In case you missed it in the description, here's where you can get the Soundcore Sleep A20 if you want to try them (paid links): Amazon: amzn.to/3xQCr6I Soundcore website: soundcore.sjv.io/Y96L4j I also have a question for you. If you watched the noise tests section, is there anything you'd like to see me do differently next time? I'm currently testing the Ozlo sleep buds, so there's still time for suggestions🙂
My respect for this review. Nicely produced, intelligent, clear, good video and audio. Thank you. Specifically, as someone who has been dithering about buying some of these - I have various ear buds and sleep bands which are either uncomfortable or otherwise sub-optimal - I think it's time to get my wallet out!
Thank you for your nice feedback, I always really appreciate that. Out of interest, which ones do you have that haven't quite worked for you? I've tried sleep sleep bands in the past, so I know there is a big difference in quality between the better made ones and the cheap copies. It's a bit of a minefield with those! If you do get the A20s, I hope you like them. Let me know if you have time in the future and remember my channel:-)
I have several of the sleep bands which are usually branded with some slightly strange Chinese/English text (Mosicozy, Enjoying, Inktopoint...). Essentially the bands work OK and run through the night without shouting 'LOW BATTERY', like you need to abandon ship or some other emergency! The problem is that they rotate as you change position so you start off listening to an audio book and end up with distant muttering. Additionally, the manufacturers try moving the rigid battery/switch from the front to the side of back: invariably it ends up uncomfortable but the Wonder Woman central front position is the least-worst option for me. I use the night audio to shut up my over active mind, rather than drown out partner snoring (women don't snore, sweat, fart or swear anyway, of course...). I have the excellent Soundcore Liberty 4 NC ear buds and some from Technics, both of which are superb, but unless you're a fidget-free back sleeper (or dead...) these wake you up pretty quickly if you roll onto your side, even on the softest pillow. BTW: I've also tried a couple of audio pillows. These are borderline OK and essentially a badly implemented, good idea! Generally they are too quiet for me and hopeless unless you're right on the speaker. The Soundcore v1 and v2 sleep buds get very mixed reviews both in terms of comfort/useability and reliability in terms of charging. I've ordered some but paid the optional £10 to get swap-out warranty cover. We shall see how it goes, but thanks again for the detailed appraisal: I appreciated it. John
Fabulous review. I especially like the comparison charts. I have been using my A20 sleep buds for about 3 weeks now. I had to replace my Bose sleep buds after about 3 years of use. The A20 is a great choice for me and does more than the Bose in many respects.
Thanks! I'm glad you liked the review. Thanks for letting me know specifically about the charts too. I was a bit unsure whether it was too much information, so it's nice that you mentioned that. It's interesting that you find they do more than the old Sleepbuds. I'm looking forward to seeing how the Ozlo, made by former Bose employees, compare. They seem to do a lot too, so I'm keen to see what the differences are.
Amazing review as always. Would love a review on the manta sound mask and comparisons with sleepphones wireless and musicozy. These reviews are always my go to and I hope you get to review the ozlo buds soon!
Thanks, I'm glad you liked the review. Thanks for coming back and for your kind feedback too - both of those things mean a lot to me! I have the Manta and Ozlo on my radar. I'm thinking of buying the Ozlo Sleepbuds in the next few days as they take a while to ship as I understand it. When I do, I imagine I'll test them in a similar way to the Soundcore A20, and include the A20 in those tests.
Thank you for all your reviews. They are always so detailed and really put each device to the test. I have bought items that you have recommended. Keep up all the good work for all the light sleepers looking for solutions.
Seriously, amazing review. I had sleeping problems all my life and unfortunatelly easily distracted during my sleep even with a very small amount of noise. I am using my normal earbuds mostly listening brown noise for a year and I realized that many People suffer this so they already created special earbuds for this. Anyway, I realized a20 option, and I was just checking on UA-cam. And I watched your video with my mouth open! Amazing review, so comprehensive. Seriously helpfull. And I will order as quick as possible, again many thanks for your helpfull video review.
