The Grand Egyptian Museum is slowly opening, gallery by gallery, and the newest gallery lets you get close to ten statutes of the Middle Kingdom Pharaoh, Senusret I. In this video I will also talk about how to buy tickets to the GEM, how to get to the Grand Egyptian Museum, what else you can see at the GEM besides the new gallery, what the King Tut Immersive Experience is like, and also, the question I am always asked, when will the GEM fully open?
I love getting comments from my viewers! Feel free to leave a comment sharing your thoughts on the GEM, and questions you have about Egypt's newest museum.

Thank you from Egypt ❤🇪🇬
Thanks for watching 👍🏼
I have been delaying my next visit to Cairo now for some time as I want to include the GEM. It really does look like it will be worth the wait as what you shared of the approach areas just look fantastic and also the items they are showing there look impressive. However I fear many people will be doing the same and once it goes live it will be hard to get tickets, Flights into the new airport and Hotels nearby for some time.
Yes, these are really good observations. It’s going to be an intense time for tourism in Egypt once it fully opens!
While we are going in August to Cairo... I'm delaying my GEM tour for my December trip ❤ #loveEgypt
Have a great time in August, and we will hope it will be open in December (we still have no idea when it will actually be open).
@@EgyptAdventuresTravel Shukran. When we went last year, we did the NMEC and I loved it.. My daughter not so much. This year she is not interested in museums at all. Will continue following your content to see about the GEM opening. Thank you for the informative channel
There are so many things to see in Egypt that we decided to book a trip in January next year. We are booked into an hotel not far from the GEM and o we will visit and see whatever is available at the time. We are also interested in Architecture and so the building alone is well worth the visit to us. If by chance it's open then we will be super lucky. Either way we'll thoroughly enjoy our visit. Thanks for the update it's really useful having someone on the ground watching developments no matter how small. Keep up the good work. Best regards from Philip and Luc
My pleasure! I hope you all have a wonderful trip.
I took pictures of these in January but forgot to picture the captions. I tried to find interpretations online but couldn’t. Thanks for your coverage and explanation why that was so. Thanks!
My pleasure 😇!
Thanks for all what you’re doing in Egypt I’m really thankful for you and your great work
My pleasure!
I studied architectural history in 1977.
I was shocked how colossal pyramid is.
Visiting pyramid and GEM is on my bucket list.
Thanks for your information.
My pleasure 😇
Thanks for all your hard work. I enjoy watching your videos about Egypt!
My pleasure!
I think delays in GEM opening are also related to other complementary projects serving the area -the pedestrian bridge connecting GEM to the Pyramids Plateau directly is now under construction -also there are a lot of talks about connecting the two sites by Teleferic "cable car" but still no actual work has started yet on this project -metro's 4th line will have 2 stations serving the Pyramids & GEM, its 1st phase construction schedule is being squeezed to be ready near the time of GEM opening - Sphinx airport is a small airport built mainly to serve the tourist charter trips to the museum & pyramids already opened & started receiving international flights awhile ago -some works also are being done to upgrade roads around & leading to the museum area
Yes, there are lots of projects going on. However, they’ve stated “opening dates” multiple times, with nothing ever happening, so hopefully the next time there is an announced opening date, they follow through. We’re all excited to see the full museum!
Thanks for this, I know sometimes there may not be much info, but you are the man on the ground!
Thank you, I appreciate it! ❤️
I really enjoy your videos. Thank you! :)
Glad you like them!
We visited last Saturday. It was tremendous.
I’m glad you got to visit!

Thank you!
I love the Middle Kingdom.
It’s an interesting period, and I love checking out the monuments in the El Fayoum area.
Thanks and regards from Minneapolis Minnesota
Welcome!
You are a such wonderful person and your channel is super helpful
what a beautiful
😍😍😍
Good job
Thank you! Cheers!
Do you find that tv sceptical three years ago, called the Golden Parade, has renewed interest in tourism to Egypt? I notice Egypt has become quite popular recently?
Yes, people who watched that definitely wanted to visit Egypt after!
@@EgyptAdventuresTravel me too and I am Egyptian.
❤❤
❤️❤️
I was that there 2 weeks ago as well and saw that Tutankhamun movie, I paid additional fees for that movie, but honestly it was overpriced.
Yes, to me the Tut show isn’t worth it, unless you have children with you.
@@EgyptAdventuresTravel the guy at the counter was a liar, he said that it was gonna explain Tutankhamun’s life lol
🌹🌹👍👍
Thanks for watching!
I hope you had a wonderful time, but the museum is not fully open. I hope you will visit again after the full opening ❤❤
Yes, I definitely will be doing a video when the museum is fully open 👍🏼
I always enjoy ur videos thank you. You mentioned a scavenger hunt? Is that for children? Also, i may have missed it, but how much is an adult ticket? Please
Children and adults all the same.
1,000 Egyptian Pounds if purchased at the museum, no including the Tutankhamun Immersive Experience, or 1,200 including the Tut Immersive Experience.
The scavenger hunt is meant for children and families.
Thanks for watching!
Hey Gus, are the majority of the artifacts including those of Tutankhamen still on display in the Egyptian museum in Cairo? We are visiting on Tuesday and want to see those artifacts
Most of the very important Tut artifacts like the golden mask and coffin are still at the old museum. The old museum also has thousands of other artifacts that WILL NEVER MOVE to the GEM, so the old museum is worth a visit!
Thanks for the great video.
