@@maximumentertainment4414 May I suggest Sabaton? Their "army" are just as nice a the Nightwish one. The genre would be "History metal". They sing about war and human conflict with historical accuracy. They even have their own history channel here on UA-cam to talk more about the events they sing about (Sabaton History). BTW they're from Sweden, and their drummer Hannes is married to Floor. Just so you know. ( You'll get the joke once you do a Sabaton song) 😉

This song, like so many, needed Floor because her voice is an extension of her personality. Not just singing. But emoting which is how Tuomas writes.
The first time I ever heard Nightwish was watching Ghost love score live at Wacken 2013. It totally changed my life.. I had never seen such beauty in a performance and it hit me like lightning out of nowhere. Everyday for the past year I have been listening to them and it´s pure medicine for my soul. A band like no other :)

Ghost Love Score might be the most beautiful and impactful song in this world, I believe. I remember when I saw this first time... It was right after when I had watched Ever Dream then, in 2018, when Nightwish came back to my life like a light of hope. Well I should say they came back to my life like a STORM of hope and beauty

@@reeilona I really agree with you about Floor and Nightwish being the perfect match. When first seeing Nightwish, the first striking thing for me was Floor. The second I heard her I found it hard to understand how a voice could reduce me to tears in seconds. Her stage presenece and warm personality was so evident and it felt like everything my wounded soul needed. Understanding the mechanics of Nightwish and how Tuomas`soul was being played out in the most amazing way, with the magical compositions and musicianship, everything clicked. I understood that this was so special and meaningful. I know this feeling will last forever as their music will last an eternity :)

Floor Jansen is a vocal athlete with incredible range, versatility, vocal stamina, and stage presence. She is a spinto soprano with a range of almost four octaves (D3-G#5-F6). When listening to her sing, it is apparent that she has spent the better part of her life fine-tuning her instrument with help from several vocal coaches. Floor can sing in multiple languages and genres and is a Master vocal coach. It is incredible how she is able to take any song from any genre and make it her own. This woman is a true gift to her craft and an incredible addition to a band that has always been great until 2013 when they officially hired the undisputed Queen of Metal, Floor Jansen, making Nightwish the greatest band on the planet. Well done for your efforts on this. The differences between Tarja and Floor are a touchy subject between some of us. For me, Tarja was like a fine whiskey, and I thought it was great. Then I tried an amazing Cognac, and for me it was so much smoother and more to my taste that the whiskey was never quite the same again. Some people still prefer the whisky, which is fine, but I’m definitely sticking with the cognac. I did try a Swedish drink between them, but it was very weak and didn’t quite satisfy me at all😉
Excellent analogy! In my case, I’d liken Floor Jansen to a Jack Daniels honey whiskey, where Tarja was peach Schnapps….
Certainly Anette is the weakest of the three vocally, but I think it does a real disservice to Tuomas to discount how good an album it is regardless. DPP is musically just as sweet as any Nightwish offering and he did a fine job writing the music to meld with what’s admittedly a less epic voice than available to the other two.
DPP introduced me to Nightwish and despite preferring Floor, I don’t skip over songs like Amaranth and Sahara. The latter remains my eldest’s favorite Nightwish song even now, some ten years later.
Amazing answer, indeed, David! But for me, for example, songs, just songs, like Sleeping Sun, or Everdream, will always, always, belong to the majestic operatic voice of Tarja. Anyways, I am soooo happy with our Walkyrie Goddess!
I agree, Anette era Nightwish songs are some of my favorites. What Floor has done with them though 🔥
You put some effort into this one! Wonderful, because this is a song which might take a couple of listens to even start to understand and appreciate. It is not as catchy as for example 'Storytime' is. The composition, arrangement and lyrics need some time to fully process. @@bertjones3010 On Nightwish's own YT channel, you can find a playlist of the full album. All songs have lyric videos, except for 'Noise', which has a music video. The second part of the album is purely instrumental (classical). There are plenty more songs I could recommend that you might like, so let me know if I can help. All I can say is that the more you listen to Nightwish, the better they get... Enjoy!
I appreciate your reaction philosophy. Why post negativity. Just let it be. Music is a subjective experience. You will discover that Nightwish has many different styles to their music. This one is epic style movie soundtrack style. Live performances is always much more dramatic and energized. How ironic you mentioned Hans Zimmer. He is Tuomas' (Keyboards and main composer) favorite movie soundtrack composer. Floor Jansen fan here as well. She brings Nightwish music to life and draws you into the experience. This band leaves their egos at the backstage door. It is all about the song and the message of the lyrics. Tuomas is able to create a musical backdrop to portray the emotion and feeling of their music. Nightwish music and Floor's vocal technique allow their music to slowly build to an epic climax. Sometime building and falling back to start a new sequence of buildup.
This is a very unique song which features the complex structure and focuses on Floor and her amazing vocal ability.

