This channel is all about my model building techniques. I want to share with you how I build and somewhat customize the average model car and truck kits as well as the ups and downs of the hobby. I want to share my tips and tricks and even my mistakes with you guys. I am planning on building a variety of different vehicles from cars and trucks, to military vehicles (including ships and aircraft) to big rigs and whatever strikes me at the moment. I am also planning on doing some tool reviews and tutorials along the way.

2021 Dodge Charger R/T by AMT – Episode 70
Today I’m building this all new tooling 2021 Dodge Charger R/T by AMT. This build went as smooth as butter on a hot biscuit, and I’m not kidding ya. The tolerances between the parts are spot on. The only things that I had any issues with were the window templates and that I had to enlarge a bunch of the alignment holes. Other than that it went together beautifully.
I hope that you enjoyed watching this video as much as I did building the kit.

1973 Ford Bronco by Revell - Episode 69

Today I’m building this 1973 Ford Bronco by Revell. This was absolutely a ton of fun to put together. The DecoArt Garnet Red paint turned out perfect and looks absolutely stunning with the white accent pieces. Everything went into place on this kit perfectly, though I did have to open up some of the alignment pinholes (a minor detail ). This particular Bronco depicts a 1973 model year based on ...

Today I’m building this 1950 Chevrolet 3100 Union 76 sponsored pickup by AMT. This truck is a blast to put together and has a ton of potential to be anything that you want it to be. It comes with an inline six cylinder engine but has plenty of room for a V8 under the hood. There weren’t any surprises with this kit and everything went together without a hitch. With one exception. Watch to the en...
Meyers Manx by AMT - Episode 67

Today on the WorkBench, I am building the Meyers Manx Dune Buggy. This is an odd little car that I picked up just for the Crager S/S wheels that I used on my 1966 Wildcat build that was completed in February of 2023. I wasn’t going to just toss this kit out after scavenging the mags from it. So, I decided to build it. This thing is quite quirky with all of its small parts but it is quite a bit ...

Today on the WorkBench I am building this 1994 Ford F150 Lightning pickup from AMT. I purchased this kit on a clearance sale at a local Walmart last summer and finally decided to put it together. I have to admit I actually had fun putting this one together. With a minimal amount of flask and mold line cleanup this went together fast. I did a little something extra with the paint on this one, so...

Today I’m building this 1979 “Wild Hoss” Ford Bronco by AMT. This kit went together very easily with only one minor flaw. That flaw was the rear roof line had a slight warp to it making it a little tricky to get aligned with the back of the cab. Everything else on this kit went together with zero issues. I hope that you enjoyed watching this video as much as I did building the kit. Any Comments...

Today I’m building this 1985 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 by Revell. This particular kit has a long history and has been re-popped quite a few times over the years. This kit is a snap together. I was undecided before I bought this kit as to whether I wanted to spend the money on it. I found it at Hobby Lobby during their 40% off sale, so I didn’t pay full price for it. I was also undecided on whether o...

Today I’m building this 1965 Pontiac GTO Hardtop “Craftsman Series” by AMT. It’s been built “Box Stock” with one minor exception. If you have been following my channel for a while you know that I don’t believe that a model kit should come without an engine and this kit is no exception to that belief. So, I scoured the internet (Ebay) and was able to locate an engine for this kit. It’s a more mo...

Today I’m building this 2004 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 by Monogram. This kit was part of a haul from my local Ollie’s Discount Store that was done a few months ago. This kit was a pretty good builder except for the rear suspension was a little bit touchy. There were a few mis-fitting parts that had to be modified to fit correctly. The wheels fit very tightly to the axles and will not spin after th...

Today I am building this 2005 Cadillac Escalade EXT by AMT. This was a fun build but had a few minutes of frustration when it came time to assemble the front suspension. The kit comes with full glass. So, that means the interior is fully enclosed when completed. The body fit down tight over the chassis so glue was not necessary to hold everything together. When it came time to attach the wheels...

I added some extra parts to this build to give it a better look and you really sh...

