UPDATE: The QuietOn company filed for bankruptcy earlier in 2024, and their website went offline for a while. However, the former CEO along with the founder then set up a new company called Soundless and resurrected the QuietOn earbuds. The website is back online, but you can't buy the earbuds directly from them any more. Instead, there is a list of distribution partners on their home page who sell them. This information came directly to me in an email conversation I had with the staff member in charge of communications when I wrote to them after spotting they were back in business.

Thought we had the holy grail, finally. Appreciate the thorough review. Side sleeper looking to block out snoring. Really disappointed that these don't block more noise than foam plugs.
I'm glad the review was helpful! Sorry to disappoint you with my findings. I shouldn't be too sorry though if it saves you from buying something that was unlikely to meet your expectations:-) I'm not sure the holy grail exists (yet) when it comes to blocking out snoring that's right next to you in bed, especially if it's particularly loud and/or you are a light sleeper and sensitive to noise. There's just something about snoring that has a way of finding its way around, through, across, or over whatever we use to block it out! In my view, it's a case of finding the most effective and comfortable way to reduce the volume to a hopefully tolerable level. So with that in mind, I found the Quieton are very comfortable and will reduce some snoring, but no better than just the right foam earplugs. As I said in the vid, I'm just one person testing them though, so I recommend seeing what other people have to say about them. I have decades of experience testing earplugs and know exactly which ones work best for me, so it was a tough competition in that respect. Having said that, if the Quieton were especially amazing at blocking snoring, I believe I would have found that out, no matter how good my earplugs are.
This is tricky because there are no decent ANC headphones that play music and are designed specifically for sleep. The Quieton will help block out some vehicle noise, but perhaps not all of it if it's loud and/or sudden. Alternatively, you'll need to consider standard headphones from bigger companies like Apple, Sony, Bose, Sennheiser etc
I got my QuietOn today in the mail. I wish I'd seen your video first. I had been hoping for zero or near-zero (given the 'wave cancellation' aspect), but really they just reduce the sound. I can't say at the moment they do much better than foam earplugs. For hundreds of $$ in cost, I had hoped for way, way better.
Sorry to hear they aren't working as well as you hoped. Are you planning on asking for a refund? Out of interest, did you buy them and then look up reviews once you started having doubts, or did see other reviews that didn't assess them the way I did?
@@nosleeplessnights1 I had read a few review web pages that expressed them favorably, in addition to their user comments expressing similar challenges that I face. And I think you highlight a key benefit - using them when out of the home, such as on a plane, where some people might not want to use earplugs. As for the holy grail - I am also looking for that as it doesn't seem to exist yet. When they are more expensive than the AirPods Pro 2 the one thing they do, the Noise Cancelling part, must be much better than the AirPods pro 2! Or they are useless!
I'm not sure I'd go so far as to call them useless, because they do have three other key points in their favour compared to the AirPods Pro 2: they are more comfortable to wear when lying on your side, the battery life is significantly better, and there is no Bluetooth connectivity (for those that value that point). However, they clearly don't match the Airpods where the noise cancelling part is concerned, so it would perhaps be good if the price reflected that.

I have them and they are nice by blocking the noises while you sleep. I have used them for more than one year, amazing. The problem is that they have technical problems. In my case, one of them take longer to turn on, or sometimes has only 6 or 7 hours of battery life. Its a battery problem. I haveany sleep problems and i am very used to the quiet on. Can you give me: - solution for memory foam tips compatible? - equal or better product that quiet on 3? Looking forward to hear feom you soon
I don't know which ones are exactly compatible. I just tried some of my other tips after reading your comment and none of them fit perfectly. The closest were the Sony WF1000-XM4, but they were still a tiny bit loose, so I think the seal would not be perfect and they might fall out in your ear. Perhaps Sony make some other tips that are the right size. You need to measure the stem and look online. As for equal or better, the Quieton were unique in a way because other companies either have audio as well, or are not intentionally made to be so small. I am currently editing a review I did of the Soundcore sleep A20 and will publish it this week hopefully. They don't have ANC, but are very small and comfortable and have sounds on the app that you can use to mask noise. But if you want silence and just ANC from tiny earbuds - there are none I can think of that are equal to the Quieton. Sleep earbuds continue to be an underdeveloped area sadly...
Why have they been discontinued? I have a pair of QuietOn 3 and had for 3 years now. They've helped me out but their website is now gone. What's happened to them?
what's more important to you - small size and comfort or active noise cancellation? I don't think there is a direct next best, so it's a case of deciding what your priority is maybe.
