  • Today on the WorkBench, I am working on the 2001 edition of the 1970 Ford Torino Cobra by Revell. This kit went together pretty much flawlessly with the exception of the decals. They on the other hand, well, let’s just say that they didn’t survive the test of time.
This is a beautiful rendition of the Torino Cobra and I highly recommend building one if you have the means to do so.
I hope that you enjoyed watching this video as much as I did building the kit.

I learned a good trick from you on taping the glass in to hold it still while the modge podge set up.. I will do that on the one I'm working on now. Thanks for posting. It's a good looking car. I will watch all of your videos.

Eeally cool looking ride. Just wish they'd make a dedicated NASCAR version.

Thank You! A NASCAR version would be really cool! I wouldn't think that it would be horribly difficult to convert one of these into one though.

Very nicely done, brother. I have a friend that has 2 of these cars, one looks just like the box art. The other is a super rare Richard Petty edition.🤓👍

@@codyrhea1042 Are you referring to part number 80 in step 1 of the direction sheet? They show that in this section I guess so that you are aware that there is an upper radiator hose that is supplied for the engine. This hose and the air cleaner assembly doesn't go on the engine until you get to step 10. It is a little bit abnormal in construction compared to what you would normally find in an average kit. Usually the engine and the transmission are one piece ( in two halves ). It's just a different way to reach the same goal, I guess.

Love how this turned out! I know what you mean about the decals. I’m currently building the Revell 60 Impala kit from 1998. I tried to use the seat decals & they just came apart as soon as I tried to use them. Makes you wonder at what point decals start to degrade. 10 yr mark ? I’m sure it depends on how the model has been stored in the past with previous owners.

Thank You! I bought this kit from Ebay around ten years ago or so. I have no idea how it was treated prior to arriving at my house but it has been kept in a dark closet and no warmer than 75 degrees since then. It's just age and the fact that decals from yesteryear aren't as good as the upgraded decals of today. For instance, decals from back then would have to soak in warm water for an extended period of time. Compare that to today's decals which are ready to be applied within a few seconds after being submerged. Sometimes progress can be a good thing.

HEY-DAR 👊😎👍: I had this oversized box model in my stash many years ago sealed, never seen the contents, thanks for the review. Looks like a nicely detailed kit. A fellow piss-canner we're rare and precious lol. A brush painter too! Now if you bust out some tube glue, am gonna cry 😭 LOL, THERE'S the GLUE, that's classic. I got those pink clamps too, you sure this ain't MY MAN-CAVE Your in? Shhhh, I thought I heard something the the basement??? I heard somewhere put a coat of clear over the decals then cut them out as close to the decals as possible. Also looking for Shop-Cards, you happen to have them? Let me know. This build turned out very nice, I sense a LIKE coming. Watch You Later, (MODEL CAR😎MAN CAVE)

MAybe the thing you heard in your basement was the oversized box calling out to you to get building... I never thought about putting clear coat over the decals, I may have to try that someday. If you would like a shop card you can contact me a few different ways. You can private message me through Facebook messenger @scaleautoguy or you can contact me through email scaleautoguy@gmail.com with your address and I will send a shop card to you. If you don't let me know where to send one, well... I can't send one... I am glad that you enjoyed this video. From one piss-canner to another, thanks for watching!

There's a guy selling one on Ebay right now about $61 after shipping. If that's a little out of your price rand Revell has recently re-issued this kit and you can get one for around $30 or so. Based on the little bit of research that I conducted this is the same exact kit with an upgraded decal sheet. So, it is available, just in a different looking box. If that Bronco is the "Wild Hoss" version it goes together really nice.

@@codyrhea1042 The only thing I didn't like about that kit was the front suspension. It has those thin torsion/sway bars and the directions aren't very clear on where they attach. Other then that it's a great kit, way better than the GMC Jimmy kit that I did a while back,
