There's a free app to control the whole of the camera's settings (and I use it on set, so I can certify it just functions), with no options you'd have to pay for... still you find a way to rant and moan ? Try other brands, and see how much you need to pay to unlock features, get the app, get AC power, have full use of circuitry and options, etc. Being eternally unsatisfied is... well, you'll see. Just wait for years !
@@gillesmatheronpro sony is a smartphone manufacturer, they had a lot of opportunity to make a camera more like a smartphone in terms of connectivity, menus etc and they didn't do much for years, also something like monitor + which is similar in some ways to this app has existed for years, so they have no excuses for taking so much time, but i can agree with you that other camera manufacturer like Nikon or Canon are much worse than Sony to offer these options to their userbase.

Haven't got a real monitor for my FX30 yet, so I just USB-C to the Creators app on my phone. Boom, free monitor with a 6.5" screen, low latency, good touch, and all the controls.
@@MoneyMunday Used it yesterday on USB-C, no real noticeable latency with some walking around. Wireless is barely perceptible. I would need a third device to record the real difference. Gotta borrow another phone or camera 😆

no. And this problem was annoying me for quite a while now. Modern phones & tablets has usb-c connectivity, and it is possible to pass video signal by utilizing DisplayPort AltMode. Why Sony didn't bother implementing this thing in their own phones (instead of adding HDMI input to Sony Xperia phone), stays secret to me.

Yes I want to know this to. I think if you can't load a LUT onto your camera, then you can't view it on the app either. Let's hope they update the app to at least have the gamma assist option
Wut no A7IV.? that's probably why i haven't used it all these yrs.. I have the zhiyun app, which is a bit of comfort with HDMI wifi submitter, but multicam with this app and a7iv and 6700 could really benefit my workflow.

I'd love to use it, but my FX3's bluetooth stopped working once I upgraded the firmware to 5.0 :/ happened to more people than just me so it's a known issue, I hope Sony does something about it.
Sony is losing customers because of this. They even have the audacity to charge some customers 700 dollars to fix it. Ive already decided that I'm never buying a Sony camera ever again

Had this issue with my a7s3. Luckily I bought extended warranty and sent it in to have the mainboard replaced ($1000). On the sony website they address this issue saying it's a hardware problem. So I don't think a firmware will fix it, unless you are able to rollback to an earlier version. Total BS!!! I will not buy another Sony cause of this
Fair play from Sony, really. This is a great app for filming yourself for free. What's best about it is that you can sync all of them together = less work in post.
Great video. The waveform changing with LUTS is not only the app, the FX6 does this as well on the VF and SDI/HDMI outs. Really would like the ability for the waveform to just monitor the recorded signal

Really love the app but have not been able to get it to connect to our Burano no matter what we do. Would love if it paired as easily as our A1. The focus tools are amazing. Just the speed at which you can set max/min focus for perfect pulls every time is worth it. Every individual feature it offers would be worth a download on it's own. Had no idea the multicam feature was even there, so now i'm really excited to get it paired to all our devices.
I wonder if you could boost the wifi by using a travel router between the ipad and the camera, as neither device is specifically made for handling a wifi signal very good.
I have been using the monitor+ app to do this. Glad to know that Sony has its own. Would be nice if they can extend it to other models too. The multi-cam was the one lacking from the monitor+ app.
I love using the ipad as a monitor with this app. But the multi cam option was a pain! Took forever to connect two cameras to the internet and one camera was too laggy and kept dropping signal every few seconds. I hope they keep working on this app, it could be so helpful. Just not sure why they cant connect cameras in multi cam the same way you do in single camera mode. without having to type in internet passwords.
Can you make a video on how to connect the multi cam on an iPad. I've gone through all their step by step on the website and have done the wifi/Bluetooth and can not get it working. its frustrating. Maybe there is one step I'm not doing but even the prompt on the Sony website is wrong for the FX3. So not sure how you did it. I've been after a monitor that let's me check and change focus so the app is a game changer (aside from the pesky delay). Fix the delay and this is a perfect companion. Also, why is there a delay if you plug it into USB?

It works on the A7iv now, but unfortunately no gamma assist option when shooting in Slog3. Kinda defeats the whole purpose. At least the monitor + app allows you to use a LUT
Doesn't seem to work with A7IV. Am I mising something? It says software not supported, but surely this camera is very recent and some older cameras seem to be supported. Would love to use any other software than Creators' App which is very unreliable.
Mate this is a game changer! I was about to take the hit for a Ninja but now I can save the dosh! It's actually better than that. I'd need a wireless transmitter to monitor all my cameras on a shoot but with this app I can now do everything on my phone. I got rid of my iPad last year but now I can spend the dosh on a new one.
This is genuinely game changing for me, I purchased the new dji SDR for nothing it seems. Is there anyway of boosting the signal ? I will be using mine for car videos with a car rig, similar to what you where doing

I would love to see support with the Sony a6400. Monitor+ is the only I can use because it’s able to connect via usb instead of hdmi (allows me to record 4 while keeping tracking) but hdmi or wireless connections display a lot of features with the a6400
I just wish in mulit cam view you could see your tracking auto focus point. Just that little extra insurance. Oh fyi if you want to get more range, bring a wireless router, and create a network, then set up access points on your camera to that network. It makes your connection way more stable.
Hey James, Inspired by your video, I rented the FX30 to test how the app works. While setting up the connection and everything, I discovered that I was able to connect my A7C II and ZV-E10 II without any issues, even though the manufacturer's instructions don't list these models. Has anyone else tested this, maybe?

There's a custom Murata WiFi module used in FX3, A7S3, A1 and neither Sony or Murata could answer if it is FCC certified to use in US or not

Unfortunately does not connect with my zve1, I hope Sony update the app soon to support more cameras. ZVE1 has same sensors as the A7S3 and FX3.

Doesn't seem to work with A7IV. Am I mising something? It says software not supported, but surely this camera is very recent and some older cameras seem to be supported. Would love to use any other software than Creators' App which is very unreliable.
Mate this is a game changer! I was about to take the hit for a Ninja but now I can save the dosh! It's actually better than that. I'd need a wireless transmitter to monitor all my cameras on a shoot but with this app I can now do everything on my phone. I got rid of my iPad last year but now I can spend the dosh on a new one.
This is genuinely game changing for me, I purchased the new dji SDR for nothing it seems. Is there anyway of boosting the signal ? I will be using mine for car videos with a car rig, similar to what you where doing

I would love to see support with the Sony a6400. Monitor+ is the only I can use because it’s able to connect via usb instead of hdmi (allows me to record 4 while keeping tracking) but hdmi or wireless connections display a lot of features with the a6400
I just wish in mulit cam view you could see your tracking auto focus point. Just that little extra insurance. Oh fyi if you want to get more range, bring a wireless router, and create a network, then set up access points on your camera to that network. It makes your connection way more stable.

Inspired by your video, I rented the FX30 to test how the app works. While setting up the connection and everything, I discovered that I was able to connect my A7C II and ZV-E10 II without any issues, even though the manufacturer's instructions don't list these models.
Has anyone else tested this, maybe?

@@jfoldger1184 this is a bit strange on fx30 and zve10ii it works but already on a6700 it does not , same goes for a7iv but on a7cii it works where is the problem ? or is it just software limitations ? it is obvious that it can work with other cameras

Firmware updated, iPad updated, App updated, still doesn't work. Monitor+ does work and works well.
