cold water in Ocean County NJ has the fluke bite non existent for me in the surf so far this season

This is very interesting but the cut life short and make it easy for those that don’t know just fish. The white wash area where the wave comes in that’s where the fish are hunting OK so you try and cast so that you can work your jerk bait or whatever you’re using to your advantage in the low wateralong the beach, not out in the deep deep they’re all along the shoreline close to where the waves are breaking

Went out Wednesday morning outgoing tide Monmouth County NJ and fished a trough similar to yours. Caught many many fish but all were shorts, wondering if I need deeper water.

It's worth remembering that sand bars are moving all the time with different tides and winds and waves. I'm jealous of your fishery up there. I live by the Chesapeake Bay and I fish for flounder a lot. So far it's been the pits everywhere I've been, lots of tiny shorts and no good ones. And they raised the limit from 16 up to 17.5", so it just got harder. But I refuse to quit trying. Our Gulp get chewed up by tail biters a lot, the croakers and spots and little flounder are tough on them. I try other soft plastics and even with Procure they don't seem to work as well.

Are you finding there's a lot of smaller fish this year compared to last year?

great footage at the end with you fishing that steep sandbar. Finding these sure-thing fluke spots is part of the fun. One of my favorite steep soft edges in NY got messed up by last week's storm so have to wait a bit before the steepness reforms. Went to beach for a bit on Wednesday and it looks like we are already in summer mode of too many people fishing and too many shorts. My son and I counted we had 22 shorts and only 1 NYS keeper whereas a couple weeks ago, easier limits and 50% keepers. Still a lot of fun to be out front in the surf and sand. Any tips on how to fish the single jig? What's the key to the technique?

For anybody watching this, please don't walk past the no trespassing sign. The USCG will close off most of the area if people are going where they shouldn't, they have done it in years past.

Hey Marc, quick question on your technique for fishing the light jig in surf out front. I find that sometimes I don’t always feel my connection to jig on bottom. I kind of just feel as though I’m close to bottom and pop it up again. I’m noticing that your rhythm and cadence on the pop is fairly quick. Do you ever wait to feel bottom before popping again? Thx for the vids.
