No Sleepless Nights
United States
Приєднався 28 жов 2013
Hi! I'm Ethan. I review and compare sleep tech and bedroom products in depth to help people make informed choices.
I believe in covering every possible detail when I do reviews, and I don't avoid the potential downsides as I know how important is to people to get the whole picture.
On this channel, I like to focus on practical solutions to common sleep disruptors, such as:
- Sleep headphones for a comfortable audio experience.
- White noise machines to play ambient sounds or mask external noise.
- Earplugs to create silence.
- Sleep masks to block light.
- Weighted blankets for a snug feel.
- Bed cooling for hot weather.
- Mattresses for, well, not sleeping on the floor.
Consider subscribing if that sounds interesting. If I haven't already, maybe I'll cover something in the future that has the potential to make a big difference to your sleep.
Sleep well!

Loop Earplugs Review: Are They Better Than Foam?
In this review, I compare the Loop Dream, Quiet 2, and Experience 2 Plus earplugs. I bought all three, and have spent several weeks using them at home and while out and about. I also did some specific noise tests to see how well they reduce noise compared to foam, wax, and silicone earplugs.

Roffie White Noise Machine Review (Now Discontinued)
Is this from the 80s or something?
I'm not entirely sure when it was first invented, but it would not surprise me if it's been around for a long time...
This is so helpful as I was literally just looking for some ear plugs that would help block out the sound of barking dogs. I normally use foam ear plugs which do a good job but they always fall out during the night. So I was thinking of getting a pair of the loop dreams despite the crazy price. However, now after watching your test on dogs barking and seeing how foam is more effective, I think I will stick with these and perhaps try to put some medical tape over them or something to try and keep them in overnight....crazy i know but I am desperate haha.
I'm happy to hear the video was helpful. I was wondering if other people with dog barking problems would find it! Before taping the earplugs, I would start by checking you're inserting them correctly, and maybe thinking about whether you've got the right size and shape for your ears? Those would be the common reasons that they fall out.
How can I order this to India
You'd need to check local stores or websites that deliver to your location.
Can you fall asleep listening to music and when it destcts you are asleep, will it automatically go to your chosen sleep mode noise?
Yes, the smart switch mode will do exactly that.
Ahh that's perfect. Thank you for your reply
No problem!
Can you test the ozlo sleep uda and compare them to the soundcore a20?
Yes - I plan on doing that video next.
@nosleeplessnights1 awesome, I really look forward to it! I appreciate all the work you've put into researching sleep aid products! I just began exploring the sleep buds realm and your channel and blog has been a huge time saver and a wealth of knowledge. You've definitely earned your subscription!
Thanks for your feedback - it's always good to know the channel is useful. I will do my best to keep it that way. As for the review, I doubt I will publish it soon, but hopefully within the next few weeks at some point. I don't have a regular publishing schedule like many channels do - it's too stressful and I'd lose sleep over it, which would be ironic...
It was a good explanation of everything I've tried before, but yes, I'm going to say it, I am 76 to old and you are just a tad too rapid talking and rapid paced for me. I know a younger person would probably be fine. Just consider this please. I have to put mine on the floor and either of the last two are OK with me. I'm getting ready to try the 4th method.
Sorry about that! Not all younger people - my partner sometimes tells me she thinks I get carried away and talk too fast in the videos too! How did the roll method go?
I don't have enough room to do the burrito. Ad I only get it right about everyother time. I have a larger comforter than my bed right now. My duvet has ties inside that is did including one at the zipper in the middle. It was just shake on each side and it worked perfectly. BTW, humor is the ost important part of any bed changing. @@nosleeplessnights1 I
Ah, yes it is quite difficult if the duvet/comforter goes over the side of the bed by a lot. Having ties inside is very helpful, for sure. I agree it is important - same for all boring household tasks!
Hi mr ! How are you? The foam earplugs keep falling out , so i got these earplugs from Boots and they are very good but im still affected by this low frequency noise from a nearby Heineken factory , i recently broke down in front of my GP because iv become suicidal and losing too much sleep ! Now im considering trying the loop earplugs but still not sure ! I did like my bose earplugs but they are second hand and faulty but not good for side sleepers ! 😢😊i also need someone to come out and measure this low frequency but it costs so much 😢
Hi! It's good to hear from you again. It's been a while, but I do remember you from our previous conversation. I'm sorry to hear you're having such a difficult time. I hope your GP is providing the support and care you need and that you have someone you can talk to. Which are the foam ones that keep falling out, and which Boots ones did you get? It's hard to give any thoughts on how the Loop might compare, but if you tell me which they were, I might be able to take a guess. Does the noise come through the windows most of all you think?
