John d'Arke from what I heard, Samsung plans to update this year's Galaxy phones to Lollipop before the end of the year, so if you like the Note it still might not be a bad idea to get one, especially the 4. That's the only Samsung phone that actually had me considering switching from the Nexus family, but then they announced the 6...
I put Cm12 lollipop on my daughters s3 and with a funky case as well you'd never guess it was a old phone. I've been rooting for years and would recommend cf autoroot because it's the easiest and most newbie friendly. Then down rashr and flash twrp and then put LOLLPOP on it.
Nuggets 404 cf autoroot is the most mainstream rooting method so is best for someone who's never rooted before. It's the most unlikely to go wrong. I've read too many incompatibility issues with kingroot. I'm glad it worked for you though :-) x
Truegamr5 I doubt Lollipop's among them. Just rot it and install something like Cyanogenmod on it. I know it's a bit of a cliche, but..... *It's true.*
I remember buying my first android phone that shipped with lollipop. The amount of new features that were introduced on lollipop was mind blowing. It really built the foundation of android.
The new update looks pretty sweet, great review. Not trying to hate or anything here, but why when iOS 7 was announced all the android users bash about the colours and animations but now this has come out and people love it. I know it looks really good. And they say Apple 'sheep' or whatever when that to me sounds a bit like Google 'Sheep'.
Toby McMillan They only thing that was bashed is the stale old grid of icons look. Why would we bash animations when Jellybean and Kitkat have a ton of them?
***** exiledfrommyself well I saw a lot of people hating the animations and colours, they always say how it looks like a 3 year old has done it or the animations make it too slow.
Toby McMillan when ios came out most ppl bashing the theme, were mostly ios users, i have friends that still havent updated primarily cause of it. Android has always had the ability to allow its users to make whatever they want out of their phone.
iOS had many of these features loooong time ago!! screen pinning, animations, notifications on lock screen, screen casting, flashlight, screen orientation, do not disturb mode and others.. and the funny part is that apple implements them in a better way. For example, you choose the password to unpin the app so nobody can do it except you not by a gesture that everyone can know it. and that dialer looks almost exactly like the one in iOS! And the rest of the features are coming from other android skins like touchwiz and sense. so has google really come up with anything new here!! ohh yeah it is all new for the poor stock android users..
Those are mere animations, we android users welcome it. Yes its new, but no a big improvement, just some appearance, by the way, you simply saw nexus phones, not all android phones are the same, some phones have all of what you stated even before lolipop. Dont generalize all androids, shame... like dextroid said, apple is looooooonnnnnggg far from android
De Celle Ios is optimized for apple, it allows all apple devices to maximize its productivity and efficiency, yes android does have some superior features to ios but you cant really say ios is inferior either, it is on par.
Boyet&Angela I don't see this as inconsistent at all. It's exactly how I expect it to behave. There are times when you'd want to hide the keyboard, and that's a perfectly acceptable method for doing so. What else would you expect it to do?
android finally looks finished... before stock android was always to simple.. reviewers used to say .. stock android wasn't for main stream users. You'd use hts sense then go to a nexus and half the cool transitions etc were missing.. now this looks like a hight end skin yet it's not.. so fast and pretty ..perfect
Alot of iphone users think these features never existed in android before. They did. Just not in STOCK android. If you had a samsung device, HTC etc, many of these features were already there. "OMG android didnt have a flashlight? omg apple masterace". Apple literally copied tons of features it has now from jailbreak applications. Now go back to the apple store and worship your lord and savior steve jobs.
A lot of android users also think that many features never existed in iOS before..They did..Just not in STOCK iOS. If you jailbreak your device, many of the features can be installed. "OMG iOS didn't have notifcation centre or multitasking? omg.. android rules.." iOS had both and many more features.. in the form of jailbreak. Now get back to a samsung store and be the guardian of the galaxy
ironically a lot of these features are taken from iOS :P which is good. iOS 7/8 took the good from android and now android has taken the good from iOS, making them both better for everyone.
Dominic Lawrence Sygaco Lock screen notifications, lock rotation, downslide brightness toggle, screen pin(guided access on IOS) Everyone takes features from other OS's it's not an apple thing or a google thing it's a business thing.
