Thanks for another great review! In my opinion you are THE best reviewer of these devices on the Internet, because you actually use them, in contrast to those who simply review a large array of random, unrelated products. Do you have any opinion of the Sound Oasis machines? This machine seems so similar to the Big Red Rooster, with an identical set of sounds and the clicky buttons. Judging by the sound quality of your two video reviews, the Rooster sounds better than this Homedics model. As to 20-second loops, I have a couple of Roffie models which are different from the model you reviewed, which has a light. I agree with your assessment that the loops on the Roffie model may be as long as 30 seconds. What I do to mask the loops is to use them in combination with a non-looping model, such as Lectrofan Evo or Sound+Sleep SE/Mini. For example, my favorite Roffie sounds are the various thunder sounds, so I use on of those sounds, accompanied by a wind & surf sound on Evo or a rain sound on Sound+Sleep. The extra noise from the non-looping model offsets my ability to focus on the thunder loop. I hope that makes sense.
Thanks for the very positive words Thomasco - I really appreciate it! I haven't tried those machines, but have them on my radar. There are so many these days, it's hard to find time to review them all. That's a very interesting idea about mixing two devices. The only time I've tried something like that is when I turned 10 of them on at the same time on maximum volume as an experiment to see what it would be like. It wasn't nice... I can imagine your idea working though, as it's more reasonable than my test!
Unfortunately not. If it's very loud, I don't think any white noise machine will prevent you from hearing it. If it's not so loud, then any of them might work. You just have to experiment really. Sorry I can't give you a clear answer!
Very strange loud button press sound, I would imagine as it's help to sleep noise, buttons will wake you up if you decide to change sound or volume while you half asleep

Do you happen to have a recommendation for blocking train sounds? I live next to a railway and want to block the horn noises. ♥️

You're right, the buttons are a bit clicky! It seems to be quite a common problem with some of the lower cost white noise machines.
I thought it was supposed to stay under the pillow
Not that I'm aware of. Now I'm thinking I might try that though to see what it sounds like!
