Welcome to the channel! My name is Brody Taylor and I have been working with tennis equipment here in the United States for over 6 years.
There is a lot of misinformation today about what tennis shoes, racquets, and strings actually do and that I can’t stand. My goal is to educate you on the truth about all the tennis equipment you see today.
If you ever have any questions or just need help, leave a comment so I know who you are and how I can help!

If you’re new to my channel, my name is Brody Taylor. I am a current Master Racquet Technician here in the United States and have been working with tennis equipment and gear for the past 7+ years. Now because this is the internet and most people lie about what they have done, here’s my track record you can check if you really want to.
How I got here….
12 years old: Played tennis for the first time not knowing anything.
14 years old: Started taking tennis a little bit more seriously after not doing anything with it for a year or so. I started playing with my high school’s tennis team after school.
15 years old: Became a freshman in high school and played my first official tennis season on junior varsity and got my first actual racquet besides something that my family bought at Walmart. It was the original Wilson Ultra 100.
16 years old: Sophomore year of high school and my second tennis season. Started on JV and moved up to Varsity 2 Singles half-way through the season. Racquet at this point- Wilson Blade 98S V6. I also started working at the tennis retail store that I currently still work at. Received my varsity letter and most improved player award.
17: years old: Junior year. I stay at 2 singles the entire year and really start testing out different racquets and strings. This was the year our team won sectionals. Now I’ve switched to a Tecnifibre TFight 305 I believe it was.
18 years old: Senior season. Bounced all around the line up and ended at 3 singles to give our team the best chance to win sectionals. While that didn’t happen, I won my conference championship at 3 singles and was the only on my team to win theirs. Played with the original Clash 100 Pro. At the end of year banquet- I received the award for leadership and coaching since I had started to help coach the younger players on the team during practices rather than being in drills. Then the world shuts down since it was 2020.
19 years old: I start college fully online and begin to work full time at the tennis store after they reopen from their initial shut down.
20 years old: Finish college while being President of the Student Government, working full time, and give the commencement speech for my graduation class. Help coach a Wilson tennis camp over the summer at Miami University. I then became certified as a Professional Racquet Advisor (PRA) here in the US. Also begin to learn how to string but it is only here and there.
21 years old: Cutback from the tennis store since I had been there since I was in high school and try something else. I still kept tabs on tennis and new stuff that was coming out though. I couldn’t stay away. I also helped with another Wilson tennis camp at Miami university.
22 years old: Start this UA-cam channel and get back into the tennis store full time. Start doing demo days at local tennis clubs and giving recommendations on racquets, shoes, and strings on the road.
23 years old: Here’s where we currently are. Passed my Master Racquet Technician test to become one of 560 in the world to have this certification. Working full time at the tennis store with this channel on the side and meeting with the major racquet and shoe manufacturers to be kept up to date on what is new with current technologies and products.
So yeah, that’s how I got here. If you have read this far, I hope you enjoyed this behind the scenes look into my life. Tennis has become a big part of my life and after working in the retail store for so long I know that there is a lot of misinformation in the tennis community.
That’s why this channel is here. So we can get rid of the misinformation and get the knowledge from the people who have it to the people who need it.
Thank you for being here and hopefully we will get to play tennis together sometime.
Take Care,
Brody

What type of racket is the Yonex Vcore?
Great clip as always 👌 tried the new tour today. Really missed the feel of the last gen grav pro. Not sure if I'll switch 🤷
I switched from the Vcore Pro 97 to the Ezone 98 last year and definitely try it out. Somehow very stable on the OHBH and allows you to work with serve and FH around the whole court very offensively. Pro player example Daniel Altmaier.
I have tried the Gel Resolution X. I would just caution everyone when going half size down. Yes it’s roomier compared to Gel Res 9s however if they have a wide foot like mine maybe they should try a true to size shoe because of how rigid and stiff the dynawalls are on the lateral sides. After 2 hours of play they might feel soreness on the lateral longitudinal arch (if they normally put most of their weight on the sides like me). Also i would advise people to use thicker socks because of heel slippage regardless of lacing modifications or thicker socks you will still feel some heel slippage due to the higher medial wall. Although, it felt weird at the beginning; I hardly noticed it during my plays. Lastly, it takes some breaking in it’s a true stability shoe so if you’re looking for one to prevent rolling your ankles. This is good. But as for comfort that’s up to you because it feels stiff on my experience. But yeah great stability shoe if you ask me. I think it’s also has very durable outsole.
Is it comfortable on the court?
