  • If you’re new to my channel, my name is Brody Taylor. I am a current Master Racquet Technician here in the United States and have been working with tennis equipment and gear for the past 7+ years. Now because this is the internet and most people lie about what they have done, here’s my track record you can check if you really want to.
    How I got here….
12 years old: Played tennis for the first time not knowing anything.
14 years old: Started taking tennis a little bit more seriously after not doing anything with it for a year or so. I started playing with my high school’s tennis team after school.
15 years old: Became a freshman in high school and played my first official tennis season on junior varsity and got my first actual racquet besides something that my family bought at Walmart. It was the original Wilson Ultra 100.
16 years old: Sophomore year of high school and my second tennis season. Started on JV and moved up to Varsity 2 Singles half-way through the season. Racquet at this point- Wilson Blade 98S V6. I also started working at the tennis retail store that I currently still work at. Received my varsity letter and most improved player award.
17: years old: Junior year. I stay at 2 singles the entire year and really start testing out different racquets and strings. This was the year our team won sectionals. Now I’ve switched to a Tecnifibre TFight 305 I believe it was.
18 years old: Senior season. Bounced all around the line up and ended at 3 singles to give our team the best chance to win sectionals. While that didn’t happen, I won my conference championship at 3 singles and was the only on my team to win theirs. Played with the original Clash 100 Pro. At the end of year banquet- I received the award for leadership and coaching since I had started to help coach the younger players on the team during practices rather than being in drills. Then the world shuts down since it was 2020.
19 years old: I start college fully online and begin to work full time at the tennis store after they reopen from their initial shut down.
20 years old: Finish college while being President of the Student Government, working full time, and give the commencement speech for my graduation class. Help coach a Wilson tennis camp over the summer at Miami University. I then became certified as a Professional Racquet Advisor (PRA) here in the US. Also begin to learn how to string but it is only here and there.
21 years old: Cutback from the tennis store since I had been there since I was in high school and try something else. I still kept tabs on tennis and new stuff that was coming out though. I couldn’t stay away. I also helped with another Wilson tennis camp at Miami university.
22 years old: Start this UA-cam channel and get back into the tennis store full time. Start doing demo days at local tennis clubs and giving recommendations on racquets, shoes, and strings on the road.
23 years old: Here’s where we currently are. Passed my Master Racquet Technician test to become one of 560 in the world to have this certification. Working full time at the tennis store with this channel on the side and meeting with the major racquet and shoe manufacturers to be kept up to date on what is new with current technologies and products.
So yeah, that’s how I got here. If you have read this far, I hope you enjoyed this behind the scenes look into my life. Tennis has become a big part of my life and after working in the retail store for so long I know that there is a lot of misinformation in the tennis community.
That’s why this channel is here. So we can get rid of the misinformation and get the knowledge from the people who have it to the people who need it.
Thank you for being here and hopefully we will get to play tennis together sometime.
    Take Care,
    Brody

If you want to buy new balls don't get Wilson. They are done in a couple of hours. Get Head Tour. It is incredible how much longer these balls last, they have like 5x longer life span than Wilson. It makes Wilson look like a scam.

I don't know, mate. I came across your channel recently, and I thought it would be interesting to tap into your domain knowledge.
And I thought this was an intriguing idea for a video.
But, you're reaching a bit too much here.
I mean, who in their right mind would even think of gifting used balls???
And a re-string is just as unlikely a gift, I think... for the reasons you yourself touch upon.
    And No.5 is literally nothing!
The only takeaway from this video is (a) if you're thinking of gifting someone a tennis racquet, make sure you know what they use, and (b) ditto shoes.
Come on, mate! Almost 13 minutes!
I'm rooting for you, and there is a space for quality tennis content based on expertise. But if you waste your viewers' time with nothing burgers like this one, you'll quickly lose them.
    Best wishes.

Sorry but your invension technique isn't working either. If someone plays tennis and you don't know if they already have enough of their rackets or maybe even looking for something different, buying a racket for a tennis player is just the worst thing you can do. Only if you have a player that is totally dailed in with their current racket and they ONLY have 1, you maybe be succesfull buying the same racket for them again. (same racket, same grip) If you deal with a tennis player that likes to collect different rackets, then it is even harder as you will have to find out what they DON'T have yet and what they would like to get and get that specific racket. So Summarize.. buying rackets for a tennisplayer is the worst thing you can do.
Strings, nah, bad idea. just leave that alone. Only if a tennis player who strings themselves has put a specific reel of strings on their wanted list, then you can get them that specific reel.
Shoes, you can actually find out exactly what people are using and getting them the exact shoe is a better bet.
New quality (non budget cosco/ target) pressurized tennis balls, that is always good to give.
Some other ideas that could work or not:
-. Books about tennis, be carefull as most people who play tennis are not into tennis improvement books. There are some great books about tennis science (customization etc), but if someone is interested in that, they probably have the 1 or 2 best books about that already. I got a biography book about federer with also a lot of his stats and nice colour photos. If someone is into that and the player you buy something of is their idol.. Great idea, but you have to know if it is something they like. So not just any ordinary tennis book.
Most tennis players are happy with a nice expensive gift card of their preferred tennis shop. It sounds maybe bad, but a gift card can't go wrong and the player can buy exactly what they need.

Just buy the latest version of their current racket make/model. It should be viable and they will have the motivation to try it.
Ok, now I just need to incept this idea to my wife by complaining my current Head Extreme MP(A) 2015.
