Thanks for the review! I’m considering getting the Alaska Bear silk version or the original, but I was wondering if you know if the original had a metal piece for the nose as well? And if the silk material outside the strap on the silk version is slippery - as if it would slide off when sleeping? Very grateful for these reviews!
You're welcome! I'm happy to hear you liked my reviews. The original doesn't have a bendable nose piece. The silk is quite slippery I guess. Whether it slides off when you sleep probably depends a bit on the combination of the material, how tight you have it, your hair, and how much you change positions in the night. So I couldn't tell you really. All sleep masks slide off sometimes though, and I wouldn't say this one is any different.
I really really enjoy how you make reviews, very much straight to the point ! Congrats, not easy to find . This is my second comment to one of your videos ( i am kind of trying to improve my sleep) , so for this one here it goes : i've been using a silk mask , i really like the feel of it on my face BUT it doesnt block all the light (not even close) and i am very sensitive to any light . I have seen your other video and i know manta was not the best but i am wondering about the pro ? will you ever review it ? i am a side sleeper :)
Hi! Thanks so much for the kind words - it really means a lot:-) I don't have plans currently to review the Manta Pro as I'm very busy with a couple of other products I'm testing. It takes me ages to thoroughly test, film, edit, and write about each product as I work alone and am a bit slow... That said, it is on my radar to look into at some point. I just couldn't say when. Which is the silk mask you've been using so far? Does the light come in around the nose area, or is the material just not opaque enough?
@@nosleeplessnights1 I totally understand and i guess it is a niche product because of the price tag, but right now i am a bit sleep deprived and it is the worst thing. I can give you my feedback when it gets here (Portugal so it could take a while). The mask that i own is from Amazon but i removed the tag so i dont remember the brand. its silk (real silk) but the nose area doesnt block the light and also the material itself. It has been good but not near perfect , if manta doesnt work i will try the Alaska. Unfortunatly most masks reviewed are american so i end up paying more just for transport
Fingers crossed it works well for you:-) Many of the silk sleep masks sold on Amazon are very similar, but they do sometimes have a slightly different shape around the nose area. The light really shouldn't shine through the mask itself though - that doesn't sound good. Also, maybe one with a flexible nose cartilage could be worth trying in the future if the Manta doesn't work well for you - especially if you can send it back for a refund and keep trying them until you find the right one.
Hi Ethan. I have watched many of your videos. I have a barking dog next door. I use the Mack's earplugs you recommend. And I play your pink noise all night. Would you please post a comment and tell me what other products you recommend. Dealing with the dog owners has been fruitless. They are truly selfish, uncaring, narcissistic LOUD noisy people. I would greatly appreciate any advice you can provide. Cheers from Across the Big Pond.
Hi John, sorry for the slow reply, I've been under the weather! Dog barking is such a tricky one to deal with - I feel for you, really I do. Where is the dog noise coming from - the windows or a shared wall?
@@nosleeplessnights1 Hi Ethan, I am sorry to hear you have not been feeling well. Life is difficult enough, without having to deal with an illness. I hope you make a full recovery soon. Thank you for answering my question. Yes, the constant, incessant barking dog belongs to my neighbor, and the sound comes into my home through a "sliding glass window". I can not afford to remodel at this time. So, I am watching your videos. Any suggestions for the noise of a barking dog coming through my window? Thanks again for your time. I do hope you are feeling much better soon. And Ethan, you have a great Channel. Such a wonderful resource.
Thanks John, I appreciate the well wishes. I am back in action again now:-) Depending on how big the window is, and how willing you are to create a potential eyesore, the best best might be to do something to the window to block more sound rather than using any devices in bed with you. If it's a small window, you can get custom made secondary double glazing, which may be out of your budget, but can work well. Otherwise, some DIY action might work by filling the frame with thick material at night or whatever you can think of to soak up the sound waves. You would need to completely fill it to have any success, as sound waves will find their way through the smallest of gaps. And obviously, you need to balance the need for air, light, and style...I'll leave that up to you of course. Otherwise, good foam earplugs or headphones will probably work best. If you tried something like a white noise machine, you'd need to really crank the volume up to drown out loud barking, which isn't so nice to listen to either.
Hope you keep uploading and keep the reviews honest forever. love the reviews man appreciate it
Thanks for your kind words:-) I will do my best!
thanks so much for testing this! exactly the comparison i was looking for
That's good to know:-) which one did you like most?