I think you will enjoy the different musical styles incorporated in Nightwish' sound. From Heavy metal to operatic metal and even all the way to Celtic folk/rock with some heavy guitar sound thrown in for energy. Stick with Floor's live performances and you won't be disappointed. It seems like Tarja's much more pure operatic style is not your preference. Totally understandable. It is an acquired taste and not for everyone. Respect to Tarja! Thanks! I love Hans and there are some other great composers too. I'm definitely loving what I'm hearing by Nightwish but for sure some songs are better the more you get familiar with a band's style. That goes for any band too. Some songs are better to start with than others before you can really appreciate them. It wasn't that I disliked Tarja, it just didn't draw me in as much. It's kinda like food, you may have a favorite, but if it's not the right recipe, you don't like it as much even though other people do. I think Tarja brings a different personality to the song with her tone and style. It's amazing, just not my taste I guess (for now at least) which is weird because one of my favorite songs is "Time To Say Goodbye" by Andrea Bocelli, Sarah Brightman.

I have some info on Floor Jansen for you here.
She is married to Hannes Van Dahl, drummer of the Swedish power metal band Sabaton. Together they have a daughter. ( Freja )
Floor Jansen is a soprano, with a range of more than 4 octaves (Eb2 to F6). Re-singing style ranges from opera to screams and grunts. She usually sings in English, in addition she has also sung songs in Dutch, German, Spanish, Finnish, Latin, Italian and Swedish.
Jansen was the singer of the Dutch metal band After Forever from 1997 to early 2009. From 1999 she studied at the Rockacademie in Tilburg with classmates Jacqueline Govaert and Danny Vera, where she graduated in 2003. In addition to her activities at After Forever, she gave singing lessons. She plays guitar, piano and flute. On May 5, 2010, she presented her new band ReVamp, which was disbanded in September 2016.
From 1 October 2012 Jansen replaced Anette Olzon as singer of Nightwish during the Imaginaerum World Tour. On October 9, 2013, it was announced that she would be the group's regular new front singer. In 2015, Nightwish released the album Endless Forms Most Beautiful with Jansen as lead singer. Nightwish's second studio album with Jansen as front singer, Human. :II: Nature., was released in April 2020.

My NW journey started two years ago, and I’m not even a rocker, let alone a metal head originally. I only listen to the Floor Jansen songs of them, she’s the one who introduced me to NW by her stellar performance on our national Dutch TV show Beste Zangers 2019. Even though I’m 60+, I’m behaving like a high school fan boy when it comes to Floor 😂. I rarely subscribe to UA-cam channels, but for your positive attitude I’ll gladly make an exception. I’m new to nightwish. The wakken show is among my all time favorite albums. But I cannot listen to pre-floor NW. Floor has reinvented the band for sure
Nightwish is one of the few bands that I always choose live over studio
This is one thing Nightwish does extremely well, is that their songs constantly evolve and improve over time
I was a DJ many years ago. Did an "all request" type format. If I didn't have a song in my playlist, I had a spot where people could suggest stuff for me to review and add for a later date. It is quite possible that I got requests for Nightwish, but that I listened to them from they Tarja ara (as that is when I was doing that gig). Never found anything I liked apparently as I never added one song from them.
Then I heard THIS version of the song with Floor. Instantly hooked!
Yeah, sometimes you just need the right ingredients for a song. The other versions aren't bad, just didn't match my taste

Floor moves in & out of vocal styles like a gentle ocean wave ,but then just as abruptly she switches in staccato.
By watching the full Wacken 2013 concert you also gets the vibe from the concert. Floor only did old songs not written to her incredible voice - but she certainly made her own versions and used some of her techniques..
From 2015 and up, the new songs are written to her - and the old ones are being "Flooralized" - you will really experience what an incredible band Nightwish is, when you start on the

I didn't grow up with any of the 3 singers and when I saw and heard Nightwish with Floor, she got me good 😇😇😇😇.
What a Voice, Stage presence and beauty, I was captivated.

