For anybody in the comments…For General Notary work, charge what you feel you are worth. I often give quotes and at times it may be outside of the customer’s price range. That is perfectly OK. There are customers who will pay you YOUR price. Dont undervalue your time. I charged $100 for a single document, which may only be a 10 minute appt. But, I had an hour of total drive time.
Also, everyone who is buying homes in this market will definitely refinance when rates drop. It will get busy again. Hold fast.

Rates are not going to drop. The 50 year average is 8% and there have only been a handful of years under 6%. Rates under 5% have only happened 3 or 4 years of the last 50 years.

Quick disclaimer. At about 2:40 there’s a comment at the bottom that states “you can set your own prices in gnw” be very careful with that. There are State specific pricing. For example in Utah, you can only charge as much as $10 per notification. Also only about $0.52 per mile, to travel to the location. (Not to get back home) You can add services for extra money, but you need to be able to justify those expenses. Do your homework for your states limitations and notary regulations.
Just don’t want someone to charge the moon and lose their commission off bad UA-cam information.

I’ve been doing loan signings since 2019. I will tell you that the industry right now is messed up. I do signings for mortgage companies, title companies, a few law firms directly and quite a few signing services. Everyone is slow. I’ve gone from doing 3-7 signings in 1 day to 3-7 in a month. Anyone who says the market isn’t slower than it has been is just lying to you. Good luck everyone.

@@Mikaneres you are welcome. I wouldn’t go into loan signing right now. If you haven’t gotten in good with a title or mortgage company yet the chances are you won’t. The few jobs they have are being given to the notaries they have been using and they will tell you that. Also there is a notary training system out there who will tell you they will give you a list of signing services that you can call. When you call the list you will find many of the services are closed due to how slow the market is. I recalled every number on that list again in August and sooooo many of the number’s weren’t in use. I could only imagine how many are open today in January. A few picked up the phones and said “ The market is slow and there is no work to spare.” Or something to that affect. Granted when the market was good they would say this but, right now you know they are telling the truth. If you have the cash to get your certs and time to side hustle go for it but, the majority of loan signing agents aren’t full-time right now. When the market changes you can get ready. Good luck

3:35 Same here! I seriously dedicated 4+ hrs to actually mentor a good friend of mine. I had typed up notes, provided redacted sample docs, did a mini mock signing with her, answered all of her questions. Unfortunately, she didn’t put in the effort on her part & returned to a 9-5. It made me mad because sooo many newbies plead for a mentor. However as a seasoned LSA, you don’t know which newbies are going to put in the work & which newbies are not, you definitely don’t want to waste your time & knowledge though.
I’ve been a full-time LSA for 2+ yrs now & I am steady. Yes, there’s a slow down going, but there’s still work out there.

Maybe you should come over to the East Coast. Being in the real estate business I will tell you the market has definitely changed. They're still business out there. I don't think we're in a housing crash, once the interest rates level off and or come down later next year I think we're going to see an upsurge and you'll be busy busy again. By the way, I think the most prime time for women to feel comfortable and find themselves is between 27 and 30 years old. Do what you want to do always keep your side hustle because later on in life you wish that you had accomplished those things if you hadn't already done them. Congrats on everything

General notary work in CA is $15 max per stamp. But you can charge a travel fee to go to them in your a mobile notary
For loan signings they put offers for $40-90 max I’ve seen in my area currently with Signing Services
Direct Title can pay as much as $100-300 depending on the type of signing that’s why she said go direct but the market is saturated currently
