  • Today, I am working on a tribute build of a car that my mom once had way back when I was a child. That car is the 1963 Ford Galaxie 500. There are differences between hers and this kit car but I built it as close to hers that I could get it. The main differences are that hers was a four door and it had an automatic transmission instead of this one’s four speed.
The interior colors are as close as my memory will allow me to get it. I remember the seats being white and I think that it had a maroon colored carpet but I might be mistaken. I was a little kid then.
I hope that you enjoyed watching this video as much as I did building the kit.

Great job on that Galaxie build! I love the dark red and white interior. The trim on the door panels looks nice, and also the bare metal on the exterior trim. Even after 60 years, the model still holds up pretty well even though it is simpler than newer models.

Thank You! With this being a tribute build I wanted it to be as close to what I remember my mom's car being. Unfortunately, she will never get to see this as she passed away 23 years ago. It does help bring back some memories though. Thanks for watching!

Boy that foil you put on your cars really makes your work stand alone.
Have enjoyed several of your build videos now.
Keep up your great work and I'll catch ya on another one 💪👍

Thank You! I have used foil for about twenty years now. I think that it brings out overall appearance of a build. I have tried silver Sharpie's etc. and in my opinion, they don't look as good as the foil. Thanks for watching!

Thank you! I guess because my mom had one, would explain my attraction to the car. Of course, the one she had wasn't what you would call "flawless." It caught on fire at least twice that I can remember. Thanks for watching!

Thanks! The cars in this kit really do build up nice. Way back when I first purchased this, I knew then what I wanted to do with this particular car. It's taken a while but I finally got to it. I think that I have another 63 Galaxie in my stash and I might do something like a Pro Street conversion with it. Or at least do something other than a stock build with it. I wanted this one though for the tribute build.

HEY-DAR 👊😎👍: Nice Build, You did a sweet job. MOD PODGE acrylic piss-can clear!? Never seen that before. Ever try clearing over BMF? It seals it in, don't have to worry about it lifting over the years and don't have to worry about catching it when your polishing the body, just a f.y.i Watch You Later, (MODEL CAR)🎭(MAN CAVE)

Thank You! I like using the Mod Podge for attaching the glass. It dries clear and doesn't destroy the plastic. If you get a little somewhere that you don't want, it cleans up with a little water. I have never tried clearing over BMF. Actually never thought about doing that. I have cars that were built over 20 years ago with BMF on them and it is still holding. I usually do all of the polishing before BMF application. So, catching or accidentally ripping it off is generally not an issue for me. Thanks for watching!

@@scaleautoguysworkbench HEY-DAR 👊😎👍: Just an f.y.i if you do consider clearing over BMF put a piece on a plastic spoon first and do a spray out to see what the reaction will be like. Wouldn't want to ruin allot of work. Watch You Later, (MODEL CAR)🎭(MAN CAVE)