@nosleeplessnights1 Honeywell Howard lights do fall out umungst the other foam ones ! Boots Sleep deep alpine ear plugs also fall out and definitely better than foam ones! The washable ones look good ! My GP has referred me to a psychiatrist and it will be good to find out if I'm Autistic , Bi-polar or ADHD etc ! This low frequency noise from a nearby factory has been driving me nuts 😢I'm also considering paying for a low frequency noise expert to visit my home and do the tests !
Hey, thanks for sharing the earplug details - that gives me more to go on. I was thinking about your previous comment. I'm really sorry to hear how much you're struggling with that noise. I just wanted to share some resources in case they’re helpful while you wait for your referral: UK Samaritans: 116 123 (free call) Crisis Text Line: Text SHOUT to 85258 You can also call 111 or 999 if you're in crisis. There is also this website which has another helpline and lots of useful information: sossilenceofsuicide.org/ Since this is a UA-cam channel and I don't have a background in a medial field, I really need to stick to trying to help in the way I might be able to though, which is with some thoughts on the earplugs and noise problem. Do the foam earplugs fall out because they are too big, or perhaps because of how you insert them? I've met many people who say they fall out, but when I ask them to show me how they insert them, they aren't doing it in the best way. It's important to roll them, pull the ear back with the other hand, and then hold them in place with a finger for 10-30 seconds while they expand. If you think it's the size, then I can maybe recommend smaller ones if you can tell me the exact Honeywell ones you bought. Those Boots ones are ok, but the noise reduction rating (or SNR since it's European) can definitely be improved with other earplugs, especially foam. I'm personally not a fan of that particular Alpine style, but I know others do like them. As for the noise, have you checked what they can actually do if they come out, or what you can do with their report? Acoustic consultants can be expensive, and if you don't end up with advice that you can action, it could be a lot of money spent for information you already know from experience. Instead of trying to block it, have you tried trying to mask it? Perhaps with a more relaxing sound of your choosing, such as a river, rain, or waterfall track. If you have to listen to a constant sound, then better one you like.
Bonjour. Merci infiniment pour ce test. Je vous suis vraiment reconnaissant. L'empathie est réconfortante. J'aimerais bien combiner avec un casque antibruit mais, comme je l'avais mentionné, je dors sur le côté
You're very welcome! That is the problem, unfortunately. I think the combination is good for short periods of time, but can't be relied on for a whole night.
Foam earplugs creates vacuum problem for me and irritating, could you please suggest better option to block neighbour or upper floors dham-dham ... Sound 😮. And talking please, reply asap
If foam is uncomfortable, then you could try the Loop earplugs, but also wax and silicone putty earplugs. The sound of banging on floors above is difficult to fully block. You need earplugs with a high noise reduction rating, or headphones with some audio to mask the sound.
How can one know if they have small or big ear canals?
You can get a doctor or audiologist to tell you if you want to do it properly. In my experience from giving many people earplugs and headphones to try over the years, you can usually guess based on the general body, head, and ear size as a starting point. But, there are exceptions and I know a couple of 'larger' guys with very small ear canals, so it's not guaranteed to work that way.
As a side sleeper who wakes up to even low sounds, do I go for quiet 2 or dream?
I think you should go with foam earplugs if you are that sensitive to sound
If you only plan on using them for sleep, and comfort were the only deciding factor, definitely the Dream if you're a side sleeper. The thing is, what you call low sounds might be different from what I, or anyone else, does. It may be that they are both able to block out whatever the sound is that usually bothers you; it may be that neither does, in which case foam might be better. If it's a different noise source from the ones I discussed in the video, feel free to tell me and if it's possible, I'll try to test them for you. If you have a decibel meter, that would help, but don't waste money on one just for that as there are multiple factors to take into account anyway.