@@bournejason66 unfortunately i can only speak for myself. You have to try it for yourself because every feet is different and every play style is different. For me out of the box i felt the rigid and stiff part on the lateral sides. And i knew if i played more than 2 hours i would feel some soreness. Which is why i suggest wearing thicker socks or socks that has cushion to relieve that pressure. Like the Thorlo socks. It has paddings enough for me to feel cushioned. And again Gel X has a bit more room compared to Gel 9. And the thicker socks help fill those extra spaces. So if comfort is what you’re looking for it’s similar padding on Gel 9 it’s just stiff on the lateral sides for me because of that higher dynawall that they changed. Also, it took me 15 hours of play to break this shoes in. So if you think about it this is probably a good thing if you are looking for a stability shoes. You don’t want shoes that easily break in cuz if they break in fast then they would break down or worn out fast.
@@uge2616 thanks. That’s a great insight.
I have very narrow feet PUMA fit really well I just don't like the style or comfort.
Is this statement about "old" strings based on opinion or on factual data? 1) Strings nowadays are made of different plastic, not organic material, so why should they go old after a few years? 2) there are no expiration date on reels or sets of string 3) that package/set in the video probably can't be regarded as air proof
i liked Triax but it broke after 3 weeks of playing (less than 20hrs hitting in total) #facepalm. Now going Luxilon 4G soft (46lbs ) main + Tecnifibre Multifeel (52lbs) cross on Vcore 98 2023. Feels good atm but will see how long it lasts.
It was full bed Triax, 56 main 50 cross btw.
Prince ats tour 100 P 305 user... Great frame.. no dampener needed.🇦🇺
Spent the whole day searching for good, practical and complete information. Don’t need to search anymore. Thanks a lot.
Hi, I have a question about racket stiffness. I always thought racket stiffness is almost exactly the same for the same given racket model. But now I am quite perplexed because when I checked Babolat sites there is stiffness with tolerance +-3 which could result in two completely different rackets. 65 RA could be a racket that is in reality soft 62 RA or a racket that is quite stiff 68 RA. The difference in comfort, power and control might be enormous... Is tolerance in stiffness something typical just for Babolat or is this a common issue with all rackets? It seems like even if you test a racket it is still a lottery what you get.
Little advice for demoing a racquet after learning the hard way: Some are strung like crap. Or the strings are way beyond their shelf life.
Synthetic gut ??
Tennis shoes, sneakers always makes my foot hurts or there's always something not comfortable. I always buy wide but still seems to be always something bothers my foot. I already spend almost a 1000 dollar on expensive shoes. But thank God I tried Lined Clogs Crocs. I put more ensole and it was perfectly comfortable . This is my 1st winter wearing crocs and love it.
Minor correction... The Gravity Tour did exist before the new 98 version. It was a lighter version of the Pro but had limited distribution.
Thank you for calling me out on that! I had forgot about the original Tour when they first released the Gravity’s. It had been so long since I had seen one that I forgot it existed 😂
Hello! What you think about tecnifibre triax? Is it more on control, stiffer side and holds tension for a long time?
Aye maybe you can help, I switched strings to multi but I def can still feel like my tennis elbow coming back especially with my serve being better now. I think I might need to switch my racket but don’t know what to focus on. I’m currently using a Head TI-S5(I know it’s old but it was in almost new condition when I bought it)
Whats up Brody, love the videos, accept my skool member request? Im currently in Indianapolis visiting family and im leaving to drive back to charlotte soon, ill pass by harrison if you want to play today? 4.75 player -simon
Hey Simon! I’m sorry I didn’t see this message until I got home from work. I accepted the membership request and next time you are visiting your family in Indi we will definitely have to get on court with each other!
RIP Control 16G is great IMO for a player who doesn't break strings. I string Velocity for the old people and beginners.
Interesting! What are the biggest benefits that you have found with Rip Control?
@@brodytaylor2020 It's the deadest multi and has more spin than average multi
I play x one 18 gauge. Doesnt break on me but I prefer a poly 19 since at that gauge it’s pretty soft especially in hyper g. X one is best as 17g in a 18x20 or. 16 in a 16x19. Triax is pretty good too.
Thanks for sharing! Do you use the same tension even when you change gauges or no?
I don't need 8 min to go thru just the racquet specs and company line, which I could have read in 20 seconds. How does the racquet play? compared to V1? compared to other popular racquets? Does it do anything well? bad? What level and type of player would this be particularly good/bad for? Would you switch to it? why not?
Triax bests them all.
Thanks Brody! Is there any level of snapback with multifilament?
@icefalcon2243 on Triax yes, not on most.
From my experience you get some snapback when it’s fresh. After 1 hour or 2 the strings will begin to be out of place.
