Was It Worth It? 1975 Monte Carlo Parts Car
Another g3gm A Body saved from the crusher. This 1975 Monte Carlo Landau was about to go for scrap when we stumbled across it. Quite a few good parts that would have been lost to recycling but are now going to end up in the hands of some folks restoring these 3rd Gen A Body cars. Check out g3garage.com for the latest inventory.

1976 Cutlass With T Tops Junkyard Find
Переглядів 1,6 тис.Рік тому
Found this 76 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme at a local salvage yard here in the Houston area. This car was pretty rough like most but did have the first generation Hurst Hatches (t-tops) still intact. So we spent about an hour removing them and documenting where are the hardware goes. This one also had a vinyl top which rotted the roof badly but most of the sheet metal otherwise was good. Very sad...

1972 GMC Longbed-Engine Inspection-WTH Is This???
Переглядів 662 роки тому
We were working on a friends 72 GMC pickup over the weekend to get an idea of the condition of the engine. It was rebuilt right before it was literally put out to pasture for about 20 years out on a family friend's farm. Seeing that it was out in the elements for that long we were concerned that the engine might be seized. After about an hour of prying on the flexplate in both directions, we we...

This video goes into detail of the restoration of a tachometer that was damaged by a fire in the restoration shop where a fellow G3GM forum member had his 1975 Laguna S-3 at the time. He shipped it to me to see if it could be saved. Hopefully this information helps others with the restoration of their own gauges. Feel free to leave any questions or comments below. Thanks for watching.
1977 El Camino Classic - Swap Meet Find
Переглядів 5652 роки тому
Yet another malaise era Chevrolet found at the Conroe Fall Swap Meet. I didn't see anything on this vehicle indicating it was for sale, but I'm sure for the right price it could be had. It's clean and appears to be rust free. A very nice representation of a 4th generation El Camino.
1974 Malibu Station Wagon (Long Roof) Swap Meet Find
Переглядів 4612 роки тому
Ran across this 1974 Malibu station wagon at our local fall swap meet in Conroe Texas. This appears to be a base model with very few options. The owner said it does not run but it does have a clean title. Anyone looking for a long roof project may want to inquire about this car. Hate to see this go to the crusher.