Awesome review, impressed with how detailed you are but at the same time it still feels concise and to the point. The visual aid of the tables with the scores is also helpful in making the information easy to digest. Again I appreciate it that you inserted that bit for my concern and even added possible workarounds. Thanks man. Hope your neighbors werent home that time 😅
Hey! Thanks for your kind feedback, and I'm glad you liked the review. You're very welcome. I enjoyed having a side quest to go on during my usual review process, and I imagine it's a noise that other people struggle with too. I think they were home, but we still appear to be on speaking terms. The irony of potentially annoying my neighbours by testing ways to block out the noise from other people wasn't lost on me though...
I can tolerate laying on my original Apple wired headphones on my side. Do you think the Airpods would be much the same?
I think they are probably bulkier, so I wouldn't want to say yes for sure.
Hi there, I'm interested in some noise cancelling headphones that completely cancel out noise from other people talking at a normal level as well as snoring in other bedrooms with unfortunately thin walls and thin doors. I saw in the video that you recommended the Bose headphones, and since researching, it looks like the Bose QuietComfort Ultra are a more modern version of the product you described in the video? I primarily sleep on my back and I've tried small earbuds before and I could not get used to them sadly. I do not really need to listen to any white noise or music when trying to sleep, I just unfortunately get woken up easily by voices and snoring from other people in the house so guaranteeing good noise cancellation for all of my sleep would be the highest priority for me. Is it possible to have these headphones turned on with noise cancellation active even with nothing playing on the speakers? I work night shifts you see, so my sleep health has not been the greatest and my mental health is taking a toll with my sleep deprivation! If you are able to give me any advice, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you very much for the video!
Hi! Yes, Bose released those after the video was published. I haven't tested them yet, but they have been on my to-do list for a while. You'd have to check other people's comparisons to find out more I think, but from what I've watched and read myself, they do seem very good too. To answer your question, yes you can just have the noise cancellation without music. Have you tried sleeping with on-ear headphones before? If you're able to comfortably, then great. But if you roll over in the night, it will be a problem. In my latest video, there's a point when I tried to block out dogs barking and found I could do so by combining the noise cancelling Bose headphones and earplugs at the same time. It's a bit of an extreme thing to do, and I'm not 100% sure what audiologists or doctors would have to say about doing that. But in desperate times, it works very well.
@@nosleeplessnights1 Thank you very much for your reply. I've never tried on ear headphones before, and I must say I don't particularly move and roll over in the night at all whilst I'm sleeping. I will see and look around to try those out if they can work. At the moment, the Bose headphones are tempting as Black Friday encroaches us and I've seen some decent deals on the product already. Even beyond for sleeping use, I think they'd also be a fantastic pair of headphones to use as well. The noise cancelling demonstration reviews I've seen are promising as the headphones managed to quell the bustle of a city field and café, so hopefully quiet indoor voice conversations as well as snoring from next door should be covered under Bose' noise cancelling technologies. Just need to find something that works well really, as I am keen to get ahead on sleep health as I'm still a young person, and wouldn't want this to lead to many years of neglect of sleep health! Thank you again!
It's great that you understand the importance of sleeping well! If you do decide to get them, I hope they work out for you. You can always send them back if they don't. I think one of the main problems with wearing over or on-ear headphones all night is that we do tend to move around in our sleep. So even if you feel you fall asleep on your back, you're likely to change positions during the night. If you experiment with them, you will probably find out soon enough whether they are going to work out though.
hello - thanks a lot for this very clear and complete review...too bad...for me (but not for you) that your partner in bed has only a light snoring...As I have almost the same concern, but with a big snoring when I sleep beside my partner.... Therefore I always use foam earplugs (3M) when sleeping alongside my partner in bed...And sometimes I go to the garage for sleeping alone there, even though it's less comfortable and colder...I am definitely waiting for the disruption in this earplugs design, maybe it will come one day ? Thanks again and have a good day, cheerz
You're welcome! Thank you too for your feedback. How do you find the 3M earplugs? I was always surprised that they didn't have a higher lab tested noise reduction rating as they worked really well for me and anyone else I gave them to. But, we also thought they are quite dense, so a bit uncomfortable to use night after night. Sleeping separately is something I've done in the past too, and we still do during times of illness rather than disturbing the other person. I think it's healthy to have the option to preserve your sleep when necessary as long as it doesn't create emotional distance. But that is another discussion altogether. As for the disruption to the design you mention, I think someone will have to come up with a really innovative design. There is only so much our sensitive ears can handle, and sound travels through physical objects as well as the air, making it a tricky beast to master!
