  • ...had a surprise visit from my brother-in-law during Canadian Thanksgiving, and we took the opportunity to have our first flight together. We were lucky with both the weather and getting cleared into the city centre for a low and over at the Toronto Billy Bishop City Airport and then a flight across the downtown core. I didn't plug in the mic correctly, so if you want to skip the flight montage, jump to about 3:15 for the city tour portion (the mic was plugged in correctly for that portion of the video). Thanks for watching !!

As Ayman said that’s super cool 😅
Loved the CYTZ approach, the clouds and the views 😊

Looks like a great first flight for your brother-in-law, David, nicely done! The approach into CYTZ looked really low and shallow; was it, or did it just appear that way because it was over water?

For sure, it was a lower than normal approach....wanted to fly along the skyline and keep my speeds up, as the climbing turn was coming, with limited space as the Pearson control zone is not far from City Centre

@@diamondeyz6333 One suggestion David is to select and load the instrument procedure for the associated airport and runway - most approaches are LPV or LNAV+V and provide advisory glideslope information which helps to keep on glidepath, even during VFR approaches or where there is no PAPI.
Are you also going to work toward an instrument rating? I'm doing mine right now in the DA42 and I believe it's critical for safety for longer cross country flights (while also avoiding icing in a non de-iced aircraft of course).

@@pjgallant Thanks Peter, always appreciate comments.....I am super familiar with City Centre, as I did all my PPL training there, but great suggestion. I am about to dig into my IFR training.....I took on a work contract, 1 month after I got my PPL and it required all of my attention, so had to put further training on hold. That is ending in 9 days, so setting up to dig into the IFR world. Have had a great time flying around VFR, but super motivated and excited to enter the IFR world!