Thank you very much for your kind feedback. I'm very glad to hear you liked the review. If you do get them, I'd love to hear back from you once you've had a chance to use them. I hope they do a better job of playing brown noise than your current earbuds:-)
Great review. I just purchased them and came across your video. I wasn’t sure if I had to turn the earbud when I put it in my ear to “ lock” in. Your video was very helpful. Thank you 😊
Great review! Thank you for your time and editing. Just for anyone interested, I have had a pair of Acoustic Sheep Sleep Phones since 2021. I have beaten the crap out of them and they still work. They are fidgety and fall off your head a lot but if your like me, a 95% side sleeper than they do relieve the most ear pain. I keep a pair of Airpod 2 pro's by my bed as my emergency bad neighbor ANC's! ; )
Hi! Nice to hear from you again, and I'm glad you liked the review. It's not often someone mentions the editing, which takes me days as I'm such an amateur still. So your comment made my day:-) I agree that the Sleepphones are pretty robust. The ones I reviewed back in 2020 are still working too. They are good for side sleepers, for sure, though you rightly mention the fact that the headband naturally shifts around on your head during the night. I hadn't really put much thought into that recently, but I think that might be one of the key reasons to choose earbuds over a headband style - assuming they are also comfortable. And yes, the AirPods Pro 2 have great ANC so I can see why you use them as a back-up. I hope one day someone, somewhere, invents earbuds with the ANC of the AirPods (or better) and the small size and focus on comfort of the Soundcore Sleep A20s (or better). A soft headband with ANC that doesn't involve sticking things inside your ear canals would be amazing, but I don't have my hopes up for that any time soon!
Thank you. I ordered the product first through the introduction of an acquaintance, and I am waiting for delivery. I'm very excited about your review. I've had a habit of sleeping with Max earplugs for more than a decade, and without earplugs, I feel anxious. I want to try a20 and share reviews with people who feel a lot. Thank you.
Thanks! I really appreciate the feedback, especially if you've had a chance to check what I said yourself. Do you like using them? I'd love to hear your thoughts, be it the positives or negatives.
Thanks, glad you liked it. I will try the loop when I get around to doing an updated earplugs comparison, which may not be for a little while though. I doubt I will do a single review of them though.
I'm happy to hear you liked the review. I hope you like the A20s too. If you have a minute to pop back, I'd love to hear your thoughts once you've had time to use them:-)
Will there ever be earbuds that have noise isolation and cancellation? I have noisy neighbors upstairs and bought the Bose ones a few years ago and found noise cancellation to be more effective than noise masking.
There are lots of earbuds that have noise isolation and cancellation. They just aren't designed specifically with sleep in mind! Hopefully a company will nail the problem one day and create very comfortable earbuds with noise cancellation that can be worn in bed all night, even on your side. For now, it remains the holy grail waiting to be discovered...
Active Noise Cancellation (basically playing the “opposite” sound back to you) is very difficult in a small enough form factor to be more comfortable to sleep in. The additional hardware requirements just can’t be fit in something super small (yet)
Very impressed with these buds. They're a bit pricy imo. But they work well. I've long used Galaxy buds 2 for sleep as they're smaller. But these are much more comfy in that regard. Great sound quality as well. Sound much better than i thought they would given their size.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I never imagined my channel would be visited by John Wick, but I guess hitmen need to sleep too😉 It's all relative, but I can see them being viewed as pricey compared to many standard daytime use headphones - if you want to compare them to the entire range of available headphones out there. At least they are less expensive than the Kokoon and Ozlo sleep buds. There seems to be a bit of a premium put on this style of sleep headphones at the moment. Perhaps because there just aren't enough competitors making them to bring the price down.
Thanks for this in-depth review! Maybe you can answer how well these headphones will mask the sound of someone speaking in the same room. Or in that case it's better to use regular headphones with ANC.
You're welcome. I think that depends on how loudly they are talking, and which settings you use. I think it is definitely possible, but might require higher volume levels if they speak loudly and close to you. Regular headphones with ANC can work well, but only very good ones and again only if they don't speak too loudly if you only use them for ANC without music or other sounds.
Just echoing everyone else's glowing praise for the review, I'm pretty happy with my A20's but the only niggle/query I have is regarding the Graphic Equaliser function within the app. I have stored the maximum number of custom sounds (4) within the "Sleep" mode and wanted to tweak them further with the Graphic EQ but can't seem to apply the EQ in real time, it's the only part of the process that seems a bit sketchy, I can fiddle endlessly with the sliders but there's no way of hearing the resulting effect on the sound to determine what's happening, the side and bottom graphic info also isn't illuminated as seen in the video. Any step-by-step advice would be greatly appreciated!🙂
Hi, thanks for your kind words, and for sharing your experience with the A20s. I just put them in to see if I could work out what the problem is, and I think I cracked it. Basically, you can't use the EQ when you're in sleep mode. Once you load the 4 sleep sounds onto the earbuds, they will stay as they are. You have to delete one of them, go back into Bluetooth mode, enter back into the audio library white noise options, choose or mix your sounds, and then open up the EQ to refine them in real time. Once you've done that, go back into the white noise sounds in the audio library and load the final masterpiece back onto the ear buds. Let me know if that works, and if not, I'll have another look. As for the graphic info, which one do you mean exactly? It may be your phone being different from mine, or a recent update, because I didn't edit the lighting of the app at all before I published the video. It may have been the way my camera picked it up as it's tricky to film the colours of some app screens, so if you tell me which one you mean I can double check.
