In NYC we also have to take a 40 question exam. I downloaded and printed the 17 page Notary Public License Law book for free, and the actual exam is $15. Out of the 40 questions, you're only allowed to get 7 wrong in order to pass. I received my results (either pass or fail) in the mail one week later, and then had to fill out my Notary application and get it notarized. Then you're required to mail in a $60 with the application, and it took about 4 weeks for my Notary commission to arrive in the mail. Thanks for sharing your Notary and Loan Signing experience with us. 🌹

It seems like to me this is doable but the up front costs to get into the game are actually pretty steep for many because they need a $1k vs forking out $1k. I think the way you would have to approach this business is with the extreme most minimal amounts you can until money is in your pocket. 1-2 rack of paper, no need to buy extra ink until you literally run out to justify, and get your official documentation from the state to get going. Also if you already have a printer, use that instead of buying a fancy better one that makes life easier since again, this is a start up. I know people say get x, y, and z but I'm thinking extremely pragmatic here.
In Texas, on the state website, they don’t give you an option to email your application so I ended up following the steps of this other girl that’s also in Texas, and she at least paid for her bond and application fee through the NNA because the NA will give you an email address That they will send your application to. But if you just go to the state website for Texas, you can download the form sure that’s easy to do… But you end up thinking that you can only mail it in and of course that takes longer But what I did not do is go through one of these notary signing companies that want to charge you this extra fee ! I looked up the average income for this work in Nevada (Las vegas) and was finding some really average yearly income rates. Not even 100k .. can you go into detail as to why you make so much? what you do differently.. is it possible to do this in other Las Vegas?
when you google our income it varies drastically. Everyone in this business works for themselves so you're not going to find an accurate income on google. I was making 10k the beginning of this year. Last few months it's been about 6k bc I've been taking vacations. It's up to how hard you want to work. I've heard of notaries in Las Vegas making good money! Exactly. I made this within my first 2 weeks. It's a great investment. Wow, that's a lot!
@thomasina, i’m in PA too. When you say it’s tough, what are you referring to? The process to get started on becoming a NSA or the available work in the area?
When you went through the NNA did you purchase the NNA membership? Or should I ask which plan you purchased?
I did not get the NNA membership bc I've been a notary for 6 yrs now. If you're a new notary I might recommend it for you.
Helpful!!! Thank you! 😊
no problem 😉
Great info!
If you do direct Signing you don't need a printer They print all docs. for you, unless you choose to have docs. emailed to you, saving a trip to their office
that's what I heard, but because of covid i'm not sure if that's really an option anymore.
Thank you so much for your videos :))
I have a question regarding tax. Do you provide a W-9 form to each client with a business EIN or do you use your SSN? I want to use my business EIN instead of an SSN when I receive a 1099 NEC.
EIN
The employers social is only used when they file their personal taxes not the company’s
EIN
I'm trying to apply for RON and it's asking to upload my Exemplar what does that mean?
Do you have an LLC? I am just starting out and am curios about all of this.
I feel like I’m missing a step. When I go on the secretary of State’s office website, it doesn’t say anything about an exam?? Just an application form. ? 😞
Some states dont require a test. Check online to see if yours does.
So is mark wills course to actually prepare you for the notary signing course or would I take another class for CA?
His class does not prepare you to be a notary. it only prepares you to be a loan signing agent. you need to take a certified notary course from CA to become a notary. then you can take his course to learn about loans.
Hi Amanda, which loan signing course do you recommend from Mark’s class?
the basic one does the job :)
I recommend the six figure one if you really are dedicated to loan signing.
Thank You so much for the really good information. I wish you would delete the annoying music. It was very distracting. I hate jazz.

Which loan signing course did you take?
Thanks for the info 😁. I was just wondering, on average, how much does it usually cost to print out the paper work for each appointment?
Cost varies depending on the price of your supplies. If you can get toner for $25-$35 you’re looking at great price margins.
Especially because the housing market there is only increasing.
Is that 10k/ 6k a month?
I have a question, when you do your background check is it something you just say you completed or is it uploaded somewhere so that escrow officers can check out or something?
its needed to get your notary commission through your state.
After you become a SLA where do you recommend we go to get work?
How long did it take for your commission to be sent to you with covid and all?
I took mine Jan 16 so hopefully i get it soon 😩 my next step is marks LSS 🤗
Did you finally get your commission? I took my test April 15 and my application is still not processed in California. They are on March 30th
Another good one🙂 #markthefloridarealtor
What’s the Pay seems like a lot of leg work
Do you really need 2 trays, does it really save you that much time?
No, I still don't have two trays. It saves maybe 5 mins. I learned to live without it by using Notary Rotary page separator. You can just google that.
Amanda which course did you use and secondly if you stick with the text messages how many times a day can they text you for a job
Hi, I took the Loan Signing System with Mark Wills. I get so many texts a day it's hard to keep track
@@amandapluma but there's so many different courses out there which one is the best I was thinking of the NNA how much was Mark scorse and how long is the course because the nna is not long at all and I think it might be even free or low-cost or something and they too send texts they told me how many different courses are there besides marks the nna is there others so I can evaluate which one to get
@@shawbrothersgirl2740 I took the NNA one and I wasn't a big fan of that one. it is cheaper though. The other course you'll have to do research on that. I paid I think $130-$180 for marks course. It definitely pays off in a couple of signings though.
Hi Amanda! Thank you so much for your videos, they are amazing. To tag along to this question, which course of his did you take? And is the course only for additional training?
@@amandapluma did you do his six figure class ?
How much EO INSURANCE do most signing companies ask for?
Do u have to have a driver's license in ca to become a notary in ca?
It is not required however it something you should have considering driving is a major component of this job.
E&O for 4 yesr through NNA is $468 not $100 ...GET the whole 4 years do not SKIMP!!!!
Can You Please Tell Me The Printer Renting Company...Didn't Get That
Ricoh
Did you work with a mentor when you first started? I'm a new notary and looking into this as another stream of income.
No.
I do mentor others over video chat though. :)
calendly.com/amandapluma
I can guide you through the process.
Approximately how much do you spend on supplies?
around $300
@@amandapluma per month?
Did you take Mark wills course?
Yes I did
So you can't use an inkjet printer?
Laserjet is highly recommended
Where do I get the bond at ?
Can I print through my apartment complexes printer
Big no no! We print a lot of private information. It’s not safe to print in a public space.
Should you get an LLC when being a loan signing agent?
You should talk to a CPA about that. Everyone's situation is different so it's hard to say :)
If you want to establish a legal business, and build business credit, and take advantage of any small business tax breaks... I’d say yes.
In most states you can give your LLC a general name and just DBA notary business.
I did the Groupon deal for $25 . I couldn’t pass it up
Do you feel like it taught you enough?
@@amandapluma yes I do . I passed right through the test
@@teresasilas5083 nice! I'm glad the deal was worth it! :)
