  • Today on the WorkBench,
    I am fresh out of the hospital (10 days ago) from some pretty major surgery. I was bored to tears from sitting around doing nothing, so I decided to build something light, quick and fun. I had picked this up in the clearance aisle at my local Walmart a few weeks ago and it was featured in my Walmart haul video ( • My haul from the Walma... ). Coming in at just 33 parts I figured that it wouldn’t be too strenuous on my body to throw it together and help beat back some of this boredom.
    Anyway, I hope that you enjoy watching this video as much as I did building the kit.

    Dear Sir, Thank You! For your video as well as your build. PERFECT! At 64 yrs young I remember when this plastic model kit first came out in 1966 by the Aurora Plastics company. A tie-in with the Green Hornet Tv Show 1966-1967 on ABC Tv. Now, Polar Lights has made "New" steel molds from orig. kit. Polar Lights has re-issued is kit many times over in a long box and now a smaller box. If only their had been figures of the Green Hornet and Kato at the wheel. "Let's Roll Kato!" Hope "YOU" are feeling better now! M.S.Holder (i.e Fellow Modeler and Green Hornet Tv Show 66'-67' Cos-player) "Feel The Sting Of The Green Hornet!" (P.S. Watch Out for "New" Green Hornet Car "Black Beautry" by AMT Later on is year! 1:24 With figures two! WoW!

      You're very welcome! I had heard that they were coming out with a 1/24th scale version of this kit later this year and I just watched a video of an unboxing of that kit over at HpiGuys. Looks like it will be an interesting kit to build. I vaguely remember watching the show when it was on TV ( I was only about 5 when it aired ) but remember watching re-runs of the show. Thanks for watching!

      Thanks! This was done a week or so after I got home from surgery. I was getting a little stir crazy and needed something to do that wasn't to strenuous. At that point it was more comfortable to sit in my office chair than anywhere else in the house.

      Thank You! Like I mentioned in the video, this was a simple and fun little kit to throw together for now. I am getting better by the day after this fairly major surgery. It has been 21 days since that day and although I am occasionally reminded through twinges of pain I am doing better each day. Thank you for watching!

    Really nice build. Ive built this kit and found it was a little too simple. It had a lot of flaws. It was fun correcting as many as i could. This is a good kit for a beginner in the hobby or for a quick easy build like you say.

      Thank You! Comparatively speaking, this kit WAS a little to simple. I haven't built one this easy in quite a few years, but when a person is in pain from just having surgery and still has to get a video out well, this fit the bill perfectly.

      Thank You. As you may know (or not), I am a 20 year Navy veteran. I spent in total almost 1 full year in the northern Persian Gulf, on two separate six month deployments, during the early 90's. Due to my exposure to that area and the burn pits, I am considered to be a PACT Act veteran. As a result of that, I have been diagnosed with kidney cancer. On June 20th, 2023, I lost my right kidney due to a 8.3cm mass that had formed and was later determined to be stage 3 cancer. Other than the usual aches and sometimes extreme pain associated with surgery, I am doing fine. I have a full year of immunotherapy ahead of me yet, but I am looking forward to getting back to producing videos at a faster pace than what I am currently doing. I have a bonus video that I am hoping to get out by this coming Saturday (7/15/23). So, keep an eye out for that. Thank you for watching my videos. I hope that you're doing well since your visit to the hospital. Get well soon!

      @@jamesmaroon6161 Thank you for the sub! I have been building models since I was about 7 years old. My mom used to work for MPC in Mt. Clemens, Michigan around that time and my brother and I would get first run kits all of the time, it's a great hobby to be in. My last tour of duty I was a load master on an LCU out of Norfolk, VA. where I spent my last two and a half years in. It turned out to be the best tour of duty that I had the entire twenty I was in. I currently live in Michigan. The winters here sometimes really suck but the rest of the year it's great.

      Thank You! Rumor has it that the 1/25th scale will be out soon. According to Round 2 website they are working to get it out by the third quarter of this year. So that could be within the next six to eight weeks or so. I'll have to check that out when it arrives. This build was so very basic that it was easy to build. As I mentioned in the video, it was the perfect kit to build after just having had fairly major surgery especially for the amount of pain that I am currently experiencing.

    Your build turned out great. Very nice paint job , that's all i ever use are rattle cans. Have a airbrush and I've never used it. I've built two or three of these over the years. But I wasn't happy with any of them. . And it wasn't my work , it's just the quality of the kit.. This kit and the Spindrift space ship from Land of the Giants . Both of those are just plain bad. But now AMT and Model Round-Up have just released a brand new Black Beauty in 1-25th scale.. It's really nice , and very detailed .. It's around $35 - $40... Check it out , it's definitely a big difference from this kit.

    • @scaleautoguysworkbench
      @scaleautoguysworkbench  10 місяців тому

      Thanks! I use a mixture of both rattle cans and airbrush. I like using both and often do on most of my builds. I generally don't build much in this scale but thought that this one would be quick and easy to do. Especially after just having returned home from the hospital just a few days prior to doing this video. I have seen reviews for the new 1/25 scale release. Looks like it will be a great one to get and build. Just might have to get one of those to find out. Thanks for watching!

    • @scaleautoguysworkbench
      @scaleautoguysworkbench  Рік тому

      I have been using Mod Podge for some time now. It dries clear and doesn't discolor or distort any plastic like typical, red tube glue does. The only downside that I noticed is that it dries kind of slow. Sometimes I have to clamp, angle or weigh down parts until it cures but once it has the part stays put.