@@nosleeplessnights1 Thanks for doing due diligence, I've been too busy with the final run-up to the madness of Christmas to rejig the stored sounds but will definitely attend to it post-Dec 25th and report back. I do find the Soundcore App a bit clunky for my liking though, it's hardly a seamless user-friendly experience for someone who's of my generation and stuffing around with it on a small screen only compounds this for me. When I use the tap function to control volume for example, the output seems to lower or raise by a massive amount, not incrementally, which then forces me to grope around for my phone in the middle of the night to adjust the slider within the app, anyway I'm actually very happy with the the earbuds despite all this and will get back to you in the New Year, hope you a have a good one ....
Oh just remembered the business with the Graphic Equaliser function, it will probably change when I go to use it in Bluetooth mode but the Hz and dB graphs are greyed out even though the sliders themselves are functional...
I know what you mean; it's a busy time of the year! I also know what you mean about the app...it can be confusing to use for sure. I hope you manage to get the sounds sorted out when you have time. The tap controls are a bit hit or miss, as I mentioned in the video. But at least there are tap controls! I've been testing the Ozlo sleep buds, and one thing that annoys me is the lack of tap controls, so you always have to use your phone to change any settings. As for the equaliser, I'm still not sure what doesn't match my video. I just checked again, and my equaliser still looks just like I showed in the video. And that is with the sliders brighter, and the dB and kHz levels more greyed out. That's the way they are meant to be. Maybe they just look different on your device?
Hi dear, can you clarify if we can still hear inside the earplug my morning alarm ? Via bluetooth inside earplug. Like blocking all sounds and allowing morning alarm. Thank you
Hi. There are 3 ways you can use an alarm tone: There are basically 3 main alarm options, depending on the mode you are in: 1. Use the in-built A20 app alarm on sleep mode, which is a small selection of tones to choose from. The A20 alarm tone will ONLY play through the A20. 2. Set your normal phone alarm while in sleep mode. Your sleep sounds will continue playing, and your phone alarm will play on the phone speaker as normal. Your phone alarm with NOT play on the A20 as well. 3. Set your phone alarm while in Bluetooth mode. In this case, whatever music or sounds you are listening to will stop, and your normal phone alarm WILL play through the A20 and your phone at the same time. So basically, if you set your phone alarm in sleep mode, you need to be careful that the sleep mode tones don't block out your phone alarm. In Bluetooth mode, it's not a problem because you basically get a double alarm. Personally, I used the in-built app alarm as it works fine.
i had to change my intial comments on these. please reread this. i think the comfort is hard to beat. I'm having trouble finding regular buds for when it's not safe to use blocking buds. Battery life is good.
I saw your edits. I'm glad they didn't turn out to be a disappointment after all. Sometimes it just takes some time to get used to a change in headphones and see how they work night after night.
Are they a good alternative to the Bose Sleepbud 2? I have had mine for a few years but the battery barely lasts 6 hours any more and I need an alternative.
@@nosleeplessnights1 thank you - I ended up buying them and used them for the first time last night. Good night sleep, very comfortable and 72% battery left in the morning. All good.
Do you think some earbuds with ANC (for example Sony's) would be better than these since they only have passive noise cancellation? Or they're good enough for the purpose? What are they like when compared to ANC feature?
If you can wear normal headphones comfortably in bed, and they have excellent noise cancellation, then I don't see the need to spend money on sleep-specific headphones. These headphones are really designed for people who can't wear normal headphones in bed. That may be because you sleep on your side or front, or your normal headphones are too bulky, or they irritate your ears after 7-9 hours. Most people change position in the night anyway, so even if you feel you are a back sleeper, it's possible you will wake in the night lying uncomfortably on your normal headphones. But if you don't, and they work just fine for you, then keep those and save your money.
@nosleeplessnights1 l still haven't got any earbuds, l'm trying to decide between soundcore a20 and some earbuds with ANC, l mainly want these for sleep when travelling. If we disregard comfort, are there any earbuds with ANC that can: (1) work when not connected to Bluetooth (like soundcore a20 can), and (2) that have got good battery life with ANC on to last through the night? Thank you in advance for your response! I really appreciate your opinion! (Thanks to you I bought Lectrofan Evo which is excellent for my home use.) *I've just read that soundcore a20 is rather low in volume in sleep mode, is that true? Is it useful then for sound masking?