QUESTION: Where do you find stock windshield wiper blade refills? Which ANCO or other blade part# should we look for? ‘75 Laguna
Most of these GM A Body vehicles utilize the same windshield with the exception of the 4 door and station wagon cars. So the wiper size should be the same for all the 2 doors (Malibu, Laguna, Monte Carlo, El Camino, Regal, Cutlass, Lemans, etc). Hope this helps.
I would take a .273 posi-reared over my open rearend.
What would you want for 76 complete car?
The 76 Monte Carlo is currently being dismantled, so its just a parts car. Thanks for your interest.
I’m happy to finally find a community grooving on these cars. Congrats on your new place. ‘75 Laguna w/‘73 Laguna nose under roof for 25 years is peach in Maryland. Keep ‘em coming!
These cars have been my passion for over 30 years. And they are finally getting some respect in the past couple of years with more sheetmetal and other parts coming available. Love to see some pics of your 75 Laguna! You can email them to sales@g3direct.com. We will incorporate a page on our website for showcasing the vehicles of others. Thanks so much for your comment!
I was not aware of the sunroof moon roof option.
The first one I ever saw was at a local machine shop when I was dropping off a pair of head to be reworked. Asked the owner's son about it and he told me it was a 74 Malibu he just picked up from at "little old lady". That was back in the early 90's. Ever since then I've been looking for these A Body vehicles with the "Skyroof" option. They are rare for sure. Thanks for your comment!
Almost worth $100,000.00 Get it to Barrett Jackson now!
I owned a maroon 74” 350 motor, bought it for $500 bucks and drove it for a few weeks and sold it to a guy I worked with for $500, couldn’t wait to unload that turd😂
Sold me the roof moulding the one goes across the roof
I have not sold the roof molding yet.
Ok how much you want for them I got 1977 full vinyl roof so a want to make it helf vinyl roof
@@manuelsegarra697 You can contact sales@g3direct.com for details on this part. Thanks.
Alright thanks
To bad the rear ends a ten bolt not a 12 boilt
If the rear bumper fillers are still good, they are also very hard to find. Talk to Nick Wellik about those!
The drain tubes you showed, go inside the quarters in front of the wheels. The front drain tubes dump out just under the bottom door hinge, you can see the hole. That lux interior option is cool. The lower and upper door panels would have been unique to the package. What a shame such a nicely optioned Monte met this demise.
Had a 75 Monte.
These are really nice looking cars. Very sad to see them in this condition.
75 frame with 77 body ?
Yeah, the 75 frame, shoulder harness for the seat belt, the VIR A/C system, grille and headlights, etc. This appears to be cobbled together with a bunch of older design parts. Did the factory do this? Or was this a VIN swap??? Supposedly the auction company did a background check on the VINs on all the vehicles they sold that day so who really knows???
I got a 77 monte carlo which i converted to power windows. The issue im running into is since i replaced the door weatherstrip my windows dont want to roll up all the way and im noticing the motor losing power. The weatherstrip is a reproduction but matches the old one. Any thoughts.
Most windows need to be adjusted after installing new weatherstrip. Take a piece of paper and slide it between the glass and weatherstrip and see if you can find some tight spots. If so, then make adjustments to the window until the paper slides evenly around the glass. If everything is adjusted properly and it's still slow going up I'd replace the window motor. In some instances the spring on the window regulator gets weak or breaks and that will cause the same symptoms. I have a video on window adjustments on my channel under the title of "Window Sweep Replacement". Hope this helps.
@g3garage ill definitely check that video out then try adjusting it. Thanks for helping me out. Much appreciated.
This video is very much excellent help thank you so much for showing me this now i can get my car to quit running hot thank you
Glad to hear!
Ha Love the Reagan and the G3GM even more and Have the Shirt available for G3GM also now LOL
Ha! I knew you'd spot that G3GM sticker!
Have this issue with my th400 in a 1970 pontiac bonneville convertible 455. Won't shift out of 1st . Gonna remove governor gear tonight already changed transmission filter and fluid. Thanks for the great info!
Am i supposed to unplug the small cap thing near the small round black seal at the bottom of the pump?
Not sure exactly what you're referring to. I did not remove anything at the bottom of my new pump and it worked perfectly.
Which side which I bought these do it matter which side which upper arm go?
Yes, they are specific to each side. Not sure why Speedway didn't mark them left and right. The ball joint stud will angle slightly towards the front of the vehicle when installed correctly. This makes the top of the spindle tilt backwards towards the firewall to give you positive caster for better straight line tracking. To be sure you can match them to your originals and it will be obvious what side they go on. Hope this helps.
@g3garage yes and no I didn't have factory a arms on my 87 I had tubular a arms for a lift on from what I can see I'm pretty sure the shorter arm on the a arms go towards the rear of the vehicle least what I was told .looking at your thumbnail of the video the open end of the tub on the arms is the shorter arm and go towards rear and the solid close side towards the front am I correct?
@@87olds_rocketboii Open end of the tube is actually the front and its longer than the tube that is closed in the back.
Idk bro judging buy measuring and off looking at them even in your thumbnail the open end is shorter and shorter air go facing the rear iv seen this on umi and speedway arms the best way to tell Is your rubber mounts that are for the a arm so it don't hit sits right over the bounce plate like it suppose to even touches the plat when the car lifted up pretty confident there on right
My dad had a 74 or 75 Grand Am GT I think. It was white with a black vinyl top and black louvers. Had like black and red stripes. If I can remember it was a 350 4bbl . It did Gr8 Burnouts!!
Sounds like he had the perfect color scheme. These cars can really bring a smile to your face. Thanks for your comment!
@@g3garage ironically My Brother owned a 68 GTO at the same time !! Wanna talk beautiful and badass... Org242 car, 400HO, RamAirII Mayfair Maize (like a pale yellow) Black vinyl top, Hideaway headlamps, Branded Hurst Dule Gate (his and hers) shifter, with 410 rear gear !! Complete numbers matching!! It was an amazing car!! I told him the day he sold it that he would regret it!! It would sell for 100K+ easy today !! Have a Gr8 day!!
@@mocarpenter8836 That is definitely a bucket list car to have!
What color are those seat covers? Med. Gray or Charcoal?
I ordered this upholstery kit from Rock Auto and the description said it was Charcoal. Hope this helps.
@@g3garage Thanks!!
Do you have compressor part number tanks
Just buy an A/C compressor that is correct for an 88-92 Camaro with a V-8.
Are you happy with your upgrade ?is it worth it
Yes, this is a great setup for price. I am, however, going to upgrade to a fan setup that has a bit more cfm than these stock fans. I'm running a 400 sbc (which typically run hot) with a mild cam here is the Houston area, and when we get close to triple digit temps and I'm running the A/C, the fans just can't quite keep up. Hope this helps.
@@g3garage yes that helps I wanted to make sure the fans actually help when it’s over 100 degrees with having the ac on with out overheating. we had a major heat wave in California.
Good info !!! 👍👍
Can I swap the tail lights and bumper from a 73 onto a 74 cutlass?? I just like the back end on a 73 better . The. They changed it on the 74
Actually, I'm not sure. I know 74 & 75 are interchangeable. But I'm sure you could do it will some welding and fabricating. I like the 73 style as well.
👍👍Thanks for the walk around !
Thanks for sharing !!! Off to make a tool lol . ✌

