I've been a Paula Deen fan for years. In 2005 my daughter went to Savannah to go to college at SCAD. I was thrilled that I'd finally get to eat at Lady & Sons. We tried to go each time I'd go down to bring her home at the end of each year. It was wonderful!! She even stood in line at the bookstore in one of the malls to get me a signed cookbook. She said both of your boys and Michael were there too. You have so many wonderful recipes: one thing I loved to make was your Nutty Orange Coffee Cake. That was as beautiful to look at as it was to eat!! So glad I found you on UA-cam. Love you Ms Paula!!❤

My family is from Tennessee. My grandmother put a roasting hen in a big pan with salt, pepper and an onion. Put water half way up. Baked for an hour @350. She took broth out and got it cold. She took chicken out of pan and had the broth simmering. She took 5 cups flour and cold chicken broth, salt, pepper and made her dough. Rolled put in pot with lid on 20 minutes and off 20 minutes. Chicken on the side...yummy!

My Gran made me chicken and dumplings my whole life. When I first started watching you Paula it was because if I closed my eyes I could swear my gran was talking to me. Now, that pan of chicken on the counter had me praying that it wouldn't drop on the floor! I think these videos are THE BEST because they are so organic and natural--not staged! One more thing--where was the fresh garlic and bay leaves? (I would have put them in). And yes, yes, yes to the butter in the stock!

I have anted to learn how my mom and grandma made it but she was too young at the time, and then when I got older I didn’t care to learn. Now I’m a grandpa myself and learned how to make the best chicken and dumplings from Ms Paula Deen. Have been making them like this for years and there is never an empty chair at the table. You go girl.
My family and I are leaving tomorrow for pigeon forge and will be there through Friday. We will be there for thanksgiving, and Paula Deen family kitchen is definitely on our list. Happy Thanksgiving, y’all!

You helped us through a lot of tough times too. My middle son is 18 & your stories you shared when your boys were on the show about not having money for a Christmas tree and things like that; (teary eyed) you just really helped us know we weren't alone & it wouldn't be like this forever. Anyway. We love you Paula. Kiss those boys & that hubby for me lol cause yea they feel like family too. 🥰🤗😘💕💋

My family uses grands butter biscuits. We fight over the dumplings. It's my signature go to. We're from Charleston SC. We cook a pot of rice and then decide what we're going to make with it! Always serve this over rice. I use your recipe for grandma Paula 's sour cream pound cake. Love your show sweet Southern lady👸of Savanah!
My Mama Rosie made dumplings from flour, salt, pepper and ice water, too. Rolled out on a floured sheet that she kept for pastry, too. Very, very similar to how you say your grandmother made them. Everyone loved Mama Rosie's chicken and dumplings, but me especially. Course, everything she made, from a many layered chocolate cake with ultra thin layers cooked in cast iron skillets, was perfect Southern farm cooking. Miss her so much.

One of my favorite comfort foods that I don’t get to eat as often as I would like. You have made it look so easy and fun, just the way it should be done. Thank you for sharing your love of food and recipes!!!
I watched my grandmother do this many times when I was a child. She cooked the chicken the same way. Back then we had no soup or flavorings to add other than salt and pepper. She boned the chicken but often a bone or two remained. Grandmother rolled out her dumplings and cut into long strips. She then draped the strips over her arm and pinched them off into the pot of boiling liquid stiring constantly. This is a wonderful recipe that bring back memories.
I’ve been waiting for this one! Thank you so much for doing this, Paula! Please don’t ever stop doing these videos. They have brought so much joy to me and great recipes to my family! 🙌♥️
Oh Honey, after seeing this, I'm putting my purse on and going out to the store for the ingredients because I have got to have some NOW. Thanks so much Love.
I want to thank you so much for showing me the old way of making dumplings. This is how my mother made them. I used biscuick. But her we're better. I didn't pay close enough attention when she was making them. You showed me exactly how she did it. My mother was a wonderful cook. Everyone loved her food. She made a lot of things like you do. I remember standing on a stool and her teaching me to roll biscuits. I must have been about 4 years old. I lost my mother almost 2 years ago. Alzheimer's took her too soon. I miss her cooking so much. Something she made for me that I loved was her meatloaf. It wasn't fancy but for the life of me I can't get it right. She used oats to "stretch it". It was always moist with onion and green pepper. Of course ketchup was on top. Can you show me how to make a good basic meatloaf. She didn't use bacon. She was raised during the depression & being the oldest girl out of 12, she always cooked for an army. Thank you for this. I want you to know how much I have enjoyed your videos. They have really helped get me through this difficult time. Do you have a PO box for mail? Thank you again.

My Gran made me chicken and dumplings my whole life. When I first started watching you Paula it was because if I closed my eyes I could swear my gran was talking to me. She has be gone 3 years now but tonight we are having dumplings. I remember when she found the frozen dumplings at the store also. She was so excited because she to used the ice water to make hers. She said they were "sorry" dumplings but used them anyways. I miss her so much. Thank you for for your southern hospitality it brings her back to me every time

Her copper pots are EVERYTHING! I am and always have been in love with that kitchen! I miss the soap stone counter tops. I even got some in my own kitchen!

Hello 👋
How’re you and your wonderful family doing?

Hello 👋
How’re you and your wonderful family doing?
Yeah and I love how she showed store bought thin dumplings! They’re good and cuts down on cooking time. Love her stock and chicken!