Great build ! I prefer full complete long video, with talking on frustration , on kits !!
Thank You! I am happy to hear that you prefer talking through the video. I was somewhat concerned about that because it does add length to the video and I wasn't sure if folks preferred that or not. Thanks for the feedback!
I plan on building this kit sometime soon same or similar to the box art. I've always liked the box art colors. Your kit came out great.
Thank You! I wanted to do this one in the box art colors but with a certain flair. That's why I chose the pearlized colors over plain paint. It really looks great sitting on my shelf. Thanks for watching!
Great Build....I like the talking 😃
Thank you! and thank you for liking the talking. I have come to realize that it draws the videos out a bit and I was wondering if that was causing any issues. Thanks again
4 shifters ... i just opened this kit and had to look up a vid cause i was confused on all the pieces ...the engine have excellent detail both side on the hemi heads are detailed
For this being an MPC kit it surely didn't lack in the detail department. I did mess up the underhood paint job but other than that it turned out pretty well. This kit really does have a lot of potential to be almost anything that you can imagine. Thanks for watching!
Im in the process of wrapping this kit up right now. 27:15 my grille was a tight fit but it ultimately sat exactly where it needed to without that gap on the sides of the bumper. 3:21 i did end up sanding the bottoms of those pegs to make the body sit down on the chassis proper. I hazard a guess thats what allowed that grille to seat where it needed to, since the grille sort of rides on the bottom of the chassis. Without sanding the pegs, the chassis sort of sits too far down (or the body sits too high up rather) and causes that gap. However i did have a problem with hood clearance (the air cleaner was too high up.) Perhaps my engine was sitting too far forward. I ended up gouging some plastic out of the bottom of the air cleaner and sanding the top of the carburetors to give that hood enough clearance to fully close. I dont know if you or anyone will see this but, for anyone who might be working on this kit right now, here's something to keep in mind :)
I discovered after all was said and done ans the video was uploaded that I could have just shaved a tiny bit off of the front of the chassis and that would have created enough space for the bumper to fall into place. I wish that I would have discovered this beforehand. I don't remember if I shaved down the carbs to gain clearance or not as I did this build almost a year and forty builds ago. Thanks for the advice and the great comment and for the Sub!
Another great build!!!
Thank you! I'm glad that you liked it.
Awesome work, appreciate the tips along the way, it will be helpful when I get around to building mine :D
I'm glad that you found valuable information in my video. I try to point out the good and bad while I'm building in the hope that others will know what to watch out for when they build theirs. Thanks for watching!
I like the pearl in the paint. As for glue...I use about 4 or 5 different ones depending on what I want it to do. Tamiya for unpainted parts. Bob Smith Industries for painted parts. Each one has a different set time. And sometimes clear 5-minute epoxy when I know I'll need some time to move it. I like the talking btw. 🤙
Thank you! I was wondering if I was doing to much talking, or not enough... It causes the videos to go to long and I haven't found a way yet to keep the length down and still convey a message or thought to you the viewer. Thanks for adhesive advice. I have only ever used the orange tube and the Mod Podge. I did use CA glue for a while but discovered that I didn't care to much for it. Thanks again!
Looks amazing thanks for sharing 🙂
Thank you! and Thank You for watching!
Not a 100% sure on the taillights, but. A lot of newer vehicles have LED lighting, and on some. The red is only red when they are on. So, that may be duplicating something like that ? You may want to look at some pics of the real thing.
Thanks for the great reply! I have, like always, do a Google search for the real vehicle before starting a build. I look at the interior, exterior, the undercarriage, and multiple engine compartment angles. I don't recall seeing anything that represent that taillight decal. Everything looked just like I built it with just the red lens over simulated lights. It's all confusing what that decal was for but in the end it turned out good.
Thank you for sharing; When assembling painted parts, what type of glue are you using? recommend?
I use the orange tube glue on pretty much everything with one exception and that is the Mod Podge Dimensional Magic. I use the Mod Podge for doing around windows and sometime when I am gluing on headlight lenses etc. I always clean paint from surfaces where I am going to glue because the glue adheres to bare plastic better. As far as recommending a glue... Well, there are a plethora of available glues on the market for doing this hobby and unfortunately I only have experience with the two that I have previously mentioned.
@@scaleautoguysworkbench Feedback appreciated, thank you
That black cherry does look awesome!! Nice build. 👍
Thank you! and thanks for the Sub! This one actually turned out better than I thought it would.
I'm hoping that for my next project I can get my hands on one of these or a superbee I put together an old charger a year ago
There has been a re-pop of this kit. The new one has a green car on the box. The kit with the red car on the box is still available on Ebay starting at around $20.00. I believe the the Superbee is also available there as well. I have no idea what the price for that is.
Salut my friend super car super video subscribe subscribe ......
Thank You and Thank you for the Sub! Cheers!
