      Thanks for subscribing! I’m just using a cheap Scosche BTFM9 FM modulator. It supports hands free calling but I just use it for music. You will get less radio interference if you choose the lowest frequencies 88.1-89.9. Also if you don’t listen to radio, don’t screw in your antenna and you won’t get random interference on long road trips. We bought the dash mat when truck was new in ‘97. I’ll have to see if it still has the manufacturer on it next time I’m in the truck.

    Man it needs a Corvette servo to fix that sluggish shifting. I never thought mine sucked till the trans went out and when I got it rebuilt I put one in, and now WOT slams through the gears. Mostly 1-2 and 2-3. It’s definitely worth it

    • @doctube2020
      @doctube2020 6 місяців тому

      I’ve thought about doing the servo mod but don’t want to kill the original trans with over 218k on it. The tune firmed up the shifts but compared to the newly rebuilt trans in my 03 suburban the high mileage trans in this truck does shift soft.

    • @clarksgarageofbadhabits6803
      @clarksgarageofbadhabits6803 6 місяців тому

      @@doctube2020 The servo will do the opposite of killing it. The “soft” shifting it does now is what’s wearing it out. The servo will provide better apply pressure, which means there’s less time of “slipping” inside the trans prolonging the life. It doesn’t shift “crazy hard” until like WIDE open if you’re going through the gears. It’s easy to cruise around with too!

    I’m pretty ignorant about the subject, but I’ve heard that the tcases on these are junk, and this is coming from a master tech & a GM enthusiast I know. • @doctube2020

      Google GM transfer case pump rub. It’s a well publicized issue but remember GM cranked out Millions of these SUVs and trucks. People come to the internet to complain. Yes it can be an issue but it’s not a guaranteed problem in every one. I have an 03 suburban with 177k on it. No issues with transfer case or front / rear differential. GM used a few different transfer cases and they take different fluid depending on which case you have. The AWD Yukon takes normal Dex/merc ATF. My suburban has a selectable 2hi, 4hi, 4lo and auto mode transfer case. You must use the blue GM fluid for autotrac transfer case. If you’re thinking of buying any used vehicle take it to a trusted mechanic and have them go over the vehicle. If the seller won’t allow this or wants you to use their mechanic that’s a red flag and walk away.

Anyway, I drove it from the twin cities of MN to Wichita, KS, back again & half way back again 6 months later, and a few times in Kansas before selling it, and for a (then) 17+ y/o truck it did pretty darn good, other than an alternator that happened to wait to go out until during my road trip, as well as typical rust (which was actually pretty clean for MN standards). @@doctube2020I picked up my 05 Burb Z71 in 2022 for $2,300. It had 350k+ miles on original motor, and the trans was rebuilt prior to my purchase. I've done regular maintenance, changed one wheel hub and new tires. Will get new engine in future. Torn on 5.3L or 6.0, I'm seeing people say the 6.0 has too much torque for the factory trans. Idk, when it was rebuilt if they upgraded it or not, my guess would be probably not. So if I baby it and don't drive like a dummy, the trans may last with the stronger 6.0. I do plan on doing long distance towing with the vehicle and it did come with trailer brake installed already . Now it's still

      @monkeywrench3046 Traditional tune where you send in your ECM. Supposedly you can get a hotter tune and it’s customized to your vehicle with the auto cal scan cable tune but that’s a lot more $$$. I’m happy with the traditional tune

    • @doctube2020
      @doctube2020 10 місяців тому

      That was purchased about 20 years ago from JC Whitney or LMC truck. Word of caution, be sure to remove it every few Months as they slowly collect dirt which holds water which leads to the front of the hood rusting out. Maybe they’ve improved them to just stick on and not bolt underneath the hood.

    You haven't been very impressed with their support? I've had this cover on 3 trucks. On my current truck my Extang cover broke. I e-mailed them pictures of the cover and receipt and in only one week they shipped a new cover to my house at NO cost to me. From the first e-mail to the cover arriving at my front door only took one week. The only down side to these covers is that they leak. I use mine to lock tools and materials in my truck, if they get a little wet it's not the end of the world. I can quickly remove and reinstall the cover (in less than 5 minutes) when I have to haul anything big. I love this bed cover, if it did not leak it would be perfect.