I'm glad you liked the Evo! That's great to hear. Okay, so if you're deciding what to buy when travelling, if it's for flying, I would 100% get normal headphones with ANC. There are no dedicated sleep headphones with ANC and audio playback. The Quieton 3.1 had kind of reasonable ANC, but no audio. The company also had all sorts of problems, with many people having issues with refunds. They also went bankrupt, then set up again as a distributor, so I'm not sure what their long-term outlook is. The A20 are quieter in sleep mode, yes. But with noise masking and the volume turned up, they can still mask a lot of exernal noise. But if you use them in a noisy setting, like a plane, you'll just end up with extra noise on top of the noise. If you mean for hotels or other accommodation, then you could use the Soundcore or normal headphones. I don't think I'd have a preference. For me, however, the main question would be this: do you want to use them to listen to music or other audio when you are awake and travelling? If so, I would always choose normal headphones with ANC over any sleep headphones. I am currently testing the Ozlo, for example, and will say the same about them: good for sleep, not good for daytime use.
@@nosleeplessnights1 I meant to use these for sleeping in hotels in the first place🙂. I'm used to listening to white noise as I am a light sleeper, and therefore I'm looking for something that would be practical and easy to carry around. Thanks a lot for your expert opinion😊, you clarified some things to me! I might give soundcore a20 a try. In case it doesn't work, I'll get an extra backup with ANC headphones.
No problem. In that case, they might be a good choice. Another factor is the good battery life, which is useful if you're out of your usual device charging routine and on the go.
I have the A10 sleep buds and the one big issue I have with them is the buds being able to maintain a solid connection with my source device (99% of the time that is a 2021 M1 16" MacBook Pro) with my ear layed down on my pillow, so they with glitch out and sometimes have difficulty re-establishing the connecton. Have you had any connectivity issues like that with the A20 model? I like the A10 fine for what it does, but having weak connectivity is more than a little frustrating!
I haven't had any connectivity issues like what you describe, no. I also use my phone rather than a laptop, so I don't have any experience of the exact set up you use. In general, I've been happy with the stability and speed of connection with my phone. I usually use the A20s for the sleep sounds stored directly on the earbuds rather than streaming (unless I'm doing some testing). But when I need to switch to Bluetooth mode to make changes, it's never a problem.
I also own these. I will tell you I have a stable connection. However the only last about 8-9 hours in bluetooth mode. But in sleep mode which isn't connected via Bluetooth about 11-13 hours. Just a fair warning. I don't find any earbud comfortable. But out of all the earbuds I have ever used these are the most comfortable overall. My ears are super sensitive because of damage to my ear canals and my tinnitus. So you probably won't have that issue.
Is there a mode where they just block out sound and don’t play anything? I don’t want to listen to anything just want something that will block out noise.
Unfortunately not because they don't have active noise cancellation. The only blocking they would do is whatever they block just by being physical objects in your ears. And they are nowhere near as good as earplugs if used just for that.
@@dab4539 None that I've tried that were specifically made for sleep. But many standard earbuds do. The Apple Airpods Pro 2, for example, have amazing noise cancellation with no music being played. But they are quite big and the battery won't last all night. So with normal headphones, it's a case of working out what might fit your needs.
@nosleeplessnights1 awesome, I really look forward to it! I appreciate all the work you've put into researching sleep aid products! I just began exploring the sleep buds realm and your channel and blog has been a huge time saver and a wealth of knowledge. You've definitely earned your subscription!
Thanks for your feedback - it's always good to know the channel is useful. I will do my best to keep it that way. As for the review, I doubt I will publish it soon, but hopefully within the next few weeks at some point. I don't have a regular publishing schedule like many channels do - it's too stressful and I'd lose sleep over it, which would be ironic...
@@nosleeplessnights1 Looking forward to that review!! 🙂 I currently own the Ozlo's since last August and use them daily. I went for the Ozlo's because I'm a former Bose sleepbuds II user, and I knew in advance they would be comfortable enough for a side sleeper like me. Seeing your review now I feel that the sound masking features in the Soundcore's are superior to the Ozlo's. I don't really regret my decision because the Ozlo's are very comfy and the sound scapes are sufficient. But despite only using the soundscapes from the library, with the volume at 40% and switching off the bluetooth, one of the earpieces now lasts 8.5/9 hours.. The battery life doesn't seem to deteriorate yet, but at some point in time the battery life will drop below 8 hours and I will need to replace them. Only discovered your channel today (better late than never😄) Thank you for making these detailed and honest reviews 🙌🏻
Hi! Welcome to the channel and I'm glad you like the reviews you've seen. I'm still testing the Ozlo, but from what I've experienced so far, I agree with the comparisons you make. They are very comfortable, probably more so than the A20. But there are many more sound masking options with the A20. The Ozlo ones are nice, but the lack of customisation is really noticeable after using the A20. There are actually turning out to be more differences than I'd imagined, so I will try to cover the main ones when I do the review, even though I will try to focus on the Ozlo most of all.
