I applied for an e-visa it got rejected. I also applied for my friend but this time I downloaded his application form, his visa got approved the next day itself even got a confirmation e-mail. I tried the same thing for myself, I applied and downloaded the application form. Next day got email that my visa is approved. Earlier my visa was rejected with the reason last name not matching whereas I filled everything correct. I raised my concern in their website, followed up and applied again. I suspect that if you download the application form you have a proof that you have not done any mistake and I think this saved me. Sharing my experience. But better get VOA. Lesson learnt!

These tipping recommendations are too high… way too high. They want usd because they get more money when they get US dollars. It’s that simple. As someone who has lived in the Arab World for almost 25 years… Pay them in their local currency. Do not pay in dollars. You will end up spending more money if you do.

I have a question on visas I can’t find a definitive answer to, I’m a Canadian landing in Cairo, spending 1 night there and taking a flight to Dubai for 2 days before flying back to Cairo for a 5 day stay and finally returning to Canada from Cairo. Can I get a multiple entry 60usd visa on arrival? Should I get two single entry 25$usd visas ( one each time I land in Egypt)? Or mist I get a multiple entry evisa prior to leaving Canada? Oh my, how things have changed in Egypt. I visited there in 1980, and the trains were ANCIENT back then. "Man fears Time, but Time fears the Egyptian trains" is what I said at the time. I am plotting my return, especially I want to see Alexandria this time too.

Do you know if I can purchase a ticket from Cairo to the Luxor at the airport for a domestic flight and back without booking online? Reason being is I will be in Cairo but not sure exactly when we will go to Luxor but then we leave out of Cairo again. No one can seem to answer this question in their Egypt guide videos. Alternative comfortable budget option: take Gobus Gobus EliteBusiness (1+2seats arrangement buses). Buy two seats!!! (next to each other of course). Looking now: Lux-cairo in is EGP600: so two seats EGP1200=USD24 very good deal for 10hr journey. I did this on Cairo-Hurghada:7hrs. Price can't be beaten on that level of comfort. No probs sleeping, lot of space.

I took Cairo-Aswan with my gf 8PM-8AM. I love travelling on sleeper trains- the rhythm of the railway track makes me sleep like a baby. Having the compartment for two of us, bottle of wine, watching a movie.... a romantic experience with that sweet sweet sleep I get only on a train. Plus excess expense reduced somewhat by us saving one night accomodation. The carriage was not the newest, but that was not a factor for us. I agree that flight would be cheaper, but this was great experience. Will repeat when we are in Egypt next April. And yap, bring own food and bottle of wine;)

Just looking to book this hotel in next couple of days. Have stayed at Rixos, Cleopatra x2, Sunrise and another 10 hotels in last 20 years. Rixos was definitely above the rest, Cleopatra definitely great value for what you get.