Floor enters, the rest is history. Everything about this woman is "goddess mode", magical.
I think the power of this song at Wacken is that 82k+ people had never heard Floor's rendition of the lyrics. She had only been touring with the band for 10 months. They were familiar with the song likely, but few expected the gorgeous additions Floor made. Especially the belts of the climax that are not in the recording by Tarja.
Nightwish is at the core of my discovery of Symphonic Metal. So many connections.
Sabaton - Floor's husband is the Drummer and Floor was recently featured on 'Christmas Truce' video.
Epica - Simone Simmons is the lead and BFF of Floor.
Floor is friends with Tarja, who is having a great solo career.
Amaranthe - lead singer is Elize Ryd previously auditioned to replace Tarja, when she was dismissed.
Delain - Marko (Nightwish Bassist) did a number for Duets with this band.
Ayreon - a musical project that has guest Vocalists and Musicians from all over including Floor, Simone, and Elize.
Within Temptation - which has Tarja as a guest on their track Paradise.

I am 64 years old, and have been enjoy rock, motown, hard rock, heavy metal...etc! In all my years, I have never been this obsessed by a band like I have become for Nightwish!
Ghost Love Score just shows what the right vocalist can do to elevate a bands music.
Oh....there was 82,000 people at that concert! I have been to a Rolling Stones concert at a college football stadium that could have seated 65,000...(there was a little over 60,000 in attendance)... and the crowd was no where near as animated.

I still remember when I first heard this song. Back in high school this was the “epic song” on ytmnd. Had no idea. A few years later I was into nightwish for real just going through everything that was out at the time, this song came on, and when the end hit, me and my friend jumped up at the same time and couldn’t believe we found the song. A decade later, I’ve seen nightwish live, been around for all the singers, but the wacken performance brings me to tears and gives me chills every single time. Easily one of the the greatest songs of our time.
Also, your format is fantastic. It’s great seeing a professional music listener really professionally listen to music.

I am SO happy that you've given this song multiple listens before diving into the Live at Wacken 2013 performance with Floor. The studio version is great, but this song is MEANT to be heard live because like you said - it's an *experience*. I know the song was originally written for Tarja and we wouldn't have it without her and Tuomas, BUT the way Floor takes it and makes it her own - AND performs it differently almost every time it's played live is just...incredible.

Viewers have most likely said this before but I guess I would also suggest that Nightwish is best viewed live….. always live. Their scores by the keyboardist Tuomas, their stage setup and stage presence can’t be found in a studio album. BUT, you did right to get a glimpse of NW and what they have in store for you. I rarely comment on videos, but I have to let you know I'm in awe of the time and effort you put in on this one! Too many reactors listen to the song and just say "wow, I don't know what to say" and that's it.
Equally impressive is that when you didn't like it you gave it multiple chances, who does that? Bravo sir! I didn't like a few of Nightwish's songs too much when I first heard them, but after a few listens they grew on me and now I absolutely love them.

GLS, this performance, was recorded for a live DVD just 10mos and about 40 shows with new singer, Floor. It was song 13 of 15 in the set, in front of approx 82,000ppl...and it's near perfection is stunning and awe-inspiring!

🤘 Enjoyed your reaction! I've been a Nightwish fan since 1996. The band belongs to the keyboardist, Tuomas. I remember when he asked Floor to fill-in as lead vocalist, in September 2012. Floor's career had hit a dead end, so the timing of Tuomas' request was perfect. He officially hired her, in October of 2013, and she has been a phenomenal addition to the band. Tarja was Nightwish's original vocalist & singer on Ghost Love Score. She also co-founded the band, but was fired in 2005. I think you are truly gonna love your Nightwish journey.🤘

Something to keep in mind, Floor had only been with the band two months at the time of the 2012 Buenos Aires concert. Two months before she had to learn the songs on the fly (in 48 hours on the flight over with one sound check before going on stage) as she was an emergency replacement for Anette Olzon. By the Buenos Aires concert two months later, she had already reinvented the ending to GLS. By Wacken eight months afterward, she owned the setlist despite that all of the songs had been written for the two other singers.