You're welcome. If you decide to try them, let me know how they compare in your opinion. I'm particularly interested in finding out what people think about their effectiveness relative to other headphones despite not having ANC.
Hello again! I remember our conversations about white noise machines. Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I hope you're coping as well as you can. I also had cancer back in 2011, so I know how difficult it can be. I wish you strength and good health:-) Yes, I have reviewed two. The Eight Sleep Pod 3, which you can see here: ua-cam.com/video/3NbvefQNUFY/v-deo.html. The Pod 4 is also out now, but there is still a lot to learn about how they work and feel from my video. I also discuss the BedJet 3 (an old video now) here: ua-cam.com/video/t6i1j3tw8mQ/v-deo.html I've been testing the Chilipad Dock Pro recently, and have just started preparing my review. That will probably take a few weeks as it always seems to take me ages to review more complex sleep tech. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask and I'll do my best to help.
@@nosleeplessnights1 These things are ridiculously expensive & I doubt they would be fixable. I need a more affordable option. I found a workaround last night by cooling my bed down with ice packs in lunch boxes, so it was cold when I got in it. I then kept a pillow cool by the bed and swapped it over but if I could find an affordable way of keeping myself cool all night, I wouldn't have issues at night. My workaround will not be v effective on a hot humid night! The cool pillow stopped the flush completely: so being cool is definitely the key to dealing with it.
Unfortunately, the active bed cooling systems are all relatively expensive, yes. There just aren't many to choose from, with nothing really in the way of an effective and cheap alternative. I know one or two have come along over the years, but they failed - likely due to the amount of problems they had. If a company comes along that makes a budget-friendly alternative to the main players that actually works well and doesn't have major problems with leaks, noise, connectivity etc, I will be reviewing it in a flash! Obviously, there are alternatives to the BedJet - fans. But there aren't really any good alternatives at the moment to the Eight Sleep and Dock Pro that do what they do effectively and reliably. At some point, I'd like to test out some of the cheaper pads I sometimes see online, but I don't plan to right now. There are various ways to try and keep cool in bed if you don't have air conditioning. There are tons of articles that discuss them. As clever as some of them are, the remaining question is always how do you keep the surface you lie on cool all night using simple DIY techniques? Answers on a postcard...
Hi! It is not a newer version of the Soundcore Sleep A20 - it is just a normal low-cost pair of headphones from Anker. It is a bit confusing, and probably would have been better if they called them something different...
I'm a student, so my budget is low. But I don't like earplug because it's quite dirty after many times used. Should I choose SOUNDCORE A30I or Galaxy Buds2 Pro (2nd hand)?
I understand the budget constraint - I was a student once, a long time ago. I haven't tried either of those headphones, so I can't give you any advice about them - sorry!
Can you use the mic of the phone while on call? Because I am aware that it doesn't have a mic. But can you use the mic of the phone as an alternative.😊
If you meant 'can you speak through the phone and listen to the other person through the A20s, I wasn't actually sure, so I just made a call to try. I put them in Bluetooth mode, with music playing. As soon as I pressed 'call' on my phone, the music stopped and the phone just worked as normal, with no audio coming through the headphones. So the answer is no. By the way, my parents said to say thank you to the person who asked because they were the ones that got a random phone call and a chat!🙂
No problem. I imagine they left out the voice call feature to further reduce the size of the earbuds, since comfort during sleep was the main priority, not everyday use.
Have you played around with all the settings in the app to test them? Are you double tapping quite quickly? If you tap slowly, they don't work well for me. You could also try a factory reset. Here are the instructions on their website: "Place the earbuds in the charging case and leave the case open. Press and hold the button on the charging case for 10 seconds until the LED indicators on the case flash 3 times. This confirms that the reset was successful."
Hi will i be able to block the noice from my neighbours dog while i sleep im like 10 meters away from the dog and i live in second floor in the next building . Ear plugs reduce the noice by like 70% i want to know will yhis do better than it :)
They are definitely capable of blocking out a lot of noise, especially if your earplugs have already shown that around 70% can be blocked. Whether they block 100% or not is another question. On their own with no sound, they will won't help much. You need to play audio, and potentially quite loudly, to block out noise as loud as a dog bark. Then you need to weigh up the pros and cons of listening to audio loudly for an extended period of time, and how safe that is for your ears. The good thing is that there are lots of different sounds you can experiment with to see what blocks dogs best. I haven't done that, but you may get lucky and find a sound, or combination of sounds, that masks the barking well without needing to be at an unpleasant volume. You could experiment by using normal headphones and UA-cam to play some sounds similar to the ones the Soundcore have. For example, try brown noise, pink noise, river, waterfall, rain. If any of those on their own help with normal headphones, then give the A20 a go. Just keep an eye on the returns time window and send them back for a refund if they don't do any better than your earplugs or aren't comfortable enough for you.