Dustin Castillo Lock screen notification were possible with a custom lock screen (on play store) Lock rotation was already implemented long ago but on stock it was only accessible from the settings The brightness toggle was also available from the swipe down menu just one more click Screen pin was kind of possible with some child protection apps
Dustin Castillo All of those have been possible for quite a while on Android, except maybe for guided access. I already had all of those functions, but now they are included stock. Touchwiz already had lock rotation and the brightness toggle built in. Notifications were possible through third-party applications. I'm sure there was an app for guided access, I'm just drawing a blank. The point is, most of these features were already available on Android. Now they are included stock.
I love how all these android fans are like "wow, new animations such wow" when Android 5.0 lollipop comes out but when iOS 7 came out they were like "ew new animations so gross"
No we are not all like that, Personally I have used iOS and Android. If you have never used android you can't be posting comments about you're overpriced iPhone 6. Now if you haven't heard of a phone called the One Plus One yet, You can take you're little iPhone 6 add some speed to it, add a bigger battery and you have the One Plus. Everybody thinks that oohhhh the iPhone 6 is so fast, but honestly the only reason you use it is because all the other "cool kids" use it so you have to be part of them. Try out Android before saying comments that you are obviously not educated about.
Chris Todorov I actually have used android before and I don't use iOS for that reason I use it because I have a mac, an iPad, and an iPhone and the ecosystem works perfectly. I simply prefer it to android. Why don't you stop making assumptions before you bash on someone you know nothing about. I didn't say anything against android...I simply pointed out something funny I noticed. Chill dude, you freaking android fans have to take everything to the extreme. It's like your life goal is to try and make the iPhone look bad and make sure everyone in the world knows that you have the superior phone. Just calm down man.
Chris Todorov Never been more happy with my nexus 5. Ive used ios with the ipod 5 and it was ok until ios7. Just shows how terrible apple treats older devices. Unlike google where they develop software with older devices in mind.
GamerPlayingGames True, BUT I'd way rather have all the software updates available on day one on all of my devices than having to wait who knows how long for the stupid third party manufacturer to slap a skin on it then for it to go through the carriers and it just takes too long. Both companies have their software flaws. Apple's is that new software sucks for old devices and for Google the distribution process is horrid.
I have Lollipop for my Nexus 4 and it makes using my phone and syncing data a dream. I really like how Google acts as a cloud for my pictures and contacts.
was the flashlight in notifications/control centre in android? only a widget was available on android until 5.0 notifications. do not disturb wasn't really there apart from touchwiz blocking mode.
Leo Smites I read a comment further back up about how the majority of todays Android users don't usually join in on the snide and bitter OS arguments and complaints.. I guess you don't really fall into this category, right? ***** was throwing a compliment out there, and yet you both still took the opportunity to squeeze in some hate - you guys really can't take a compliment at all can you? Considering that a lot of the new features in Android 5.0 have been the primary focus of iOS for over 7 years now, isn't your comment backfiring on yourself a little? Apple/iOS from what I have seen has always prided itself on fluid motion, design and animation coherence .. all of which were the main focus for the very first time in Android 5.0
Wow.... lots and lots and lots of iOS in there, which is a very good thing since Kit Kat was looking really really old. Anywho Android fanboys, I have a bunch of Android stuff myself and I'm very much looking forward to getting my Shield Tablet updated to this the second its available, its can't come too soon - but seriously, can y'all pipe down with the Apple copying stuff already? This is a huge upgrade for Android and its very much an Apple like design, with a splash of Metro. Personally I don't care how they get to a good design as long as its good.
***** might be because you don't use ios. The animations, the screen pinning(access guide in ios), nnotificationsin lock screen and there are other lots which you will see in youtube. Just surf the youtube
IOS user for 2 years Moved to android a month ago with Note 4 one sentence "MY PHONE FINALLY FEELS SMART" simply love the personalization, smart notifications, Google now, and the batt life, Apple users have no idea what they are missing out on.
You're quite united livens. To make the colour black, it takes probably the same as to make the colour white with pixels. It's not like they just turn of the pixels to make the colour black. It won't suck up your battery more than the bright white
i dont like how you can unlock the screen pin like that, it can be pretty easy to figure it out if they try long enough. also if you are lending someone your phone to someone who also has a nexus 5 or android l they would know how to get out of it. they should make it that the only way you can get out of it is by turning off the phone and re entering your password.
I think you are prompted to type in your password if you have one set. As he mentioned he has a trusted device nearby, the moto360 so he doesn't have to.