Fantastic reaction. Very few reactors ever go back in see where this song comes from. There are some videos when Floor first joined the band on tour and sang this straight up like Tarja. Floor has said in interviews as she rehearsed with the band during the tour she started adding her own spin on the ending and eventually 10 months arrived at this masterpiece with its epic ending
I love both Tarja and Floor. Some songs Tarja is better, some Floor, others they are equally good. This one is Floor's. She owns it and has made it even more incredible.

It's a story about climbing the mountain from the least convenient direction. But you kept trying and eventually have found the best way to do it. Wacken live version of GLS is the most common among the majority of reactors. But there is no single right way to make this journey.
Your words about how music works sound very familiar for me. I too can't fall in love with anything from the very first glance. Even the best works of art I've seen acquired my high appreciation only after some tasting and thinking. Due to it, I find myself unsuitable for doing reactions, because viewers won't get much joy of looking at my usual stone face =)

I'm a bit late to this party, but here I am! This precise song started my journey in watching reactions. I was already a Nightwish fan, but I was a live performance skeptic and avoided the Wacken performance until I randomly decided to click on a reaction. I'm glad you found your way to truly appreciating the angelic mastery of Nightwish.
I'm new to your channel! In fact, this is the first video I've seen on your channel, and already I can say I appreciate your energy and your philosophy on music! You've got my sub. I've seen the Nightwish Army's passion for their love, and I would like to tip you off on another artist who has such an "army", or more accurately, a "Fam". He's a freestyle rapper by the name of Harry Mack. It looks like you've mainly been enjoying metal on this channel, and I love that! But if you're willing to give rap a chance, please check out Harry Mack. He's definitely rekindled my love for hip hop, and I've seen his videos act as an ambassador of hip hop. You don't need to like hip hop to enjoy his content, but if you happen to be a fan of hip hop, I believe it'll be both refreshing and addictive!
For direction, I'd recommend "Omegle Bars 45" to start, as it's generally a good starting point for a Harry Mack journey. Harry himself is hugely supportive of his community, and a testament to that is the fact that he doesn't make claims on reaction videos. His community also wants you to see the entire video. They tend to be longer videos, but if you want to fully experience his content, you definitely need to watch the entire thing (including his paid sponsorships), and I would recommend running the video back any time you pause. Lastly, I'd recommend you go in blind. It'll hit hardest that way. His fans will watch your entire video, regardless of how long it is.

I definitely plan on getting into rap and other genres in the future! I love metal and rock so it's an easy place to start especially with suggestions, but I really look forward to getting into other types of music. Thanks for the suggestion! I'll definitely add it to the list!
Funny that you mention Hans Zimmer, he's a great inspiration for Tuomas. And the "different singer" is the same one as the two previous reactions, Tarja Turunen. Anette Olzon (Their second singer) didn't have the vocal abilities to sing Ghost love score. Floor Jansen (Their third singer) came on board in 2012, mid world tout, after Anette was fired. Floor loved the song, she had seen and heard it live when she was on tour with Nightwish as supporting act with the band "After Forever". She asked Tuomas to put the song in the set list. And he did. There's some small differences between the original version with Tarja and Floors version. Among them is that the volume of the background choir have been turned down.
When the Wacken video was recorded Floor had been Nightwish's replacement singer for 10 months. Her first show was in Seattle WA Oct 1st 2012, 48 hours after arriving in the US to join the tour. The Wacken concert was recorded Aug 3rd 2013.

You probably know by now that the first version you listened to was not Floor. Floor added versatility and vocalizations that were not in the original and made the song her own. She has said that it's her favorite song to sing. New sub. Join the Army in the rabbit hole. 😀🤘

No wonder makes total sense. I had somewhat the same reaction the first time I heard Ghost Love score. I had heard amaranth with Annette and knew them from that. it's probably their most mainstream song. The first time I listed to Ghost Love Score I couldn't process it because it was so different than what I had been listening. I was stunned by Floors voice and watched it again the next day with a reactor. I was completely Floored pardon the pun. They changed my life completely. Never ever been a big fan person but I am now a big fan person.

