I'll add that this one needs warm nights. If your house gets cold nights in the winter like most of us in the US do, it will stop growing and it becomes harder not to overwater it. If your nights are warm enough for say Alocasia to grow vigorously', or if you keep it warm 24/7 then this will thrive. Showers do help!

You put it in the shower and water it with fertilizer? How is it not overwatered? Can you give more details about putting it in the shower? How long? Is this like a light shower or full blast?

This is a great idea. I might also look for more larger cork pieces online. Ya know…The funny thing about moss poles is the ppl who love them are obsessed with them, or else they only have one, and everyone else is just over them. 😆 I’ve had one successful one, which was stolen. Bitches… 😡 It was a monstera adansonii in LECA. About five feet. Homemade moss pole. Repurposed curtain rod! Hot glued dry moss to it and wrapped it in burlap! Then tied with jute or string every couple of inches…Amazing! And guess what…I really didn’t keep the moss moist, like so many UA-camrs stress about! Lol! I mean yes, I sprayed it maybe every other day, but not daily. Anyway it was in LECA! The nutrients in the reservoir promoted positive root growth into the moss pole without me even keeping it moist. Like, EVERY root node had a huge, perfect leaf! There was no empty space on that vine…ahh I miss it. But yeah this cork seems legit. Planks are good too. They’re all so much easier than moss poles, less mess, better root structure, and better growth I’ve noticed. Tbh the best pothos ever grown in my life was in my aquarium, 25 ft long, and attached all around my bedroom wall and ceiling. And it’s not like I was misting the building. So F anyone that says it MUSH be moist! Roots like textured surfaces, patterns, and nooks and crevices for sure. Moss poles are a bit too “soft”

I cannot figure out this plant. When I first got it, it was fine. Then it got a fungus on one of its leaves and I had to cut it. Then another leaf got fungus. Then it got root rot. Repotted it in better draining soil. Was fine for three weeks and it got root rot again, so badly that it lost almost all of its roots. I had to cut off most of its previously well developed root system. Trying one last thing and that’s keeping the root system in water and hoping it’ll grow some healthy roots in a couple of weeks. I got a smaller lindenii which came in a sad state, repotted it in better soil, and then one of the stalks just… basically unalived itself. This has been a struggle plant for me so much and it’s so sad because I LOVE the foliage on this plant so much.

Curious to know what kind of water and soil you’re using. That could be the issue. But, I had a plant that got a fungus on the leaves the philodendron birkin which turns it brown. I cut those off which were falling off everyday. 😢 I removed the original store soil, cut off any rotten/ and or too long roots then rinsed the entire plant off and soaked the roots in a strong solution of hydrogen peroxide and water for about 10 minutes boy was it bubbling. Then rinsed again and repotted in new soil gave it a good feed and good water and been great ever since. Hope this helps.

@@carmelwine7610 tried all kinds of soil 😥 Coco bark, orchid bark, a mix of soil, leca, perlite and Coco bark... Just kept on rootrotting 🥲

These things ARE SO NEEDY. Too much light? Leaves dry up and die. Too little light? Leaves dry up and die. Too much water? Leaves dry up and die. Not enough water? Leaves dry up and die. Too large or small of a pot? Leaves dry up and die. Wrong temp? Leaves dry up and die. Wrong type of soil? Leaves dry up, and you guessed it! Die. I am on my third, and I may have just found the sweet spot. With two leaves left. I’ve never actually seen one of these plants with new growth. like I’ve never seen a grown any single millimeter or leaf…
