Better without music

DA40 owner here. Why do you use both taxi light and landing light? I know at night landing light is ahead and longer while taxi shines to right and closer to nose? Just wondering….

Excellent that you have the ticket and using it. Opens up so many more flights for you. Working on my PPL at DFC and you taking off on 12 is looking so familiar. Just need more circuits 😡 before solo and hopefully get up there with you. Looking forward to more IMC flight videos.

Great video, love the star wars themed subtitles. If you could incorporate a screenshot of your foreflight with the IFR procedures during the video when you have been cleared, it'd be super informative and fun to watch!

I was on the taxiway at Waterloo in a 2006 Diamond DA40 on April 25 behind a few planes waiting to depart runway 08 when I heard a familiar voice over the radio say, Waterloo Tower, EYZ holding short runway 08 ready for departure. I look up and sure enough right in front of me was you and your plane. I think Diamond must have raised the plane higher over the years as it looked much taller than the Diamond I was flying, if that makes any sense. Maybe it was just my imagination. Your Diamond DA40 NG looks fantastic in person.

Congrats!!! I can totally appreciated this as I just did my first night landing in over 10 years and it is a whole different experience.... I'm working on my US Commercial License so we have to have 10 landings at night from the patterm... Hope I get to the "Butta Stage" ... I worked with the Diamond distributor Andy James when we started with the first DA-40’s. I have a lot of hours delivering planes after the sale. When I get my next plane, (personal) it will be the NG. Thanks for the ride…

How long did this trip take?

Not to stir up the pot, and certainly not to be a jerk: I was a controller in the US for over 25 years, much of it at busy GA airports in California (mainly SFO Bay Area). It sounds like the Canadian system has a much more restrictive/positive form of controlling than the US when it comes to VFR ops. Almost seemed a sort of semi-IFR type of control where everyone's separated vertically by 500' in the "control zone" (our 'Delta' airspace) until such time that they can come in and join the pattern. Also appeared there was a restriction on how many aircraft could be in the pattern or even the zone at the same time but I could be wrong on that. With those restrictions the controllers did a good job (I assume one was in training) but it appeared to be double the workload for half the traffic I used to work. Not bragging mind you, I don't want to be interpreted as the 'ugly American' here, but it was like night & day to the way we work VFR ops in the States. Thank God you guys have Canadian whiskey and Molson's up there. I'd need a barrel or keg of each every night if I had to work like that. Oh, wait, I do...but it took 25+ years to get there. ;-)

I thought flying would be a peaceful activity. I've done a bit of training but it's not what I imagined. Keep on flying and stay safe.

In my opinion this is just another example of too much money to purchase a $250,000 advanced aircraft and pass a pilot check with little regard for the responsibility needed to make the system safe. This seems to reflect our self-indulged society today..