I wish ***** showed off new face unlock. For me, that's one of the features I am looking forward to see how it works. Its more like an introduction to Android L.
Jazli Aziz I have read about the reliability, some of it coming from you, and I know its good. And that is the reason I want to see it. A video is worth 1000 words. It basically gives a feel of how it works rather than the idea of how it works.
Praveen K wait a second, if a picture is worth a 1000 words, and a video is just a bunch of pictures (frames) put together, then wouldn't a video be worth 1000x (x = number of frames) words? That's a lot of words.
Daniel Banuelos are you kidding me? the dialer is basically identical to the one on IOS, the screen pin option, the lock orientation option, the notifications on the lock screen, the entire look is very similar to the new IOS look.
***** Yes they are, the brightness slider in the notifications, taken from ios 6, rotation lock, taken from ios 6, screen pin, taken from ios 7 and do not disturb, taken from ios 6. A lot of features that are taken from iOS and most of them are stupid things that should've been added a long time ago.
BokiSmokiToki I had a Samsung vibrant in 2010. It had a Brightness slider and auto rotation lock. I'm pretty sure ios didn't even have these capabilities at the time let alone being able to drag a notification bar. Android and IOS over time are really just pulling inspiration from each other.
Just waiting till the day Marques receives a huge cheque from Apple or some other huge company and sets away from Android and loves Apple... happens to like every you tube reviewer.
OMG..only the video gear you use costs about $18k..and you own a lot of tech stuff such as flagship mobiles,laptops,tablets,ps4,etc..boy you must be a rich kid.
Well iOS does have widgets up in the Notifications Center; although they aren't nearly as good as Android's and are relatively limited. And about the looks that is a matter of opinion.
X Actually, they are true widgets in iOS 8 and third party apps can add to the collection. Unfortuantely though, Apple can be real herd master some times, like they said they don't want Calculator Widgets in iOS 8 and began pulling such apps from the store...they really want to control iDevice users like a bunch of sheeps.
I think it is because during apple events they spend a while bashing Android phones and then go on to introduce Android features. All companies take features off of each other. That is how everything works. We bounce ideas off of each other constantly. It is just that Apple tries to pretend a lot of the time that they are the innovators.
I haven't heard anyone talk about the animations in iOS because there are a lot of animations already in Android. What 5.0 brings is a consistent flow. Instead of animations popping out of nowhere all the animations sort of flow into each other. It creates a more pleasing look.
There are more than enough Android users that now bitch around because of Android 5.0 and call it the ugliest OS they've seen. But that's a matter of taste, I like it really much, finally an Android version that doesn't need to hide from iOS and Windows Phone in many aspects. The people that don't like it probably are the same guys that don't like the iOS 7 design and also hate pretty much anything new and different. Just ignore them, they can't be helped.
SaHaRaSquad The only Android implementation that needs to be hidden is Touchwiz and I think you'll still need to hide it when it's incorporated into 5.0.
Well, if you are an Android user, I don't know how you lived with yourself up until now. Kitkat, Jelly Bean, Ice Cream Sandwich, Honeycomb, Gingerbread, Froyo, Eclair, Donut... and all of a sudden Lollipop hits your buttons? You are weird.
Some phones such as the HTC One M9 have an IR blaster, which can be used to control your TV. The skyping thing does work though, a quick Google search will do the trick.
So the Android OS's goes in alphabetical order huh?..... A, (android 1.0) B, (Android 1.1), C (Cupcake, Android 1.5) D, (Donut, Android 1.6) E, (Eclair, Android 2.0) F, (Frozen Yogurt, Android 2.2) G, (Gingerbread 2.3-2.3.7) H, (Honeycomb, Android 3.0) I, (Ice Cream, Android 4.0) J, (Jelly bean 4.1, 4.3) K, (KitKat, Android 4.4) Now finally...L, (Lollipop, Android 5.0)...No M yet it looks like Don't worry Google, I already know a good name. Android Meth.
Android is clearly progressing to a more fluid experience like ios.... But im no fanboy and im not going to go ape shit shouting THEY COPIED APPLE (like how android fanboys went when ios introduced widgets and third party apps) .... Its just an improvement and i think it looks amazing -Speaking as an ios user
It's funny that this video is being recommended to me in 2023. Kind of miss the old days of when Android was still new and feature drops were actually significant. Now what do we get, a couple of new color pallettes maybe?