Have you experienced any latency issues when watching UA-cam on your phone? Somebody on the Amazon reviews mentioned this being an issue with them. Great review btw. 👍
@@nosleeplessnights1 I use the Avantree Repose, available through Amazon UK. For £30 they’re not bad. Very basic but comfortable for side sleepers. I just don’t like the band that sits around the back of your neck. This is why I was looking at the Soundcore A20.
Sorry, I meant which phone do you use to watch UA-cam? And do you watch on WiFi or your data? If I have a similar one, and you have any specific settings, I can test the latency and let you know:-)
Ok, so yes, there is a bit of latency when watching myself in this video (I know exactly how the audio should line up with the video, having watched it so many times while editing!). The latency is in the range of milliseconds, so it's not terrible, but it will be noticeable if you're paying attention or are sensitive to audio-video sync.
You can, but the normal phone alarm will sound simultaneously through both the phone speakers and the headphones. App alarm will only sound through the headphones.
So, I just tested the different options again to be sure as I don't use them all. There are basically 3 main alarm options, depending on the mode you have the A20s set to. 1. Use the in-app alarm on sleep mode, which is a limited selection of tones. The tone will only play through the A20s 2. Set your normal phone alarm while in sleep mode. In this case, your sleep sounds will continue playing, and your phone alarm will sound through the phone as normal. 3. Set your phone alarm while in Bluetooth mode. In this case, whatever music or sounds you are listening to will stop, and your normal phone alarm will ring both through the A20s and your phone. I'm not sure if there is a way to stop the phone alarm playing through the phone and isolate it to the A20s in option 3.
@@nosleeplessnights1 that’s actually perfect. A big concern is that if they fall out in the middle of the night, I wouldn’t hear my alarm. Thank you so much for checking it out.
Thanks for your kind words - I really appreciate it. I have the Ozlo firmly on my radar to try out. Whether it's soon or when they are generally available to buy is the question I'm still unsure about. When I do, I'm sure I'll want to discuss how they compare.
That's an impossible question for me to answer because I don't know how loud it is, how your hearing is, and what settings on the A20 you would happily tolerate. So the only answer I can give is unfortunately a vague 'maybe'. But I suspect if it's very loud banging, you'd need the volume turned up quite high to mask it, with an intense mix of white/pink/brown noise tracks. I would test how much you can tolerate that with normal headphones and pink or brown noise from a service like UA-cam or Spotify before buying the A20.
how loud do these go compared to an airpod pro. I'm looking for a very small earbud to play music in my helmet and the airpods are too bulky to get my tight fitting helmet on.
Definitely not as loud, though they can still be quite loud with the volume turned right up. As I said in the video, I typically found the white noise or music tracks too loud to listen to in bed with the volume maxed out. Do you mean motorbike helmet? If so, the lack of ANC might be a bigger issue I imagine. If it's a bike or some other helmet, then I guess it may be less important. As for the size, that shouldn't be a problem as they fit snugly in the ear.
I have those, and for me they are still not comfortable for side sleeping, probably because my ear canels are very small or my outer ears aren't deep enough even with the smallest ear tips and wings, so I wouldn't recommend them for anyone with small ears.
That's a shame. As I said in the video, I have larger ears and ear canals, so they work well for me. But I could see how those with smaller ear canals might have less space for them to hide away in when lying on their side. That will be an issue with all earbuds though, as it's rare that they are this tiny. If only there was a standardised system to match ear canal size to earbud size in the same way as shoe size! For now, unless you just know you have small ears, it's hard to predict in advance whether they will work for you or not. How do you find them on your back, and the overall quality though?
I have these and find them more comfortable than most others. However, I am a side sleeper, and after about an hour or two, I wake up with discomfort and have to remove them. Don't think I have small ears, and the issue is actually being a side sleeper
'Nothing in ear' doesn't refer to headphones or earplugs. I mean when you are not using headphones or earplugs, and therefore there is nothing at all in your ear. It gets 10/10 because it is just your body. Sorry for the confusion.
In case you missed it in the description, here's where you can get the Soundcore Sleep A20 if you want to try them (paid links):
Amazon: amzn.to/3xQCr6I
Soundcore website: soundcore.sjv.io/Y96L4j
I also have a question for you.
You're very welcome. Thank you also for the kind feedback - it's much appreciated. I hope my recommendations have turned out to be good ones for you!
Did you end up getting them?
Great review. I just purchased them and came across your video. I wasn’t sure if I had to turn the earbud when I put it in my ear to “ lock” in. Your video was very helpful. Thank you 😊
You're welcome - I'm glad you liked the video. What do you think of them so far, other than the doubts about the positioning?