Another great build. I’m digging the color combo.
Thanks! This color was actually purchased for another future build. I thought that it would look good on this Bronco and just went with it.
HEY-DAR 👊😎👍 You Are ONE of The Few Respected Model Builders that I was looking forward to getting a Shop-Card from 🤗 But For some reason after Asking MANY Times, leaving my ADD. Another great looking build, using craft acrylics. And, of course, watching you use the tube glue is like watching Michelangelo work in oils! Great job, thanks for sharing.
Thank you! Comparing me to Michelangelo is quite an honor but I'll take it LOL. I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching!
Great job on this build, choice of colors is spot on 👌
Thank you! I like to get the colors somewhat coordinated together.
Hello my friend I wanted to let you know that I am thoroughly impressed by your work with this build it sure is gorgeous
Thank You! It did turn out quite well.
Fantastic build. I love the color combination
Thank You! I flip flopped on whether I should go with the white or the tan like I used on the seats. I went with the white because of the white decals.
Sweet Bronco !!
Thank You!
73 Bronco came out nice. My spare tire carrier flops around.😊
Thank you. The tire carrier on mine flops a little as well. I put an extra coat of paint on the pins, let it dry, and then pushed it into brackets. It's still movable, but the extra paint tightens the clearance of the pins and provides some resistance so that it doesn't just flop with the breeze. Don't know how long that will last, but it works for now.
Wow that turned out well. Really love what you did with this. Appreciate the tips and tricks, I have this kit and now I have a good reference on what to look out for when I get around to it.
Thank you. This kit went together really nice, but there are just enough challenges to keep it interesting. That red paint was originally bought for another upcoming build. I thought that it would look great on this one as well.
Great job on ur bronco.love it thanks
Thank you!
The colors play off of each other well, nice build!
Thank you. I thought that they would.
Awesome build, great job. I like the color combo 👍😎
Thank You! I actually bought that color for another build but I thought that it would look good on this one as well.
I’m definitely a fan of that color, great choice. I think I have a version of this kit, with a trailer and race vehicle? Sound familiar? I have far too many kits I’ve completely lost track.
Thank You! Revell does make another Bronco with a half cab and a dune buggy. It's kit number 85-7228 and is listed at the Revell website. I do not have that kit right now. I have quite a few kits as well and I couldn't tell you every kit in the stash. It's a disease but one that I am happy to have.
@@scaleautoguysworkbench oh absolutely. I know I’ll never be able to build them all before I depart this existence but I just keep buying. No regrets
Another great build
Thank You! This was a fun build as well. I had zero issues with it that was the kits fault. It's rare these days to get a kit that is basically flawless.
The side marker lights were introduced in 1968.
According to a few searches that I conducted the side marker lights were mandatory in 1970. Here's what I discovered through one of my searches, "Initially, the regulation for 1968-1969 required lights or reflectors, which is why some cars in 1968 had amber lights in front and red reflectors in the rear (1968 Ford Motor Company cars, for example). Chrysler vehicles used lights in 1968 and reflectors (on most models) for 1969. This regulation was later amended to require lights and reflectors on all vehicles made on January 1, 1970 or later, which is why most lines had changes to their side marker lights for the 1970 model year." Changes to the federal law in 1970 made it a requirement to have marker "lights" on all vehicles. So, you are correct but the lights were optional in 1968 not required until 1970.
Beautiful. Bet it looks real nice next to the 79 Bronco from earlier.
It looks kind of funny actually because of the size difference. They both look good together but just a tiny bit odd...
Fantastic build!!!!!
Thank You!
Nice build.....looks sharp 👍
Thank you! I like the contrasting colors and it turned out better than I had imagined
Looks great. Great video, nice build 😊 Have a great weekend.
Thank You! My videos of late have been running longer for some reason. This build turned out better than I had thought that it would. Happy Saturday
That's not all your missing mine came with the two bigger tires
I wanted to use the bigger tires that were once in this kit but they were obviously more useful to the previous owner. Sometimes, you just have to do what you can with what you have. LOL
This is one of my favorite trucks of all time definitely gonna get this one I’m gonna turn it into a different branded truck though
This has become one of my favorite trucks. The only thing that I wasn't to fond of was the flimsy front suspension pieces. Getting the proper separation between the paint colors was a little bit of a challenge due to the curvature of those fat fenders in the front. The bed on this thing turned out so good that I almost forgot that I put it together. Overall, this was super fun to build and that's why I'm happy that I accidentally bought two of them. The next one... Well, it might not be a box stock build...
what colors do you use for paint?
For this build I used Touch N Tone gray primer on everything and for the main color on the cab, sleeper and the hood I used Createx Airbrush Colors Pearl Blue. I then used Createx Gloss Top Coat for the clear. All other colors were assorted craft paints from Apple Barrel and Folk Art. Hope this helps...
