I've been thinking of covering an entire wall in my house with corkboard panels so my climbing plants can go all out. I think I might have to up the number of humidifiers in that room to 2 to make sure humidity is good. And just so it's out there for those of us who prefer not to wait on shipping, Michael's craft store has corkboard in square panels and rolls. Reasonably priced as well

How to prevent mold between the cork panels and the wall? I could see that being a problem maybe

@@M_SC good point. I used to do tile installation and kitchen and bathroom remodeling. There are a few ways to protect the wall, like waterproofing membrane or drylock paint. But mold would still grow on that, it'd just keep it on the surface. I have a couple sheets of 1/4 inch Luan that I'm thinking of backing the corkboard with and leaving an inch or so of air space between the wall and the panel. Keep and nastiness on the cork/Luan and off the wall completely. Much easier to discard if it's a total fail too lol but definitely a topic to think on and get around

What an amazing idea! Thank you for this brilliant DIY. I also don't have space for large planks in my apartment. I will definitely keep following for updates if the aerial roots take hold. Also, thank you for slowing down when you speak. It makes it better to follow for your International subscribers like myself. 🥰

I feel that, planks definitely take up a lot more space! And haha I'm trying - still have to do better with that though 😂 I always speed up when I get excited - which happens a lot when I'm talking about plants!

That’s a great idea. I had heard Caitlyn mention the cork board, but I must’ve missed the video where she showed it. I’m definitely going to try this. 😊

I think it will work I put cork over my wood plank for my plant and it’s working I’ve actually done it to two of them and so far it’s great and it’s been about three months. I have the moss poles because of the messiness of them and I’m bad to forget to wet them soon enough. Good luck

That's so exciting! Moss poles always end up being more work than they're worth 😭

This is a great idea. I might also look for more larger cork pieces online.
Ya know…The funny thing about moss poles is the ppl who love them are obsessed with them, or else they only have one, and everyone else is just over them. 😆 I’ve had one successful one, which was stolen. Bitches… 😡 It was a monstera adansonii in LECA. About five feet. Homemade moss pole. Repurposed curtain rod! Hot glued dry moss to it and wrapped it in burlap! Then tied with jute or string every couple of inches…Amazing! And guess what…I really didn’t keep the moss moist, like so many UA-camrs stress about! Lol! I mean yes, I sprayed it maybe every other day, but not daily. Anyway it was in LECA! The nutrients in the reservoir promoted positive root growth into the moss pole without me even keeping it moist. Like, EVERY root node had a huge, perfect leaf! There was no empty space on that vine…ahh I miss it.
But yeah this cork seems legit. Planks are good too. They’re all so much easier than moss poles, less mess, better root structure, and better growth I’ve noticed. Tbh the best pothos ever grown in my life was in my aquarium, 25 ft long, and attached all around my bedroom wall and ceiling. And it’s not like I was misting the building. So F anyone that says it MUSH be moist! Roots like textured surfaces, patterns, and nooks and crevices for sure. Moss poles are a bit too “soft”
