Hi can you help me please ?
İ did every step but at last when i push the enter on command screen doesnt make update :/ says cannot read ( file update name) for nexus 4. im trying for nexus 4. I never make root or open bootloader btw. I chosed this cuz no need them rgiht ?
After you change that PATH, do we leave it like that forever? Or do we need to change it back if we dont plan on manually updating anymore?
ok i've updated nexus 5 device drivers for windows 8.1 and i am able to connect to android sdk before rebooting into bootloader, but once i am booted into bootloader and begin sideload, i get "error device not found". what could i possibly be doing wrong? i have developer settings, usb debugging selected, correct build.
i have nexus 5 with Android 6 version. Today i did power off my mobile and the Power it on from the button. 1st Google Appeared on screen and then Android has to appear, but then it just don't go further. The mono of Android does not appear nor does the further. what could possible the error?
When i try to modify the radio they say not suported for locked devices, any help ?
If you're on windows 8.1 and you're having the "error: device not found" then do the following.
make sure drivers are installed, the google drivers, and that you're in ADB, with USB debugging on
1) start a terminal window from platform-tools in the SDK
2) type "adb devices" to make sure your device is connected
3) if you see your device serial number and "device" next to the serial number then you're good to go to the next step
4) type "adb reboot recovery" and wait
5) when in recovery, for nexus 5, press power and then volume for a second (press volume while still pressing power), until you see options come up
6) if you hear the windows 8.1 "usb insert" sound, you're doing it right, now let the driver install
7) go into device manager, and under other devices you should see Nexus 5
8) right click on Nexus 5 and click on "update device driver software"
9) then click "browse my computer for software"
10) then "let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
11) find "android device" click it
12) click "Android Composite USB Interface"
13) click yes on the warning that pops up
voila! you're done! now flash away by typing "adb sideload filename.zip" replacing filename with the file name and making sure the .zip is there. ENJOY LOLLIPOP!
In the let me pick list it doesn't say "android device" so what should i do please help
What does it say? Shock Zoroark
It doesn't say anything like when I click to search and look through my own files and there isn't one file named "android device"
Click let me pick from a list of device drivers not files
Yeah I did but it doesn't even say Android Devices period
I know you are probably getting a lot of questions but when i get to the screen with the stock recovery it says "no command" under the little android dude and ive tried many combinations of buttons and it just restarts my phone.
Worked really well.. Thanks alot
It worked! Thanks man...
Very informative video. It worked perfectly fine for me!
hey my nexus is stuck on the boot animation and it will net let me factory reset via the recover mode menu. Is there any way to check the build number of my phone because i can not turn it on?
Thanks for the tutorial, it works for me, Cheers!
THANK YOU!! This worked great!! Wish I would of known I could do this when I bought my Nexus 5.... The first thing i would have done is unlocked my phone. :) :) :)
my laptop runs on windows 7 and when i press shift+right click there is no option for open command prompt here.. how to do it
and in the hammerhead that i downloaded.. there is only 1 image file inside is it good enough or did i miss any file
AFTER 3 HOURS IT WORKED!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!
Hi Tim!! Why the size of the factory image available in google site is around 80-90 MB more than that available on the link provided by you?
thanks
good morning all steps did nothing but video when one began to upgrade only lleo to restart ance and to the part of the blue menu . I do not know what else to do
it worked!! awesommeeeee
When I copy and paste the zip file into the final command prompt then press enter it doesn't work and it says:
"error: device not found "
Can you help me with this?
On the last step when I press enter it said "cannot read" then shows what I had pasted. I made sure everything was copied exact and had ".zip" what do I do?
Nice work. Now at last a good guide to follow.
Edit: Successfully updated firmware.
Hello,
I tried your method but its not working.
I use custom recovery TRW (ADB sideload). you have an idea? Tks
Will future OTA updates work after doing this manual installation? Just wondering in case a lollipop 5.1 is released.
What do i have to do if after i put in adb sideload with the zip file and it says: *cannot read wasd.zip* ?
ok, so ive been trying to do it but it says "device not found"... idk what to do, as far as i know, i installed the platform tools and everything else. idk what it is im doing wrong... help please!

thank you for the video, it really helped :)
Cna you please help me man. my phone has been stuck on boot animation for a few days and i think it has somethign to do with the cache. I tried this method and it is still giving me the same errors i got whenever i try to factory reset the phone or anything. If i select clear the ccache partition or wipe data/factory reset the screen goes black for a few seconds and then it goes back to the android logo with a red traingle in his chest. Here is the error it is giving me.
E: failed to mount /cache (No such file or directory)
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E: failed to open /cache/recovery/log
E: failed to mount /cache (No such file or directory)
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/log

E: failed to open /cache/recovery/Last_Intall
E: Can't open /dev/block/platorm/msm_sdcc.1/ny-name/misc(no such file or directory)
any chance that all this will work on mac? or it`s just for windows?
thanx dude....worked like a charm
thanks alot just did it and it worked for me.
does the bootloader need to be unlocked ? or is this really all you need to do to manually update ?
I currently have the latest Lollipop preview and what to sideload the oofficial version. is it possible to do it if I don't have the KTU84P anymore?
What is stock recovery?, i'm deciding whether to update manually or wait for the ota
Thanks buddy it helped me out
I have the 4.4.4 OTA update, but it failed . Can I just update to 5.0 from 4.4.3 directly?
I'm not sure what you mean by being stock. I have the same build and I'm on 4.4.4.
So what do you mean by stock recovery? I haven't tweaked it whatsoever. It's just like it came from the shop. and it won't wipe anything right? No apps and pics and all that.
Qbking77 (Tim Schofield)
Done with universal ABD USB driver. thanks Tim