Amazing review!! Thank you for this!
You're welcome, thanks for your kind words too:-)
Great review!
So your comment made my day:-)
I agree that the Sleepphones are pretty robust.
Thank you.
You're welcome. I hope they work well for you - let me know once you've had time to try them.
I bought them and I can say your review is by far the most accurate and informative about these. Very well done.
Thanks! I really appreciate the feedback, especially if you've had a chance to check what I said yourself.
Do you like using them? I'd love to hear your thoughts, be it the positives or negatives.
This is a very comprehensive review thanks for a fantastic effort it is greatly appreciated!
You're very welcome. Thanks for the feedback, which is also very much appreciated:-)
Excellent Review!
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it and I appreciate the feedback:-)
Brilliant review, and amazing product it is. Helped me manage my tinnitus better
Thanks for your kind feedback. It's good to hear they are useful for that.
Great review! I was wondering if you would ever try the Loop Quiet 2 earplugs? I'm torn between normal earplugs or earbuds.
Thanks, glad you liked it. I will try the loop when I get around to doing an updated earplugs comparison, which may not be for a little while though. I doubt I will do a single review of them though.
To me, loop quiet 1 is much better for isolating than 2
Excellent & thorough review - thanks for posting 👍 just ordered a pair !
@@cre9774 thanks wasn’t aware of this
Exactly that.
@@nosleeplessnights1so this one is not a noice cancelation? I need it badly, bc I need to sleep in a house that has 11 dogs that bark at night!😖
Love my quiteon 3.1 sad they discontinued. Tough times. I hope they come back stronger & better.
I haven't heard anything about them coming back and it's been a while since they declared insolvency.
I never imagined my channel would be visited by John Wick, but I guess hitmen need to sleep too😉
It's all relative, but I can see them being viewed as pricey compared to many standard daytime use headphones - if you want to compare them to the entire range of available headphones out there.
At least they are less expensive than the Kokoon and Ozlo sleep buds. There seems to be a bit of a premium put on this style of sleep headphones at the moment. Perhaps because there just aren't enough competitors making them to bring the price down.
Very good review. Thanks for sharing.
You're welcome, I'm glad you liked it.
Can you fall asleep listening to music and when it destcts you are asleep, will it automatically go to your chosen sleep mode noise?
Yes, the smart switch mode will do exactly that.
Ahh that's perfect. Thank you for your reply
No problem!
@@nosleeplessnights1 Thank you very much for your answer!
@neligio6167 no problem at all.
Thank you
Hi. There are 3 ways you can use an alarm tone:
There are basically 3 main alarm options, depending on the mode you are in:
@ thank you so much !!! ☺️
No problem!
i had to change my intial comments on these. please reread this. i think the comfort is hard to beat.
I didn't try the Sleepbuds 2, so unfortunately can't give you a first hand comparison.
The battery life is definitely better than that though.
@@nosleeplessnights1 thank you - I ended up buying them and used them for the first time last night. Good night sleep, very comfortable and 72% battery left in the morning. All good.
No problem. I'm glad you like them - thanks for sharing your thoughts!
(Thanks to you I bought Lectrofan Evo which is excellent for my home use.)
*I've just read that soundcore a20 is rather low in volume in sleep mode, is that true?
@@Atomic-Purple-Guy I appreciate the answer! I’m a 4 hour a night max sleeper, so that batter life works for me!
@@nosleeplessnights1 Ok, thanks do you know of any ear buds that would do that?
@@dab4539 None that I've tried that were specifically made for sleep. But many standard earbuds do. The Apple Airpods Pro 2, for example, have amazing noise cancellation with no music being played. But they are quite big and the battery won't last all night. So with normal headphones, it's a case of working out what might fit your needs.
Can you test the ozlo sleep uda and compare them to the soundcore a20?
Yes - I plan on doing that video next.
I currently own the Ozlo's since last August and use them daily.
Thank you for this… looks like a reasonable alternative to my beloved Bose Sleep Buds…
You're welcome. If you decide to try them, let me know how they compare in your opinion. I'm particularly interested in finding out what people think about their effectiveness relative to other headphones despite not having ANC.

Yes, I have reviewed two. The Eight Sleep Pod 3, which you can see here: ua-cam.com/video/3NbvefQNUFY/v-deo.html. The Pod 4 is also out now, but there is still a lot to learn about how they work and feel from my video.
I also discuss the BedJet 3 (an old video now) here: ua-cam.com/video/t6i1j3tw8mQ/v-deo.html
I've been testing the Chilipad Dock Pro recently, and have just started preparing my review. That will probably take a few weeks as it always seems to take me ages to review more complex sleep tech.
If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask and I'll do my best to help.
