If you’re new to my channel, my name is Brody Taylor. I am a current Master Racquet Technician here in the United States and have been working with tennis equipment and gear for the past 7+ years. Now because this is the internet and most people lie about what they have done, here’s my track record you can check if you really want to.
How I got here….
12 years old: Played tennis for the first time not knowing anything.
14 years old: Started taking tennis a little bit more seriously after not doing anything with it for a year or so. I started playing with my high school’s tennis team after school.
15 years old: Became a freshman in high school and played my first official tennis season on junior varsity and got my first actual racquet besides something that my family bought at Walmart. It was the original Wilson Ultra 100.
16 years old: Sophomore year of high school and my second tennis season. Started on JV and moved up to Varsity 2 Singles half-way through the season. Racquet at this point- Wilson Blade 98S V6. I also started working at the tennis retail store that I currently still work at. Received my varsity letter and most improved player award.
17: years old: Junior year. I stay at 2 singles the entire year and really start testing out different racquets and strings. This was the year our team won sectionals. Now I’ve switched to a Tecnifibre TFight 305 I believe it was.
18 years old: Senior season. Bounced all around the line up and ended at 3 singles to give our team the best chance to win sectionals. While that didn’t happen, I won my conference championship at 3 singles and was the only on my team to win theirs. Played with the original Clash 100 Pro. At the end of year banquet- I received the award for leadership and coaching since I had started to help coach the younger players on the team during practices rather than being in drills. Then the world shuts down since it was 2020.
19 years old: I start college fully online and begin to work full time at the tennis store after they reopen from their initial shut down.
20 years old: Finish college while being President of the Student Government, working full time, and give the commencement speech for my graduation class. Help coach a Wilson tennis camp over the summer at Miami University. I then became certified as a Professional Racquet Advisor (PRA) here in the US. Also begin to learn how to string but it is only here and there.
21 years old: Cutback from the tennis store since I had been there since I was in high school and try something else. I still kept tabs on tennis and new stuff that was coming out though. I couldn’t stay away. I also helped with another Wilson tennis camp at Miami university.
22 years old: Start this UA-cam channel and get back into the tennis store full time. Start doing demo days at local tennis clubs and giving recommendations on racquets, shoes, and strings on the road.
23 years old: Here’s where we currently are. Passed my Master Racquet Technician test to become one of 560 in the world to have this certification. Working full time at the tennis store with this channel on the side and meeting with the major racquet and shoe manufacturers to be kept up to date on what is new with current technologies and products.
So yeah, that’s how I got here. If you have read this far, I hope you enjoyed this behind the scenes look into my life. Tennis has become a big part of my life and after working in the retail store for so long I know that there is a lot of misinformation in the tennis community.
That’s why this channel is here. So we can get rid of the misinformation and get the knowledge from the people who have it to the people who need it.
Thank you for being here and hopefully we will get to play tennis together sometime.
Take Care,
Brody

I use the Toraline strings, right now I am using Restring 0 on the mains and Enzo pro by Toraline on the crosses. 16Ga on both having good success with having spin and power as well as a good launch on the ball. The strings maintain for a long time with good snapback, they are also a lot cheaper than RPM blast which I used to use.
There’s a bunch of softish shaped polys like Torolines: Wasabi, Toro(s), Snapper, Hyper G Soft, Lux Smart, Lux Adrenaline (+Soft) etc. While there’s a ton of really stiff round polys too: Lux 4G that you mentioned, Signum Pro, Lux ALU, Lux Big Banger, RS Lyon… Always check stiffness in TW University database especially if you have sensitive wrists, elbows and shoulders. And use lower tensions. Most popular strings also have Soft and Rough (textured) versions of them which are always softer, more powerful/spiny but provide less tension maintenance and durability. I’ve been a stringer for 20+ years ;)
Square are the best. They bite into the ball and slide without notching.
What about hybrid setups (next video idea maybe?) My invention is polis in the main at 22 kg and multifilaments in the crosses at 26-28 kg, to achieve extreme snapback. When you blast a ball full power there's no feeling like it, sadly I only tested it in a 330g racket (Vcore Pro 97H) and tried it on a Blade but didn't have multis so I used synthetic gut, which didn't work because polis wouldn't glide on them.
Try Babolat RPM Soft, surface of the string is failry slick and it's less prone to getting ripped to shreds by shaped polys in hybrid setups.
Wolfy has been experimenting with poly/poly hybrid setups for the past six months, using shaped polys for mains and round (smooth) polys for crosses. Swinging an ultra stiff 100 sq. in. frame, Dunlop FX 500 2020 model (RA 71), reducing tension has produced incredible results. Favourite setup pairs ReString Zero 17 with Genesis NEW 18 at 38 and 40 lbs, respectively. Topspin generated by this combination is MASSIVE. Another favourite pairing is Hexa Infinite 17 and NEW 18 for a little more power, albeit a little less (but still incredible) topspin.
I watched a podcast with a Pro stringer and he mentioned the misconception about shaped strings giving more spin which surprised me…He said basically shaped strings don’t move as much or as easily so whilst it feels like you’re getting more spin because of the friction feel, it’s actually only true and of benefit if you’re a strong enough hitter to distort the strings and get them to move…Ultimately his point I think was for your average recreational lower level player, they’ll probably get more spin out of round strings. I use Lynx Tour(Hexagonal 6 side) and just tried Restring ZERO for the first time and it’s really good so I could be switching as the ball pocketing feel was unreal
Restring 0 has a slick coating on it that makes the strings move and snap back better as long as you do not string super tight.
I used Head Lynx tour before it's a great string but loses its tension maintenance too quickly. The best color in that string is the Champaign color stay away from the Red or Black
@@julianmansell2379 yeh I’ve since experimented more with Restring Zero and it only felt good
@@julianmansell2379 I actually liked the black but probably did like the champagne better as it felt softer on the arm
@@TheTennisDaddy really 👍
I find round polys more predictable, launch angle etc...
WHICH ONE DO U PREFER ROUNG OR SHAPED
Hey Brody any chance you could make a racket customisation video. I have the speed Mp 2022 and I’m trying to add lead to make it more stable but I just can’t get it right. Whenever I put some on it feels like maneuverability just becomes too sluggish
Hyper-G soft it is
