I enjoy your videos. How much do you charge to convert an R Tronic transmission to a manual?

I have a 2008 R8 V8 with the R-tronic and I have an issue with my gearbox. When I shift from 2nd to 3rd in manual mode, I hear a clunking noise from the gearbox. Its almost every time if I shift in low rpms (2000-3000) but when I shift at higher rpms, the clunking noise almost disappears. Whats your experience on noises from the gearbox?

As a Gated R8 owner it’s a sad day but totally get it man, spread your wings and dip your toe in to a different car…. Just be careful it’s a slippery slope :) it’s a disease that can only be cured with more money and more garage space!

Hello, amazing series mate and you have inspired me to do it too, I have all the parts but I was wondering what did you do with the kick down on the accelerator pedal? Did you replace the pedal or can the click be removed some how?

this issue has happened to me 3 times in 5 years. super annoying when it happens. Im having an aluminum replacement tank developed for our cars in the next few months that will be miles better than the oem one

An aftermarket unit with the enfig kit makes better use of the rear backup camera and amplifier. Sound quality is better and rear camera image is more useable than the factory unit. And you get a higher resolution touchscreen. You do need to purchase extra hardware for satellite radio but with streaming services, it’s pointless unless you really want XM or whatever.

Dang...that sucks that it happened on a cruise. Glad it wasn't in the middle of traffic on a busy road. Glad you're okay as well and nothing catastrophic happened. This issue has been on my mind lately. I have a 2014 V8 Spyder with close to 35K miles. Should I just go ahead and replace it now, or it's just one of those items that once it goes, that's when you replace it (Somewhat like the AC compressor)?

Quick question, I am looking to do this conversion soon myself, and just trying to get a baseline understanding of how these transmissions work. I have been getting some conflicting answers online. So the rtronic already has the same clutch a manual does, and this does not need to be swapped? So if the clutch is slipping already and starting to go in the rtronic and then you convert it to manual, it'd be pretty safe to assume the clutch will be on its way out and need replacing soon. and or it wouldn't be very wise to pick up an r8 with auto trans issues, just because you are converting it to manual doesn't mean it will fix the issues internally unless you were to remove the trans completely and do a full rebuild? Thanks for your time, sorry if these seem like pretty dumb obvious questions, trying to start somewhere and seem to be finding conflicting info haha, thanks!

Great video , good to see the R8 oil change demystified 👍 I noticed that you have a sound deadening cover between the sump and the transmission. was that something you put in or was it there when you purchased the car? I’ve just acquired a 2008 and noticing a lot of noise, clicking, tapping and Gurgling coming from that area, and mine hasn’t got the sound pad installed.. I was shocked to find out Audi charges 1200. For the part..😮

Any symptoms that will tell that the shift cables are out of adjustment? 30k miles in my v10 and I’ve never done it. Shifts smooth as butter anyways so It never occurred to me till I came across your video
