thank you! It was perfect. ❤️