@@nosleeplessnights1 Thank you. I was lucky: it was very early, something called DCIS, non invasive. I only needed a mastectomy.
@@nosleeplessnights1 I'm wondering about a light/fan combo over the bed.
Is the case wirelessly chargeable, or do you have to plug the case in to charge it?
It needs to be plugged in. If there is a way to charge it wirelessly, it's not in the user manual and I don't know about it:)
Why is the newer A20i model so much cheaper? They are going for $20 on Amazon, yet the older A20 model is getting sold for $120.

@@nosleeplessnights1 Thank you, I think those earplugs not too bad 😅
Can you use the mic of the phone while on call? Because I am aware that it doesn't have a mic. But can you use the mic of the phone as an alternative.😊
If you meant 'can you speak through the phone and listen to the other person through the A20s, I wasn't actually sure, so I just made a call to try.
I put them in Bluetooth mode, with music playing. As soon as I pressed 'call' on my phone, the music stopped and the phone just worked as normal, with no audio coming through the headphones.
So the answer is no.

No problem. I imagine they left out the voice call feature to further reduce the size of the earbuds, since comfort during sleep was the main priority, not everyday use.
I can't seem to get my touch controls to work. Any advice?
Have you played around with all the settings in the app to test them? Are you double tapping quite quickly? If you tap slowly, they don't work well for me.
You could also try a factory reset. Here are the instructions on their website:
"Place the earbuds in the charging case and leave the case open.
@@nosleeplessnights1 Thank you for your informative reply! Wishing you all the best!
Have you experienced any latency issues when watching UA-cam on your phone? Somebody on the Amazon reviews mentioned this being an issue with them. Great review btw. 👍
Thanks! I haven't tried them with UA-cam. What device do you use? If I have a similar one, I'll give it a go and let you know.
If I have a similar one, and you have any specific settings, I can test the latency and let you know:-)
Oh. 😊 I have an iPhone 13 Pro. Using WiFi.
Can you use your normal phone alarm or do you need to use the alarm in the app with your earphones?
You can, but the normal phone alarm will sound simultaneously through both the phone speakers and the headphones. App alarm will only sound through the headphones.
So, I just tested the different options again to be sure as I don't use them all.
There are basically 3 main alarm options, depending on the mode you have the A20s set to.
1. Use the in-app alarm on sleep mode, which is a limited selection of tones. The tone will only play through the A20s
No problem. I thought as much, which is why I wanted to check before replying:-)
There is no easy way to prevent the sound from coming from your phone, but it's by design in case they fall out.
So if no ANC why not just use 1$ ear plugs for sleeping?
If you only ever want quiet, then sure, use earplugs.
They can't play audio 😂
Thinking of getting JBL Tune Buds or Baseus Bowie MA10.
Let me know if either of them are any good for sleep!
@nosleeplessnights1 I am the one who snores like a 747. Will ask my wife her opinion.
Looking good. Might give them a chance.
Let me know what you think of them if you do - it's always good to get other people's opinions.
awesome channel and review. hearing your thoughts and comparison to the ozlo would be huuge 🙏 thank you
Thanks for your kind words - I really appreciate it.
I have the Ozlo firmly on my radar to try out. Whether it's soon or when they are generally available to buy is the question I'm still unsure about.
When I do, I'm sure I'll want to discuss how they compare.
Will this help with thudding noise from upstairs neighbor?
That's an impossible question for me to answer because I don't know how loud it is, how your hearing is, and what settings on the A20 you would happily tolerate.
So the only answer I can give is unfortunately a vague 'maybe'. But I suspect if it's very loud banging, you'd need the volume turned up quite high to mask it, with an intense mix of white/pink/brown noise tracks. I would test how much you can tolerate that with normal headphones and pink or brown noise from a service like UA-cam or Spotify before buying the A20.
@ thank you for your suggestion. I appreciate it.
No problem
Can we wear in daytime
Yes, if you want to.
Thanks for the review
You're very welcome!
how loud do these go compared to an airpod pro.
@@nosleeplessnights1 on my back its fine, and sound is pretty good
That's good to know - thanks!
I have these and find them more comfortable than most others. However, I am a side sleeper, and after about an hour or two, I wake up with discomfort and have to remove them. Don't think I have small ears, and the issue is actually being a side sleeper
I use foam eartips
Can we use this for talking call?
No, it doesn't have a microphone.
Which earphone is from nothing there naming is confusing
I'm not sure I understand your question?
@nosleeplessnights1 can you provide product link of nothing earphone mentioned in your comparison
Which one? There isn't one called 'nothing'.

'Nothing in ear' doesn't refer to headphones or earplugs. I mean when you are not using headphones or earplugs, and therefore there is nothing at all in your ear. It gets 10/10 because it is just your body. Sorry for the confusion.