Yeah well I really liked the size and comfort of the QuietOn 3. I've got the Anker Soundcore A20s but they do more noise masking which is ok but I prefer just quietness than listening to white noise stuff. I think if I had to choose maybe ANC would win. I've got the overhead SonyXM5 s and they are phenomneal!!! (although can't really sleep with them). I think there is more scope in the market for a similar product to QuietOn
I totally agree - there is definitely a demand for that style of earbud. There are many headphones which are fantastic for ANC, but not practical for sleep. When someone nails the combination, it will be very welcome!
I don't think you can buy them now anyway as the company has declared insolvency. Maybe they will be bought out and rescued, though I would be surprised if that happened. Currently, there are no decent sleep-specific earbuds with good noise cancellation that I know of. You'd need to look at normal earbuds and find some that you can wear comfortably in bed if you want active noise cancellation. I'm currently testing the Soundcore Sleep A20, and will review them in the coming weeks. They don't have active noise cancellation, but are very comfortable and have a good range of sleep sounds built into their app. But not noise cancelling, they do almost nothing unless you play some audio to mask the sound of your neighbours.
@@nosleeplessnights1 Thank you for clearing the confusion, I was trying to access the website of quiteon since long time to buy the foams for QuiteOn 3 since a long time, but it has been shut down. No problem! Yes, their website has gone now. Maybe they will be rescued and come back in some form, but I don't know. I think you might be able to find compatible tips on a website that specializes in replacement tips. I can't recommend one though because I haven't tried.
Fair enough! I imagine it will be for many people. I think these serve quite a niche purpose, so hopefully those who are specifically looking for noise cancellation without audio will find them, and those who want audio too won't waste too much of their time checking them out!
Correct, there's no alarm function. That's one reason I wanted to show that you can hear a phone alarm when wearing them - at least I can with my phone on a loud enough volume setting, and my sensitivity to noise when sleeping.
It depends what kind of noise they are making. If it's just music, then maybe yes, If it's doors slamming or other sudden sound, then probably not much beyond having something stuffed in your ears!
That's a really tough one. In the ideal world, we could just have a polite chat with them and ask them to do something about their doors, or be more gentle. But that's not always achievable if the neighbors are not on friendly terms with you or not the type of people to listen to your concerns. For blocking the sound, earplugs or headphones with music can help a bit. And maybe putting more 'things' in the bedroom to help soak up some of the noise energy if it's quite a minimalist setup. Beyond that, you're looking at potentially expensive sound insulation work, with no guarantee it will fix the problem unless it's done to a high standard and the appropriate 'fix' for the noise source and setting. I wish I had a perfect solution for you, but this is one of the harder noise problems to deal with, unfortunately.
@@nosleeplessnights1It is. thank you. My best solution that saved my life is ear foams + loud brown noise on speakers, one of the speakers rotated toward the ceiling so it messed with the soundwaves coming from them,
These are not great at all! I was really disappointed with these and call them a “QuietCon” they make around a 10-15% reduction in noise at best. I wasn’t expecting total silence but I was expecting maybe 50%. I can hear the electric train on a quiet track from 1km away wearing these. No better than wearing foam plugs.
I don't think the company will be taking your new name up in their marketing! Sorry you didn't like them. I think it's possible to get close to that 50% or even higher - it all depends on the noise source and the fit in your ear. But yes, good foam earplugs are hard to beat. I can get better noise reduction with super dense foam earplugs than most high-end noise-cancelling headphones!
I have used Sleepbuds2 for 2 years and Quiteon3.1 for 2 weeks. The batteries in my Sleepbuds were no longer lasting, so I bought them as replacements, but I was quite disappointed. It's almost questionable whether Quiteon's ANC is working. I don't feel any difference from foam earplugs. Rather, it is a burden to maintain as it is a form of its own standard. Written with a translator.
Thanks for sharing your experience, even if it doesn't seem to have been a good one! That's the thing with noise cancellation without music - it's not easy to do a better job than really good foam earplugs...
Hello and thank you for your precise and useful test. However, I have an essential question that remains unanswered. How QuietOn are supposed to be worn ? Is it more like a classic earplug, meaning that foam goes into the ear canal and exerts pressure on it, or is it more like an earpod pro, meaning it's "put on" the entrance of the ear canal like a plug. This is a very important aspect for me, because most earplugs (and even small one) exert a disturbing pressure inside the ear canal, which is not the case with earpods pro or nothing phone pro (which I have and which are extremely comfortable, by the way). Thank you very much in advance if you take the time to answer this question.