May I ask, do we go both GEM and Egyptian Museum? Or the things will be moved from Egyptian Museum to GEM? I am still planning my itinerary to Egypt. Just want to figure out how much time I need for Cairo. Thanks
For Cairo I recommend a minimum of two days (check out my short for a two day itinerary). If you’re doing two days, I recommend at this point skipping the GEM and just doing the old museum. The old museum has thousands of artifacts and will keep almost all of them. When the GEM fully opens though, for sure you have to see the GEM over the old museum. Have a great trip!
@@EgyptAdventuresTravel thanks for your advice. Does that mean both will hav different artifacts? The old ones are interesting,I will definitely visit. Just curious what's inside the new GEM if they are not moving from old to néw. 😅
Yes, they both will have different artifacts, but the focus of both will be the ancient Egyptian civilization.
No...every museum will have its own showing..
Do you know when Egypt Air will fly from LAX? Thanks, man! 🙂
I thought they already had started these flights! If not, I’m not sure when they will. Hopefully soon 🤞🏼!
Do you think it'll be fully open by December later this year?
Planning a trip around that time
I have no idea, unfortunately. I’ve given up on predicting when the museum will open, because they’ve lied so many times about the opening date.
I think it will have to do with the Gaza war trajectory..
Are there any absurd regulations regarding the use of a DSLR camera at the GEM?
I’m not sure, sorry! I haven’t seen anyone using one, but that doesn’t mean it’s not allowed. My rule of thumb is to bring it with, and if you run into issues, just put it away. Does anyone know more?
it will open in the next century.... sigh....
I’ve stopped predicting hard and fast dates for when it will open, because we’ve been let down every time 🤷🏻♂️
There is a disquieting/'bizzazz' (?) aspect to the design of GEM as the NEW showcase for Egypt's antiquities. For my taste, it is so noisy in wanting to attract attention to itself that it seems to trivialise the TRUE monumentality of any of the collection stunning objects. I have NO INTENTION of returning to Cairo to see it.
I’m excited for the full opening, but yes, not everyone likes the GEM. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Does ur trips include Egyptians or only foreigners ?
My trips are open to anyone, Egyptian or foreigners.
Is it true that the opening will be massive with presidents from around the world attending? Because if true I don't think it will happen, since the wars and conflict ls happening and will not stopping any time soon.
We’ll see-time will tell.
Just 10 statues of Senusret I.... What are they doing in this museum? Someone should kick some buts over there.... it is taking ages!
It’s something new, but yes, it is taking forever! We are all ready for it to open…they’re just not ready 😉
I just keep thinking about that poor British college boy who was shot while walking down a street in Cairo, in broad daylight, a few years back. They reported that he was shot only because he was a white foreigner. How safe is Cairo today? Especially with the war in Gaza still going on? Thanks.
I’ve never heard of this-could you share an article talking about this so I can learn more?
I’ve been going to Egypt for 12 years, and as a white foreigner, feel extremely safe. Way safer than I feel traveling anywhere else in the world, to be honest.
😢😢
Hoping it opens soon!
where is the real mummified body of seti 1 ... ?
National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat
Yep 👍🏼
@@johannesnicolaas and what about Ramses 2 ?
Also at the NMEC
Too expensive for so little to see
At a ticket price of 1,200 Egyptian Pounds, it is super expensive compared to the other museums!
@EgyptAdventuresTravel yes but 1200 egp is like 24 dollars so I don't think it is too expensive to visit such a museum
I think once the museum fully opens, yes, that price will be in-line with other museums of the same caliber. For now, it’s a bit too much for not much on display, so that’s why lots of people are skipping it until the full opening.
@@EgyptAdventuresTravel You should have included the American dollar in your statement, I was freaking out and even thought, "well it is worth it but not for me financially". Thank goodness your fans were on top of it, lol.😁😁🤣🤣
It's not expensive at all , you take a boat for one hour for 25$ in Netherlands and this is not just a boat it's the Egyptian museum
Do you know women who have been harassed in Egypt? Is Egypt safe for woman?
I highly recommend any female travelers to Egypt consider going with a travel buddy or work with a reputable local guide or company. I have helped solo female travelers plan trips before and would be happy to help! Overall, Egypt is safe, but harassment does happen, so that’s why I recommend the above 👍🏼.
This museum is such a waste of money, it looks like a shopping centre, architecturully terrible!
Most people I’ve talked to like the modern design, but several people have your same opinion. I definitely don’t think it’s a waste of money though to have a modern, large new space to hold the thousands of artifacts they will display! I’m just impatient for it to open 😅
The 10 statues of Senusret I are made of concrete and are not constructed in his original likeness. Those statues look European or Semitic. Nesi (Pharaoh) Kheper-Ka-Ra Sen-Usret (Senusret I) was very Black with full African features.
Interesting-what scholarly sources can you share so I can look more into this?
@@EgyptAdventuresTravel Google image search for Senusret I. The fake statues of Senusret I and multiple genuine statues of Senusret I are returned.
This feel like an airport not museum
That’s what some of my viewers are saying. Other people love the modern design. Looking forward to seeing the full museum, since only about 10% of it is open.
The design of the museum is ugly to me, the interior is impressive for the size of the space not for the architecture, it looks like a shopping mall and the facade reflects a lack of imagination by only placing pyramid patterns, as if that represented the whole culture. Having so many Egyptian architectural styles, they could have reinterpreted and given it an identity.
I've heard that from a few people -- there are several other aspects that I do not show in the video, but yes, you probably would prefer the old museum's design.
Thank you from Egypt 🇪🇬 ❤️
Welcome!