@@nosleeplessnights1 Thanks for your quick reply. I completely adhere to what you wrote hereabove : the 3M are the best reduction noise earplugs that I know, but they are so dense that it hurts at first (during first night mainly) and they tend to loose their elasticity quite fast, which reduces their performance over time...I personally feel that the 3M are working fine for me between the second night and the 8th night : during only 1 week approximately. Maybe the solution will be in first instance to sleep in a sort of stand-alone acoustic isolated cabin,...I am sure at one point there will be a solution, when I don't need it anymore because too old :))) Cheerz from Paris
One week is probably the longest I would consider wearing a foam earplug for anyway, and only if I didn't have more to replace it with and really needed it, so that doesn't seem so bad. That cabin sounds good...if you ever find one that doesn't cost a small fortune, let me know! Cheers to you too, from across the channel.
great video! thank you
You're very welcome - I'm glad you liked it, and thanks for the feedback.
Great review once again. Cheers!
You're welcome! Thanks for your feedback too:-)
I have the Mack’s foam ear plugs and no matter how hard I try they never stay in my ears! Even keeping the plug pressed into my ear until it’s expanded. Any tips? Thank you
Hi. I can think of two possible reasons. This sometimes happens if you don't roll them tightly enough and use your other hand to open up your ear when inserting them. The more simple reason is that they just aren't the right earplugs for your ear shape.
@ thank you. Do you recommend any other brands? I think the Mack’s are too fat as my ear canals are quite narrow. Thank you.
@@madmantronixx7998 No problem. They are already one of the smaller foam earplugs I've tried, so there aren't many I can think of. Have you seen the Mack's Dream Girl? Those are smaller. There also used to be a very small foam earplug called Howard Leight Small, but I haven't seen them for ages. It may be worth checking online though. Wax and silicone could work too as they cover the ear canal rather than going inside. My partner can't wear foam earplugs either for the same reason, but she was able to keep the Loop earplugs in her ears without them falling out when I put the smallest tip sizes on for her. She still didn't like wearing them all night because she's not used to using earplugs, but that's a different story!
wow good job and informative, straight to point, easy to listen to, not annoying hyped/voices. this is why I love the British.
That's very kind of you to say - thank you! I'm glad you liked the video, and the British style.
Musicians get custom moulded earplugs made for the shape of their inner ears I have noticed. are they good for sleeping and can they offer -33db or better? Or do they give less noise reduction and are uncomfortable to sleep with? There are also the right angles earplugs with a ring out the outer part I suppose is useful for sleeping comfort and also something to grip to extract them. Have you tried these? I think they are silicon and perhaps offer only 24 db of noise reduction
I'm not sure because I haven't tried specific ones made for musicians. I would imagine custom moulded sleep earplugs would be more likely to be comfortable to use in bed. Perhaps a musician who finds your comment will be able to reply. As for the ones with the ring, I am currently editing a review of the Loop earplugs I hope to have out this week. Those might be what you're talking about. The ones I've tried are very comfortable, but not all equally for sleep. The Loop Dream were the most comfortable of the three I tried, but the noise reduction is less than the foam earplugs I discuss in this video. Keep an eye out for the Loop video and you'll see what I mean.
@@nosleeplessnights1 Sorry I mean the custom made ear plugs created from a mould of your ear for anyone, not just musicians. Musicians use a version but with in ear monitoring not just for blocking out sound.
I only ever tried a couple of custom moulded ones that I got on Amazon years ago. I wasn't impressed by either, so haven't tried again recently. I'd like to get them made one day to see if they are any good, but now now I can't give you any advice about them I'm afraid.
UPDATE: The QuietOn company filed for bankruptcy earlier in 2024, and their website went offline for a while. However, the former CEO along with the founder then set up a new company called Soundless and resurrected the QuietOn earbuds. The website is back online, but you can't buy the earbuds directly from them any more. Instead, there is a list of distribution partners on their home page who sell them. This information came directly to me in an email conversation I had with the staff member in charge of communications when I wrote to them after spotting they were back in business.