The R and S lines are the same clip? Is it possible to mix them up and what might happen if you did?
It's been a while since I've done this, but if I recall, all 3 lines have different size fittings. Regardless, you should mark each one before you remove them to be sure. Because if you do accidently switch the return and supply line, the vehicle will not run. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the video. I have a question, which compressor lines did you use? The Roadmaster or the Cutlass or some other one and why? Thanks again
I ended up using the hoses from the Buick Roadmaster. They fit better around the wheel well than the Cutlass hoses.
The el camino is absolutely amazing. So much so i went and bought a 1987 choo choo el camino i have afew questions how can i get in contact with you?
Welcome to the Gbody club! You can contact me at sales@g3direct.com
These servos are pretty much the same in all 80's GM cars, I have same unit in 1990 Suburban. Mine was occasionally leaking out vacuum causing speed loss, but recently the other valve malfunctioned and actually forced acceleration by letting too much vacuum. I disassembled both valves, having to replace a spring in a vacuum valve and substitute a crumbling white orifice with a gas nozzle from a stovetop, I did a writeup with some pictures on a GMsquarebody forum.
Great info! Thanks for your comment!
Love the video nice job you helped me a lot I appreciate your patience 😊
Do you know if on a Manuel regulator if the small gear that’s spinning from the hand crank can be bought an replaced
No one that I'm aware of reproduces the regulator or any parts inside the regulator for these vehicles. Your best bet is to find a good used regulator and replace your broken one. We have several in stock and our website that we sell these parts on should be functional in the next couple of weeks. You can contact us on the website g3garage.com or send an email of the details (right/left/2DR/4DR, etc) on the part(s) you need. Thanks for your comment.
@@g3garage thank you for getting back to me so quick, yeah my passenger side on my 77 el Camino got stripped and I didn’t know if you could replace the gears or what, this is my first time messing with my windows like this so I’m trying to learn as much as I can before hand and your videos helped a lot I really appreciate your work and explanations for 73-77 cars you do good work I’ll definitely check out your site

Cool. These are my favorite vehicles. Glad to see them get some love. Hope you enjoy your new surroundings. Looking forward to seeing more content. Is the Hurst Olds a 455?
Seems like we have very similar tastes in vehicles! And yes, the Hurst is a W30 with a numbers matching 455. Thanks for the comment Mike!
@@g3garage Yes we do but I lack the skills you possess. I’m partial to Pontiacs but love any of the colonnades. In the late 70s my brother had a beautiful 75 Cutlass Supreme. Black with a white landau roof and bucket seat interior. That’s what got me into them. In the mid 80s my first car was a 75 GP. Loved that car but it was a rust belt roach. A neighbor had a 75 with T tops that was really nice. He kept it in mint condition and I always wanted it. After several attempts I finally bought it over 20 years ago. Still under 50,000 miles. Building a mild 455 for it. I’m also going to put a set of rally gauges with a tach and put a sport steering wheel on it. Other than some bubbling under the vinyl roof at the base of the rear window it’s basically rust free. It was Ziebarted back in the day and garage kept. Can’t take it to a gas station without someone talking to me about it. Your Can Am is definitely cool. Hopefully it has the W72 400. Not really a Chevy fan but the Laguna and the 75 Elcy with the 454 are sweet. I didn’t know they made an SS package in 75. Good luck with your new digs. Looking forward to new content. Stay safe.
@@mikee2923 Definitely love these Colonnades! I've been a Chevy guy most of my life, but have really gotten into the Pontiacs in the last couple of years. Love to see pics or video of you GP. As far as skills go, most everything I've learned is from watching videos on this platform and being fortunate enough to hang around a few car guys that know way more than me. Ah Ziebart, if it wasn't for that treatment being done back in the day, half of these cars would have turned to rust piles long ago. Yes, the Can Am is the W72 Pontiac engine and runs great after waking it up from a 20 year nap. The El Camino carried the SS option all the way to the end of its run in 1987. Of course this was nothing more than a trim level with graphics and or badges. But it does drive the value up. Thanks and really appreciate the comments! Take care Mike
Best wishes on your new shop very happy you….i will continue to view your channel as I am working on my 76 Pontiac Grand Prix.God bless
Thanks so much Robert! I hope to have great things happen in the new shop! Let me know if I can help in any way with your 76 Grand Prix. Those are cool looking cars!
I need some help
What are you looking for?
I have a pair of derale single speed fans on the setup mode should select two or dual?
I would select 2 so you can control them individually depending on how you wire them. Holley incorporates 2 trigger wires, one for each fan. Hope this helps.
@@g3garage yes it did help thank you!
@@84SS931 Sorry for the mention of the Holley unit. I've since upgraded to a Holley sniper and now use it to control my fans. So on the Dakota, Fan Low connection would control your first fan (primary fan) and Fan High would control the second fan to come on at a higher temp or when the A/C is turned on.
Make sure you grease this often, my buddy has a set on a 67 Camaro same type bushings. They wear out quick.
Thanks for the input! I wonder if they can be replaced with polyurethane bushings?