Like has been said in the other comments there is a little level of snapback for a multifilament but not a lot
Velocity has good snapback while the coating lasts. X-One Bi-Phase has better snapback that lasts almost until it breaks.
It didn't feel stiff compared to new tfights that are also foam filled.
Hey quick question if you can help, what is the best string to combine with Babolat VS Touch, i look for more power in shots
When mentioning jannik sinner, you missed one huge point... He uses 💉💊.
What in your opinion is the MOST POWERFUL multi (if I don't care about durability)? What about the most powerful SLIPPERY string? Does such a thing exist?
1HBH’s relationship with topspin is interesting. It definitely is harder to hit high topspin with it, but I would argue you can get more topspin with the one hander which can really help with angles
I have had two Burn ULS V2.0 many years. When it first came out I already had Babolat rather newly purchased. After three years I went back to Burn which I tested earlier. In 2018 I decided to purchased two of Burn 100 ULS version 2.0, with the weight of 260g. It was very good at volley, topspin ground strokes, overhead etc. by the time I couldn’t get grip nr.00, was only nr 1 available. Today I have purchased once again 3 racquets of Burn 100 LS 280g with grip nr. 00!! Thank you for the small grip that I could eventually power play once again!! I have them for a month now. It is very good for every thing and plus even precision shots and more power! I just love them. Thank you Wilson I still can enjoy with my Tennis Sport for more years to come. I just had my 71th Birthday.
Mpl- 9.8 oz is 277 g , not 260 g Team - 9.4 oz is 266 g
Thank you for the correction! I’m still working on getting better at converting grams and ounces
"The Gravity Tour never existed before!" ... Brody Taylor, 2025.
😁
As a player in the senior citizen league, the flexibility rating (RA) is a very important spec. Why does it rarely get talked about? It's not an advanced topic.
I think that it rarely gets talked about since some players, especially beginners, are bombarded with so much information when they first get into tennis that throwing in RA might be a little much for them. It is a very important metric when making sure that someone has less chance of gaining tennis elbow. The new person also needs to see if they even like the sport first, before getting that far into racquets from what I have seen
If you are a topspin tennis player, should you have lead tape on the throat of the tennis racket?
Do you think it matters a lot between the latest and earlier versions of a tennis racquet? This in particular has been quite on sale where I live
With this new version yes. This racquet version with the Auxetic 2.0 does make the racquet have a different feel compared to older versions of it which should be taken into consideration. Before this new version though, the Gravity changes overall had just been different paint colors from my experience
Great content. I love your channel. Don't change a thing.
I think people call this "analysis paralysis".
To choose the right string set up. Do you recommend to start changing the gauge or the tension ?
What is the difference between Thicker string with low tension vs Thinner string with high tension ?
but if you got a high ra raquet that trasmits more vibration becouse the raquet itself does not take it , reducin vibration of the string will make less vibration conduct into the raquet wich will lead to less vibration getting to you handle at least on high ra raquet or using aluminum you can fill it the dampener make the handle resive less vibration.
I'm leaning towards an Aero 98, but someone gave me a Whiteout 305 V1 to demo. I liked it more than I thought I would. In your opinion, how does the V2 compare to the Aero 98?
Where can I buy a stringer like yours and how much would it be?
I originally got mine from Midwest Sports but it looks like they don’t sell the specific model like mine anymore. I would say the best place to check would be Gamma who made the machine. I think price wise it was around $1,000 or $1,100 because it had the machine, strings, and all the tools needed to string a racquet besides a starting clamp which isn’t technically needed with this type of machine
I have nade over $5000 selling used tennis balls over the last 20 years
Is the Blade v9 100 arm friendly for people suffering tennis elbow?
You shouldn’t consider them because of durability
Best looking pj of the 2025 sticks released to date imo. Any Pro's playing with this stick that you're aware of? Thx for the post.
this video was so encouraging, thank you. we need more positivity and encouragement out there
Just and old pair of regular ones
Unless you play several times a week I would go for 100. No shame with playing with a bigger racket. Agassi didnt care and became the the second best player of the 90s thanks to his racket with oversized head. One just needs to choose carefully not to pick something too demanding. 100 sq with high swingweight and thicker beam might be a nightmare.
This shoes or K swiss hypercourt suprême 2?
played with a black max dunlop 360 gram racket and people say they cant handle 330gs lol, come on. Grow some muscle, 330 is the sweet spot baby
Back in high school, I got my racket strung up with Kevlar for durability, but it was in a hybrid with some synthetic gut haha in the end it didn't last much longer because the synthetic gut would always break first, but I guess it didn't give me arm issues either, so nothing lost nothing gained
Great review!