This review is for a previous model of the QuietOn, which are no longer available. Take a look at my review of the QuietOn 3.1 to see the latest one: ua-cam.com/video/bJK7Kj6_VP0/v-deo.html Also, you may have heard that the original QuietOn company filed for bankruptcy not long ago. This is true, but the former CEO and the founder went on to set up a new company, Soundless, and resurrected the QuietOn. They only sell them through distribution partners now, so you can't buy them on the QuietOn website like you used to be able to. Thank you. I ordered the product first through the introduction of an acquaintance, and I am waiting for delivery. I'm very excited about your review. I've had a habit of sleeping with Max earplugs for more than a decade, and without earplugs, I feel anxious. I want to try a20 and share reviews with people who feel a lot. Thank you.
You're welcome. I hope they work well for you - let me know once you've had time to try them.
Thinking of getting JBL Tune Buds or Baseus Bowie MA10.
Let me know if either of them are any good for sleep!
@nosleeplessnights1 I am the one who snores like a 747. Will ask my wife her opinion.
I bought them and I can say your review is by far the most accurate and informative about these. Very well done.
Thanks! I really appreciate the feedback, especially if you've had a chance to check what I said yourself. Do you like using them? I'd love to hear your thoughts, be it the positives or negatives.
I just want a machine to have the least amount of sound at night to replace the dead silence. So far only distant cricket sounds helped me sleep well otherwise most of the time I feel like I'm going deaf
Mee too. I have my fridge in my room and when it starts cleaning itself and humming I feel calm but it stops I feel crappy again. Has to be the right sounds. Music doesn't always cut it neither does nature only This is a really useful video for helping to make a decision!
Most white noise machines sound okay on lower volumes. The ones with a real fan inside are often good choices if you only want a little sound.
👍🏾
Which earphone is from nothing there naming is confusing
I'm not sure I understand your question?
@nosleeplessnights1 can you provide product link of nothing earphone mentioned in your comparison
Which one? There isn't one called 'nothing'.
@@nosleeplessnights1 5:18
'Nothing in ear' doesn't refer to headphones or earplugs. I mean when you are not using headphones or earplugs, and therefore there is nothing at all in your ear. It gets 10/10 because it is just your body. Sorry for the confusion.
Hi Ethan, is there a differnet unit that can be set to turn on at a specific time...such as On at 4:30am?
Hi! That's a very uncommon feature with white noise machines, unfortunately. None of the lower cost ones I've tried have a timer function. The SNOOZ devices, such as the SNOOZ, the SNOOZ PRO and the Breez all have that feature, but they focus on fan sounds rather than variety. There may be others I haven't tried myself, but I can't think of any right now. Other options to consider would be a wake-up light with white noise sounds included, a smart speaker, or maybe a phone app.
Can you use the mic of the phone while on call? Because I am aware that it doesn't have a mic. But can you use the mic of the phone as an alternative.😊
If you meant 'can you speak through the phone and listen to the other person through the A20s, I wasn't actually sure, so I just made a call to try. I put them in Bluetooth mode, with music playing. As soon as I pressed 'call' on my phone, the music stopped and the phone just worked as normal, with no audio coming through the headphones. So the answer is no. By the way, my parents said to say thank you to the person who asked because they were the ones that got a random phone call and a chat!🙂
@nosleeplessnights1 yes!! Please update me if it's possible thank you😁
It's not possible
@@nosleeplessnights1 oh men, that sucks but thank you!
No problem. I imagine they left out the voice call feature to further reduce the size of the earbuds, since comfort during sleep was the main priority, not everyday use.
Y a t-il un bandeau avec une suppression active du bruit efficace ? ?
No, unfortunately there isn't one.
@nosleeplessnights1 Merci pour ton retour. Je cherche désespérément un casque antibruit (même passif) qui convient pour dormir avec (sur le côté. Je suis dormeur latéral). Aidez moi s'il vous plait ! !
No problem. Do you only want silence, or are you okay with some kind of noise to mask whatever sound is bothering you?
