    NOT recommended if you frequent washboard roads. FYI - Driving down a heavily washboarded road will cause the cover to completely move from it’s secured position. It didn’t fall off the truck but moved over to one side where there was 4 a 6” hanging over the side of the bed. Had to remove and reinstall. Yes the front clamps were tight. Highway use the rear will shift 1” to one side but the front stays in position

    I sell these all the time and have virtually no problems Our best selling hard folding cover. NO cover maker guarantees their cover to be waterproof!

      Mine locks and won’t fold anymore. Can you give me some direction on how to take it apart so I can get it to fold back?

    • @tonybranton
      @tonybranton Рік тому +1

      @@cpsbodie1 they need the long seals lubricated and then they may have to be forced a little to break loose but they will get stuck in position if they get dry or dirty and aren’t lubricated on those seals. There are two at each fold that go all the way across the lid. Use armorall or most any rubber preservative with silicone will slick it up

      Thanks, it has been OK, definitely could be better for the price. If you frequent rough or washboarded roads get a different cover. This one will completely move from its position. It stays in place on highway but will sometimes move side to side a little.

    Good to know about the washboard roads! I hadn’t thought of that and travel washboard 17 km in and out a few times per week 😊

      I’d suggest a cover that is more secured down that has a track or several brackets to keep it in place instead of just 4 clamps, 2 of which are plastic in the rear on the extang solid fold 2.0

    Thank you for the good review. The issues you brought up are the items I was worried about. I believe I am going to get the Peragon cover instead for similar price.

      I have owned a paragon for three years, I believe they leak more than this Extang. And I have had parts break that stop it from over flexing. I can’t recommend them over similar priced covers, as much as I love the look.

    This is nice but like the encore series too. Do wish it was more flush with side of bed. I have a hard cover now needs re painted. Thought about one of these for bed use when needed. Tough decision.

    Had one on my ‘16 and it was perfect. One one my ‘18 doesn’t cover the rear holes on the top of the bed.

    You haven't been very impressed with their support? I've had this cover on 3 trucks. On my current truck my Extang cover broke. I e-mailed them pictures of the cover and receipt and in only one week they shipped a new cover to my house at NO cost to me. From the first e-mail to the cover arriving at my front door only took one week. The only down side to these covers is that they leak. I use mine to lock tools and materials in my truck, if they get a little wet it's not the end of the world. I can quickly remove and reinstall the cover (in less than 5 minutes) when I have to haul anything big. I love this bed cover, if it did not leak it would be perfect.

    Thanks for the review. I see you're still able to lift the back corner after shifting the cover by hand towards the end of the video. Do you have the older rear spring loaded clamps pre 2017 or do you have the newer EZ-lock clamps they started using a couple years ago for the tailgate end of the cover? The new clamps are supposed to eliminate that loose springyness after its clamped down.
    Considering this cover for my truck , but question its security. Seems better than the pull cable latches on the tri folds though.

      I ordered this April 2018 so maybe I have the older clamps. The rear clamps are plastic (even the spring loaded threaded part). They are self adjusting, no manual adjustment. They always have the small amount of play when latched

    Hey Thanks for the video. I have a Gladiator 2020. I'm concerned about the leaking. What's the opinion on adding some weather stripping such as for your house windows to secure the AC air?

    • @doctube2020
      @doctube2020  4 роки тому

      Some people have done that along the perimeter with good results. However, I get some drips at the folds as well which has a special seal from the factory.

    Thanks for the video. Good info. Nice truck, by the way. I just bought a 2020 Tundra TRD Off Road, and I'm looking for a bed cover.

      Whatever you do, do not buy a BAK. These covers are really nice and closest to Toyota OEM.

      i have it on my Tundra and it sits tight no water infiltration its all about the installation

    • @doctube2020

      @tonyb0164 What bed cover did you decide on for your Tundra? I seriously considered a Tundra when I was in the market. Can't beat Toyota reliability! I wanted crew cab AND 6.6' bed in a 1500. There is a company that converts crewmax trucks to accept a stock 6.6' bed. They cut and lengthen the frame + longer drive shaft. So far the GMC has been good.

    After reading reviews and studying every UA-cam video available for the Tacoma and the Solid Fold 2.0 I optomistically placed my order. However, everything that could go wrong, went wrong. I received a poorly packaged product with broken parts, after very careful installation the cover warped. It leaks like crazy and it's highly overpriced. I recommend you find an alternative product.

    What do you protect your cover with? Seems nice and dark. Bought a 2015 truck that has one. Not as dark as your cover. I was thinking 303 Protectant or maybe Car Pearl.

      Try Extang 1181 Tonno Tonic Ive never put anything on it 3 years. Try to keep it out of the sun as much as you can but mine has seen plenty.

      @@doctube2020 Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I don't have any shade. My house, and I'm not exaggerating, gets intense sun all but 2 hours out of the day. My siding is like chalk because of the intense sun. I have a single car garage but my truck is too big for it. I just today received my new polishers and a bunch of pads as it's critical for me to get some protection on my trucks black paint. As for the cover, I called Extang and they recommended Meguiar's Quick Detailer. I'll probably end up using 303 Protectant on it. I just don't want to stain it. Problem is 303 doesn't last that long so I'll need to put it on often.

    Pretty sure the rear (near tailgate) clamps are adjustable although spring loaded. You should be able to get it much tighter than that...

    • @gardenman3
      @gardenman3 3 роки тому +1

      I have one of those on a 2000 dodge ram. Bought it 2 years ago. The rear clamps are adjustable and spring loaded. Rear fits very tight. Does not move at all. I think you can get new clamps for it. I agree they could have made it to fit the bed better. Bed tapers from front to back. Cover does not.