You're welcome - I'm glad it was useful. So, the Quieton do have the memory foam tip which expands a bit in the ear. But it doesn't expand as much as a foam earplug, and doesn't go as deep (unless you have very small ear canals). So I'd say they are more like standard earbuds than foam earplugs. And the fact that they are so small also makes them feel less 'stuffed' in your ear as earplugs.
The reason why i dont prefer ear foams is that they get very hot humid & don’t breath, they can add allot of pressure. İ love my quietons. More comfortable than my sleep a10.
That's fair enough, I can understand your point as earplugs do have a habit of creating a feeling of pressure in your ears. I personally don't ever think of them as being humid, but I can also understand that potentially being an issue. I still need to test the A10 too...thanks for the reminder!
Hello my friend! I've been searching for sleepbuds for a long time to help my snoring husband sleep. Have you ever tried sleeping next to someone who snores a lot? Did it work? Thank you for the help
Nothing comes close to the Bose Sleepbuds 2 … they did it perfectly for me… now discontinued by Bose sadly due to lack of broad scale demand .. I pray someone will do something similar in shape and effectiveness before my one give up ..👍🏻
It is a shame they were discontinued - I hope they are working on another model. I am currently editing a review of the Soundcore Sleep A20 which I'll publish soon. They don't have ANC, but are very comfortable and also have lots of noise masking options on the companion app.
I have the Bose quiet comfort II earbuds (220$) , I have the huge Sony wh-1000xm4 (360$) and I've just paid 300$ (incl VAT) for these QuietOn 3.1 and I must say I'm disappointed . These are the worst ANC earbuds I bought. Even the Soundcore liberty 4NC are far better. The only good quality I see in the quiteOn 3 is its low profile: you can really sleep sideways but you hear everything. Every bit of snore ! Don't get me wrong, The ear tips seal very good (you can hear your own breathing). However, a simple 2$ foam ear plugs will do the same job. so in that sense I would price the QuietOn 3.1 to be 10$ or a fency ear foam.
@@nosleeplessnights1 no I didn't watch your review before. I think that their website is creating unrealistic expectations regarding the quiet levels. And that's a problem.
Hard to say - they aren't the only company trying their best to promote their brand. That's the world we live in, and a key reason I try to cover the pros and cons of all products I review. The reality is that nobody would ever buy anything if the marketing text was along the lines of 'Our product works well for some people in some situations, but not everyone.' The only exception I can think of off the top of my head is 'wonky' fruit and vegetables. For some reason, I'm a sucker for those. Probably because they taste the same and cost less.

Yes. They help with light snoring, but some loud snoring still comes through.
I wished I saw your review before buying!
Uh-oh...what was it you didn't like?
@@nosleeplessnights1 But them to try to block heavy snoring, they just arrived ( after 2 months since ordering) but I haven't test them yet
I see. I hope they do work for you then - let me know!
@@nosleeplessnights1 thanks… I had considered those do your review will be helpful
It's taking me ages to edit (as always!) but I will hopefully finish it later next week:-)
Est-ce qu'ils éliminent les aboiements des chiens s'il te plaît ???
Only if you play the right audio through them, and probably quite loudly. Even then, it depends on how close and loud they are.
Sorry to hear they didn't work out for you. I'm guessing you didn't catch a review like mine before buying them?
@@nosleeplessnights1 no I didn't watch your review before. I think that their website is creating unrealistic expectations regarding the quiet levels. And that's a problem.
Hard to say - they aren't the only company trying their best to promote their brand. That's the world we live in, and a key reason I try to cover the pros and cons of all products I review.
The reality is that nobody would ever buy anything if the marketing text was along the lines of 'Our product works well for some people in some situations, but not everyone.'
The only exception I can think of off the top of my head is 'wonky' fruit and vegetables. For some reason, I'm a sucker for those. Probably because they taste the same and cost less.
@@nosleeplessnights1 so I did the Dyson vacuum cleaner test. I wear the earbuds while 1 feet from a working Dyson at full power. The quieton 3.1 had a minor effect compared to the Bose QC2 earbuds. I am sending them back to Finland.
Sorry to hear that. I hope the returns process goes smoothly!