@nosleeplessnights1 Merci énormément. J'habite très près d'un chantier et des voisins "inciviles" (pour rester courtois), ils ont des chiens... Ce sont donc des aboiements et des coups de marteaux, etc. Je souffre
Are you happy to listen to music or white noise? Or do you want noise cancellation or masking only?
I'm a student, so my budget is low. But I don't like earplug because it's quite dirty after many times used. Should I choose SOUNDCORE A30I or Galaxy Buds2 Pro (2nd hand)?
I understand the budget constraint - I was a student once, a long time ago. I haven't tried either of those headphones, so I can't give you any advice about them - sorry!
@@nosleeplessnights1 Thank you, I think those earplugs not too bad 😅
Thank you very much for this detailed presentation! It was great!
You're welcome - I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for the kind feedback too.
I need this for a cruise
Excellent video!
Thanks - glad you liked it:-)
i had to change my intial comments on these. please reread this. i think the comfort is hard to beat. I'm having trouble finding regular buds for when it's not safe to use blocking buds. Battery life is good.
I saw your edits. I'm glad they didn't turn out to be a disappointment after all. Sometimes it just takes some time to get used to a change in headphones and see how they work night after night.
how loud do these go compared to an airpod pro. I'm looking for a very small earbud to play music in my helmet and the airpods are too bulky to get my tight fitting helmet on.
Definitely not as loud, though they can still be quite loud with the volume turned right up. As I said in the video, I typically found the white noise or music tracks too loud to listen to in bed with the volume maxed out. Do you mean motorbike helmet? If so, the lack of ANC might be a bigger issue I imagine. If it's a bike or some other helmet, then I guess it may be less important. As for the size, that shouldn't be a problem as they fit snugly in the ear.
I bought 2 of this, and the rain sounded more like static. I don’t use the sound , just the light.
Thank you for this video!
You're welcome!
I’m interested to know whether under pillow speakers are any good too. I don’t need to block out noise but want to distract my ADHD brain enough to fall asleep by listening to audiobooks without disturbing my partner.
Have you seen any of my pillow speaker reviews I did in the past? Basically, the audio quality is nowhere near as good as headphones or any half decent speaker, but they will let you listen to some audio quietly. Whether it disturbs your partner or not depends on whether you put it next to your ear or under the pillow, and how loudly you play it. But it is possible to have that private audio experience with some experimentation. As I said though, just be prepared for a big drop down in audio quality.
Hi, does the fan come apart for cleaning purposes, or is it not able to be disassembled? Thanks
I haven't tried it, though I can see it has 4 screws on the back, presumably to open it up. The SNOOZ website has this instruction for cleaning it, which doesn't include opening it. They leave an email address to ask about deeper cleaning, so maybe that involves opening it up: To clean Breez, please follow the steps below: 1. Unplug Breez before cleaning. 2. Gently wipe down the surfaces with a damp, soft cloth and then wipe down again with a clean, dry cloth. If needed, use the hose attachment from your household vacuum to remove any accumulated dust from the front grille or rear air inlets. Hover the hose attachment slightly above the plastic surfaces on Breez to prevent scratching. Ensure all surfaces are completely dry before plugging the unit back in and turning it on. If you need deeper cleaning assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at cs@getsnooz.com.
I am a little confused; can it operate on battery or should be always plugged in? I've been using some apps on my tablet but recordings sound not natural. What about this gadget, for example can it give natural fan sound? Lastly, is this the model to be bought from this brand (for adult, no travel intention and no bluetooth speaker need) Many thanks
There is no internal battery with this one, so it needs to be plugged in at all times to work. The fan sound is pretty good for a white noise machine recording, but it is just a recording. And those never sound quite as natural as a real fan. As for whether it's right for you, then it is a good choice if you don't need to travel and don't need a Bluetooth speaker. You then just need to decide whether a device that plays Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and has a multicoloured nightlight is also suitable for an adult. The vast majority of white noise machines that have recordings also include a couple of kiddy songs, so that's not unusual. If you really don't want one with any clues that it might be for kids, you'd need to look at models like the Dohms from Yogasleep, or LectroFans, Sound+Sleep, Snooz etc from other brands. If all you want is a fan sound, I'd recommend getting one with a real fan. They just sound better. If you think you might want other sounds at some point, then this is a good device.