Glad to know I'm not the only one that had some troubles with this kit! Yours turned out a helluvalot better looking than mine did. Im wondering: how do you clean your brushes off? Or do you use one specific brush for one color only? I don't see my brushes as disposable and i like to use the same brushes for different colors but I find it annoying to clean them, especially if I accidentally let the paint dry on 😬
Thank You! As far as my brushes go... Well, I have about half a dozen brushes that I use consistently. I clean them after every use. When I am using acrylic paints I just clean them with tap water. I keep an old water bottle on the bench that has tap water in it. I use the cut off bottom half of an old water bottle to clean my brushes in. I just pour some water into it and clean my brushes that way. When I am using Testors paints I use mineral spirits to clean the brushes in. Sometimes, I will go from acrylic paint to Testors enamel with a quick clean in between the different paints. When the paint is still wet on the brush it will come right off and only takes a few seconds to clean it and I have found it to be a good habit to clean the brush when I am finished with one color. I reuse my brushes as long as possible and my brushes are old and just about worn out. I recently bought some new ones at Hobby Lobby that I plan to start using soon. Thanks for watching and subscribing and I hope that this response helps you.
@@scaleautoguysworkbench mineral spirits huh. I'll keep that in mind. 90 percent of the time I'm using the Testors paints in the little glass jars. I've used plain water, water and dish soap, and even rubbing alcohol in my little rinsing bowl. I just felt like the plain water never got the job done with the Testors paints. I've also got a bad habit of leaving paint on brushes while I work on another part of a different color, with the intent to come back to it shortly. But sometimes I forget and the paint dries on. Thanks for the advice I appreciate it!
Looks amazing.
Thank You!
Very nice and Blue! I'm going with your choice in assembly as I'm building same model to be painted Red for my Lady friend also named Red! Thanks buddy, it's a winner, I can't lose!!! Ha! Peace and Love to you and family!
Thank You! I am glad that I helped to inspire your build! I agree that this kit would look fantastic in red and I'm sure that your lady friend is going to love it! Thanks for watching!
Great build, really like the metallic colors for the two tone 👌
Thanks! I figured that if I was going to go with the box colors I would make it a little bit fancier. Thanks for watching!
I built this one and had no problems with it. On your createx paint, did you have to thin it down at all? I picked up some of these and was going to use my old passche siphon feet with a number 5 tip. And suggestions on it? Thanks.
I did a 70/30 (approximately) with the Createx reducer. It can be sprayed straight from the bottle, but I was using a #3 tip at the time, so I thought that I would cut it just a little.
Thanks for the info. I appreciate it.
Fuck up a great 58 Ghevy mate
That Chevy was messed up straight out of the box of parts that I bought many years ago. It was partially broken in half and had no other parts to go with it to effect a rebuild. So, that is why it is being used in this role. Besides all of that, if I wanted to build it, all I would have to do is strip it for the 20th time and build it. I already have two built 58's in my collection, so I'm not missing this one.
Another great build, love the colors. That bed looks fantastic! Thanks!
Thank You! I have found that doing a wood like accent isn't really that difficult. After priming I laid down two coats of Apple Barrel Real Brown (acrylic craft paint) with a medium width brush. Pulling the paint in a straight-ish line with the "grain of the wood". It usually turns out quite well. Thanks for watching!
Nice build 👍
Thank You!
EXCELENT BUILD 🏆🏆🏆and the clear is just great ... what kind of clear did you spray
Thank You! I used the Createx Airbrush Colors Gloss Top Coat on this one. It's an interesting clear as it doesn't need to be thinned down to spray it and it has a decent shine to it. It's not 2k or anything but still looks pretty good.
@@scaleautoguysworkbench thanks for answer my question
@@roquesaparedes5790 You're welcome!
How did you make the hood open?
The hood comes molded open in this kit. Even if it hadn't, it could have been opened fairly easily using the back side of a #11 blade.
Can t see what ur doing, I can see box tho
This is one of my early videos and I apologize for the bad angles etc. At this time I was still learning the camera and I hadn't figured out my distances and angles yet.
Turned out great, color looks awesome!
Thank You! It is an interesting color and I have used it once or twice before. I really liked that Mica powder as well. I have had that for about 15 or so years and had never tried it in clear coat before.
I have the Elvis Presley version of the same model. Molded in Yellow with only the clear windshield glass. It's missing the vinyl off road ties too. But it does have lots of decals.
Sounds cool! Those off-road tires are a dime a dozen. You could probably pick up a set from eBay really cheap if you wanted to. I never knew that this was done in an Elvis Pressly edition. Thanks for sharing!
Another nice lookin' build. I like how you tossed that steering rack across the bench! I figured the directions weren't very clear as to where it went! I may be guilty of the same thing, particularly if the part isn't very visible on the finished kit. Thanks!
Thank you! Yeah, that wasn't one of my finer moments caught on video. Sure, I could have cut that part when I edited but I thought I would leave it in for comedic effect and to show even guys building on UA-cam don't always have it going on. That front suspension had me wanting to smash something. The directions were so vague that most of the build was made by guessing and test fitting multiple times. In the end, I think it turned out pretty good. Thanks for watching!
