wrenching on an R8...good stuff.
That wrench life 🦾
Love the upgrade... hope to see more R8 content!
Thank you! One good thing owning an old R8: bunch of stuff to maintain and upgrade 😅
Cool upgrade. I kinda like the "old school" look/feel of the Gen 1, but if I ever did a Gen 2 steering wheel swap, I think I'd have it custom with carbon fiber and perforated leather wheel rim and the rev counter lights while I'm at it.
I dunno though. There's something about an physical key and starting the car the old fashioned way. It's more analog and organic. That's why we buy the Gen 1, right? Gated manual. A proper handbrake lever. Hydraulic steering. Naturally aspirated engine.
Different strokes for different folks!
Definitely agree that everyone has their own preferences and style. Though I have to admit, I thought that I would continue to crank the engine w/ the physical key, but I've actually ended up just using the start button every time now. >_
Shame you don’t live in the UK 😂..well done
Haha, would love to visit the UK in my lifetime!
I’m going to be doing this exact install next week. You mentioned that you had a link to removing the centre console. Would you mind sharing as I’ll be wiring up the sport button.
Here you go and good luck with the install Ross! ua-cam.com/video/ZhuYrl4Wa8M/v-deo.html
Great video! Was wondering if it would work on a B8.5 S5 steering wheel as well. I got an upgraded wheel with the Start/Stop on the wheel as well and was looking for a way to wire it.
It may work. I would message Ambrace to confirm.
Any cluster upgrade coming? the red in the center is very old school audi and id love to retrofit an overlay, or a gen 2 cluster!
Actually I’ve seen that cluster upgrade on another car and it looks very nice!
I will do this on my R8. Where did you buy the Airbag and buttons..?
You can get them at the dealer or a 3rd party supplier that can get you the OEM parts.
Curious to know how the start/stop work. Do you still get to turn it on from the key? I know you have the button but im curious if it keeps that functionality just in case there becomes an issue with the wheel
The turn key ignition still works, so you can use start/stop button or turn the key.
I would like to do this on my Audi r8 too, I bought the button, but the installers are not succeeding :( I'm in Brazil :(
Be sure the installers are seeing a blue light to the Ambrace kit when wiring everything up.
Can this kit be sent to Brazil?
@@dono_danet Yes, Ambrace sends out kits internationally from Europe.
How much does the ambrace kit cost?
It was almost $500 USD when I bought it
