1976 Cutlass With T Tops Junkyard Find
Переглядів 1,4 тис.Рік тому
Found this 76 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme at a local salvage yard here in the Houston area. This car was pretty rough like most but did have the first generation Hurst Hatches (t-tops) still intact. So we spent about an hour removing them and documenting where are the hardware goes. This one also had a vinyl top which rotted the roof badly but most of the sheet metal otherwise was good. Very sad...

1972 GMC Longbed-Engine Inspection-WTH Is This???

We were working on a friends 72 GMC pickup over the weekend to get an idea of the condition of the engine. It was rebuilt right before it was literally put out to pasture for about 20 years out on a family friend's farm. Seeing that it was out in the elements for that long we were concerned that the engine might be seized. After about an hour of prying on the flexplate in both directions, we we...

1977 El Camino Classic - Swap Meet Find
Переглядів 508Рік тому
Yet another malaise era Chevrolet found at the Conroe Fall Swap Meet. I didn't see anything on this vehicle indicating it was for sale, but I'm sure for the right price it could be had. It's clean and appears to be rust free. A very nice representation of a 4th generation El Camino.
1974 Malibu Station Wagon (Long Roof) Swap Meet Find
Переглядів 403Рік тому
Ran across this 1974 Malibu station wagon at our local fall swap meet in Conroe Texas. This appears to be a base model with very few options. The owner said it does not run but it does have a clean title. Anyone looking for a long roof project may want to inquire about this car. Hate to see this go to the crusher.

      No one that I'm aware of reproduces the regulator or any parts inside the regulator for these vehicles. Your best bet is to find a good used regulator and replace your broken one. We have several in stock and our website that we sell these parts on should be functional in the next couple of weeks. You can contact us on the website g3garage.com or send an email of the details (right/left/2DR/4DR, etc) on the part(s) you need. Thanks for your comment.

      @@g3garage Yes we do but I lack the skills you possess. I’m partial to Pontiacs but love any of the colonnades. In the late 70s my brother had a beautiful 75 Cutlass Supreme. Black with a white landau roof and bucket seat interior. That’s what got me into them. In the mid 80s my first car was a 75 GP. Loved that car but it was a rust belt roach. A neighbor had a 75 with T tops that was really nice. He kept it in mint condition and I always wanted it. After several attempts I finally bought it over 20 years ago. Still under 50,000 miles. Building a mild 455 for it. I’m also going to put a set of rally gauges with a tach and put a sport steering wheel on it. Other than some bubbling under the vinyl roof at the base of the rear window it’s basically rust free. It was Ziebarted back in the day and garage kept. Can’t take it to a gas station without someone talking to me about it. Your Can Am is definitely cool. Hopefully it has the W72 400. Not really a Chevy fan but the Laguna and the 75 Elcy with the 454 are sweet. I didn’t know they made an SS package in 75. Good luck with your new digs. Looking forward to new content. Stay safe.

      @g3garage Місяць тому

      @@mikee2923 Definitely love these Colonnades! I've been a Chevy guy most of my life, but have really gotten into the Pontiacs in the last couple of years. Love to see pics or video of you GP. As far as skills go, most everything I've learned is from watching videos on this platform and being fortunate enough to hang around a few car guys that know way more than me. Ah Ziebart, if it wasn't for that treatment being done back in the day, half of these cars would have turned to rust piles long ago. Yes, the Can Am is the W72 Pontiac engine and runs great after waking it up from a 20 year nap. The El Camino carried the SS option all the way to the end of its run in 1987. Of course this was nothing more than a trim level with graphics and or badges. But it does drive the value up. Thanks and really appreciate the comments! Take care Mike

I will have an update video coming out in the next week or so going over all the projects that we will be working on this year. As far as interior parts, the only things that are readily available for the Grand Ams are headliners, lower door panels, carpet sets and just recently, one of the guys on the facebook group for 73-75 Grand Ams is offering restored dash pads. I would recommend joining that group as well as joining tthe forum G3GM.com. They focus on all GM A Body vehicles from 1973-1977. Hope this helps and stay tuned!

    I’m going to install tubular control arms on my ‘55 Chevy Nomad. My Dad kept a sign on his desk that said, “the bitterness of poor quality remains longer than the sweetness of low price”. I just got done moving my shop out to the property we purchased over the summer. I actually had them out of the box just a couple days ago which reminded me I need to get this install done. Hoping to have a video on this in the next month or so. Thanks for your comment.

      Its not marked anywhere on the parts or the boxes they came in. But they did tell me when I spoke with them that they are manufactured in their own facility in Lincoln Nebraska. And the repairs were done there as well. Thanks for your comment!

      They are still in the box waiting to be installed. Had to move my shop recently and just got my new shop setup. So if all goes well, these will be installed in the next month or so. I'll post the install video when I get a chance to thoroughly road test and give any honest review of these control arms. Thanks for your comment!

    How do those sunroof seals from Montemania compare to the originals? Thanks

      The seals are similar but not exact. They appear to be a little thinner than the originals. Thanks for your comment!

    Hi there , just a question are you sure that the other pump is stander as some video show it's a reverse rotation.

    • @g3garage
      @g3garage 6 місяців тому

      If you look at the impeller on each pump it's very easy to see that they rotate opposite of the other. Another way to tell is if the water pump pulley has a smooth surface where the belt rides, its reverse rotation. If the pulley has ribs or a v groove, its standard rotation. Thanks for your comment.

      Yea there's another video that shows the waterpump on the left side of your video to be a reverse style impeller for a serpentine system

    Car door lock solenoid. I used your video which got me interested in doing an install of the product when ready. As reference for my existing door lock situation which is not working at the moment. I took the solenoid and did a continuity test. The orange cable barb s power and the chasis is ground. Is the rest of the barbs ground because; i cannot get continuity on the other barbs with the power barb🤦🏽. Does anyone know how to trouble shoot a bad lock solenoid? I really want to get the door panels on and cruise this SS Monte Carlo

    • @g3garage
      @g3garage 7 місяців тому

      I mention "solenoid" in the video incorrectly. The correct term is "relay" and that's where I would start looking for your problem. It could be you're not getting 12 volts at the relay with the orange with black stripe wire. If you have power there I would put your hand on that relay and hit the door lock button. You should feel it click if the relay is working properly. If it is working, then you could have a break in the wires going to the actuator in the door. There is a rubber boot that the wires go through by the door hinge and these wires have a tendency to break over the years. Lastly, it could be the actuator itself that's gone bad. To test, you'll need to remove it from the door and hook a power wire and ground to the plug socket and try to get it to work. If it doesn't do anything, then its dead. Hope this helps.