I really appreciate you showing this journey. For me it sometimes also takes me a couple of listens to like a song. Many people will often give up on a song after a single try. But if there is a small spark for me that feel that it deserves another changes I'll give it and it can truly grow on me. I thought not many other people had this so you showing this journey really helps. And I'm happy you enjoyed it in the end because this version is amazing.

What I love about Nightwish is that their music is organic - it grows over time. I don't think I've heard too many older tracks that survive unchanged and expect the same thing to happen to their newest album. Keeps things interesting and fresh for everyone.
Tarja is fantastic, it’s just that Floor occupies an extra dimension.
It’s hard for me to believe now, but my first time hearing the song left me an interested. It was the same floor live version, but I just didn’t warm up to it initially. I wanted to like them and I checked other music but nothing resonated. Then maybe a year later I came across a reaction to it and listened, and then I may be checked out another one, and here I am today where Nightwish is the only thing I listen to and it’s mainly floors songs that I like. Not putting down anyone else, it’s just a preference. So what you said made total sense to me, even though in your case it was different singers different videos, it didn’t hit me right away either, but now I have listen to maybe a bazillion reaction videos of this particular song and I can’t get enough. Also interestingly enough, though it’s one of my favorite songs, I don’t really listen to it in the car, I mainly like watching the video.
The ONCE album had been recently re-mastered. Although I would have loved it with Floor's voice, it were the olde Tarja tracks. When I had a long journey by car last summer and fatigue started to grap me, I decided to fight it with music. That renewed ONCE album was my choice, as I never listened to it non-stop. Yet I noticed, that I was tiring even more while listening. Before I might have fell asleep to Tarja's voice, I switched to Nightwish' Buenos Aires concert in 2018 with Floor, which initially grapped me and let me feel re-invigorated in a way that I had no signs of any fatigue for the last 2,5 hours of my drive.

So you finally got there. For some, Tarja is possibly not the best place to start - if you don't like the full operatic sound, Floor will be an easier introduction perhaps.

In case you didn't notice you should look up the lyrics that the choir and the audience are singing. They are not the same as floor's and also change through the song. Tuomas is something of a genius, and when you are in the audience you can hear everyone singing that part and the audience becomes the choir with the band, it's amazing. Try singing them while you listen to it, it might change your connection to the song - maybe that'll be a 'sixth listen' chapter :)

But nice there was also a glimpse of the Buenos Aires 2012 version of GLS, as that was the place where Floor’s modifications to the song were executed completely for the first time. When she joined NW late 2012, it showed that she was not just a singer (Floor was also a songwriter in her previous bands) but had ideas to make existing songs better, or at least more suitable for her voice and style. GLS is a good example of that 🤓

So therefore, i dont buy 100% you like GLS "now" but the vid itself, as already Storytime Version, Hell did i laugh and grin, so, you wont get me off your Channel, i rant on about Humanity and how we suck, watching your Content. You have a point - some music is made for the live performance and doesn’t come across as awesome when all cleaned up in a studio setting - then again, you can also become more familiar with a track and get used to the nuances of it and it actually ‘grows’ on you! I think both scenarios has applied here….
Wow that is some serious commitment to a song reaction 😂 I am a fan now, but in the nineties I never listened to a full minute of their music. I just couldn't connect like you said. I hated Tarjas voice. At that point in my life it sounded so cold, hollow and dramatic. When I heard nightwish again, live in 2015 with Floor, I was instantly in love with the band. I haven't stopped listening since then. Now I can appreciate Tarjas voice, but live with Floor will always have my preference. She adds so much.

2013 Wacken is a high watermark in live concert recordings. The entire concert is epic, and I highly recommend that you react to all the songs from this amazing night. There are two kinds of Nightwish fans: those that were at this concert, and all the others that wish that they could go back in time to be there. Some of my favorites (that you’ve not already reacted to), Everdream, Song of Myself, Nemo, Last Ride of the Day. But, seriously, the whole concert.
Don't feel bad. I didn't like Tarja's Ghost Love Score back in the day either. I mean, it was my favorite track from Once but I listened to the orchestral version only.
Tarja is great but I didn't connect to it either.
Floor's version is my favorite song of all times now :)