@@nosleeplessnights1 Many thanks, very appreciated 🙏 Wishing peaceful nights ✨️
You're welcome - same to you🙂
For the past year, I’ve been using AirPods Pro 2 to help me sleep. They’re great at creating silence, but when I sleep on a firm pillow, they become uncomfortable as they press on my ear, and I end up removing them at night. So, I ordered the Anker Sleep A20, hoping they’ll be more comfortable. They don’t have noise cancellation, so I’ll likely need to use background noise or music for sound isolation. I’m not sure if I’ll like it since with the AirPods, I didn’t need any sound - they blocked noise well on their own. I just hope the Ankers work well and won’t disturb my sleep anymore.
That's the thing with the Airpods Pro 2 - the noise cancellation on its own is really impressive, but unless you use a soft pillow, they aren't so practical for side sleeping for an extended length of time. The A20s are definitely much more comfortable when lying on your side in my experience. However, as you point out, they don't have active noise cancellation, so to make the best use of them you need to use some audio to mask any external noise you can hear in bed. My advice would be to experiment with the different in-app sounds, and also the tune sounds feature combined with the equaliser. With those three elements, there is huge scope for customising the sound, so hopefully you can find something you don't mind listen to and doesn't keep you awake.
@@nosleeplessnights1 Thanks
No problem
Can you use your normal phone alarm or do you need to use the alarm in the app with your earphones?
You can, but the normal phone alarm will sound simultaneously through both the phone speakers and the headphones. App alarm will only sound through the headphones.
So, I just tested the different options again to be sure as I don't use them all. There are basically 3 main alarm options, depending on the mode you have the A20s set to. 1. Use the in-app alarm on sleep mode, which is a limited selection of tones. The tone will only play through the A20s 2. Set your normal phone alarm while in sleep mode. In this case, your sleep sounds will continue playing, and your phone alarm will sound through the phone as normal. 3. Set your phone alarm while in Bluetooth mode. In this case, whatever music or sounds you are listening to will stop, and your normal phone alarm will ring both through the A20s and your phone. I'm not sure if there is a way to stop the phone alarm playing through the phone and isolate it to the A20s in option 3.
@@nosleeplessnights1 that’s actually perfect. A big concern is that if they fall out in the middle of the night, I wouldn’t hear my alarm. Thank you so much for checking it out.
No problem. I thought as much, which is why I wanted to check before replying:-)
There is no easy way to prevent the sound from coming from your phone, but it's by design in case they fall out.
Good review.. I have both the A10 & A20 the longer battery life was why I changed.... Ok i have to rewrite this. After using these every night they are better then the A10s. I can't really say with a good heart 'just buy 2 pairs of A10s'. The A20s are better because you get a sound sleep on one charge.. That said it depends what you are buying them for. These are not the solution to snoring (nor the A10s). You need to think about what sound or sounds you are trying to block out before buying them. As far comfort goes these are so good as are the A10s like so so soft in your ears..
Thanks! Is that with or without audio that they blocked out noise better for you?
@@nosleeplessnights1I prefer my buds with some music playing. I get white noise from the split system ac in my bedroom. I just saw someone asked if they wore the buds as ear blugs would they work better i just think 'yes because they are so much more comfortable and fit better in your ears'. I don't think I could sleep at all without earbuds now. We are creatures of habbit it would feel very hard to sleep without them now. Have you tried the Oslow sleep buds?
It sounds like you've got what works well for you dialled in, which is great. If you find the A10 are a better fit for you, that's all that matters. I definitely agree that we are creatures of habit - I sometimes regret testing new sleep products that affect my sleep negatively or just irritate me for whatever reason. I recently bought the Ozlo sleep buds and am very excited about testing them out thoroughly and comparing them with the A20s. I will do a video review of them at some point, but need more time to test them properly.
@@nosleeplessnights1 I was about to do the same, buy the Oslo.. It's out of a big curiosity as I almost brought into the crowd funding for them. I'll be really interested in your review. I didn't mean to write such a critical first response. Your review covers everything about the A20s really well. Oh the locator function on the A20s is really good to. I'll subscribe to your channel and be interested in your thoughts.
I did it!! The burrito method is my favorite. I don’t care about walking around the bed.
Nice one! Did it take you a few goes, or did you nail it straight away?
Very helpful - thank you!