Hoowwwww What is it with people on the internet that consider a disagreeing opinion as being an infringement on their free speech? Just like, in general. I notice it a lot.
I know it's your opinion but then you're wrong and just inviting for hate on the internet. If you can use an iPhone, I wonder what's so confusing with android. It's not like the UI is much difference so please, before you make any statement saying it's a confusing OS next time try it for a while first. Despite people saying iPhone is easy to use I too can get confused or frustrated when using it once in a while since I'm getting used to android and windows phone.
hmm... this looks a lot like iOS...I think I will stay with iOS. In my opinion iOS looks a lot better. Also, guided access and lock screen notifications....you guys never had this before?
TheReivax27 To be fair they did make it look more like iOS. Then the second bit is obviously opinion. The third bit.... don't know because I don't have an Android phone. Was there not guided access or lock screen notifications before?
Sy Wolf I simply remember when iOS was all about "skeuomorphism master race" and switched to flat design and ended up looking drastically more like Android /s iOS just discovered widgets, paying via NFC and third party keyboards, I'm missing the point of discussing new Android features. I don't know about others but I've had lock screen notifications on the moto x since last year.
Moto X had this cool feature called Active notifications which allowed you to see your notifications while only using up the pixels needed to show the actual notification. For iOS you gotta turn on your phone and blah blah blah. Moto X and any Motorola phone and you gotta do is simply bump the phone or take it out of your pocket and bam you see the time and any notifications you have. I don't think iOS can do that. :/

Really awesome video showing some great features
T_T Why must I torture myself looking at what my dying s3 can't have
I have a cm12 lollipop build on my i9300! check it in xda
I have it on my s3 and it looks amazing!
I was wondering why this video was on my suggestions list. And then I seen it. Uploaded 4 years ago today!
keep up the good work young buck. I appreciate your insight and enjoy your reviews. Never become complacent. Keep tweeking and improving things.
Update ( 23rd June, 2014 ) - S6 would be the first Galaxy series phone to get Octa-Core Exynos chip.
I'm watching this while lollypop installs
+Shaun Fraser poor you
Lol yusss

I remember buying my first android phone that shipped with lollipop. The amount of new features that were introduced on lollipop was mind blowing. It really built the foundation of android.
The new update looks pretty sweet, great review.
Not trying to hate or anything here, but why when iOS 7 was announced all the android users bash about the colours and animations but now this has come out and people love it. I know it looks really good. And they say Apple 'sheep' or whatever when that to me sounds a bit like Google 'Sheep'.
Can you name one person who bashed the colors and animations?
exiledfrommyself no because they're all UA-cam commenters, why would I memorise the username of someone that I'll never see again?
Toby McMillan They only thing that was bashed is the stale old grid of icons look. Why would we bash animations when Jellybean and Kitkat have a ton of them?
***** exiledfrommyself well I saw a lot of people hating the animations and colours, they always say how it looks like a 3 year old has done it or the animations make it too slow.
Toby McMillan when ios came out most ppl bashing the theme, were mostly ios users, i have friends that still havent updated primarily cause of it. Android has always had the ability to allow its users to make whatever they want out of their phone.
Back when Android updates were innovative and exciting
iOS had many of these features loooong time ago!!
screen pinning, animations, notifications on lock screen, screen casting, flashlight, screen orientation, do not disturb mode and others..
and the funny part is that apple implements them in a better way. For example, you choose the password to unpin the app so nobody can do it except you not by a gesture that everyone can know it.
and that dialer looks almost exactly like the one in iOS!
And the rest of the features are coming from other android skins like touchwiz and sense. so has google really come up with anything new here!!
ohh yeah it is all new for the poor stock android users..
agreed
HASTA LA VISTA
Those are mere animations, we android users welcome it. Yes its new, but no a big improvement, just some appearance, by the way, you simply saw nexus phones, not all android phones are the same, some phones have all of what you stated even before lolipop. Dont generalize all androids, shame... like dextroid said, apple is looooooonnnnnggg far from android
De Celle I meant Adarsh
De Celle Ios is optimized for apple, it allows all apple devices to maximize its productivity and efficiency, yes android does have some superior features to ios but you cant really say ios is inferior either, it is on par.
Android 5.0 Lollipop Features Summarised nicely by *****!
Nearly i will get Lollipop on my Nexus 5.... 3rd November ?
No to Nexus 6.. To Big... to Expensive
Tanvir H No. Nexus 5 won't get Android 5.0 on November 3. The Nexus 7 (2013) and Nexus 10 will get it on November 3. Nexus 5 will get it later.
Wow you are now verified @SuperSaf bro
Good video! I Can not wait for my Nexus 6!
Wait, what? The back button is inconsistent? I've never experienced this. For me, it always does what I expect it to do. What is he talking about?
Actually, ***** care to address my question above?
***** the back button turns into a "close keyboard" button when your keyboards up.....even on 4.4....is that what you mean?
Boyet&Angela I don't see this as inconsistent at all. It's exactly how I expect it to behave. There are times when you'd want to hide the keyboard, and that's a perfectly acceptable method for doing so. What else would you expect it to do?
android finally looks finished... before stock android was always to simple.. reviewers used to say .. stock android wasn't for main stream users. You'd use hts sense then go to a nexus and half the cool transitions etc were missing.. now this looks like a hight end skin yet it's not.. so fast and pretty ..perfect
Just updated my FHD Nexus 7 to lollipop and im loving it!
Came to this video to recap on all the cool stuff that you mentioned!
Thats true, i have the flashlight shortcut in my Galaxy Nexus with CM11.
Can we all get along and say....windows phone sucks! Lol
steve jobs was moron he didn't know abc of tech.. he was the dumbest of all..
apple was success due to woznaik
***** agreed.
Trèes bonne vidéo pour expliquer toutes les nouveautés d'Android L !
Marques wearing blue?! What's happening??
this was when android turned white. and now the dark mode suddenly a limited feature lmao what a time to live
ironically a lot of these features are taken from iOS :P
which is good. iOS 7/8 took the good from android and now android has taken the good from iOS, making them both better for everyone.
Can you tell me what are those features copied from iOS? Or you just didnt know android had them way back?
Dominic Lawrence Sygaco Lock screen notifications, lock rotation, downslide brightness toggle, screen pin(guided access on IOS) Everyone takes features from other OS's it's not an apple thing or a google thing it's a business thing.
Dustin Castillo
Lock screen notification were possible with a custom lock screen (on play store)
Lock rotation was already implemented long ago but on stock it was only accessible from the settings
The brightness toggle was also available from the swipe down menu just one more click
Screen pin was kind of possible with some child protection apps
Dustin Castillo All of those have been possible for quite a while on Android, except maybe for guided access. I already had all of those functions, but now they are included stock. Touchwiz already had lock rotation and the brightness toggle built in. Notifications were possible through third-party applications. I'm sure there was an app for guided access, I'm just drawing a blank. The point is, most of these features were already available on Android. Now they are included stock.
He is just showing how those features changed since the last version. A lot of the things he mentioned have been in Android since a long time.
I love how all these android fans are like "wow, new animations such wow" when Android 5.0 lollipop comes out but when iOS 7 came out they were like "ew new animations so gross"
This comment gave me ebol-aids
Helpful video.. just a query. Does Lollipop supports on the go(OTG) ?
I have Lollipop for my Nexus 4 and it makes using my phone and syncing data a dream. I really like how Google acts as a cloud for my pictures and contacts.
2019 and my phone still stuck on Lollipop :(
@Cody flash custom rom
About half of these features are clearly iOS-inspired. And people say Apple copies Google...
***** Do Not Disturb, the flashlight feature in notifications. I use apple and android stuff btw before anyone accuses me of fanboyism.
***** How the F can a company be a total ripoff of another company and then make millions (or even billions)?! oh my...
was the flashlight in notifications/control centre in android?
only a widget was available on android until 5.0 notifications.
do not disturb wasn't really there apart from touchwiz blocking mode.
Guys... Who gives a crap if Apple copied Android or the other way around. It's helping the operating systems become better.
...who cares?
so how many of these features are going to be in iOS9?
Hahaha good one
All of them since they're already in iOS 8.
Nice try though...
They copied Ios for the falshlight dumbass
Joshua Alch so ios8 has different users on one phone plz show me smh I sheep or soo dumn
Hey Marques, always value your opinions and reviews. Keep up the great work!!
You need HD to appreciate how beautiful a man Marques Brownlee is
Definitely 😛
gay.
romaro1989 how come?
I'm a troll
You butt slammer.
This is impressive and this is coming from an iOS user!
Course it is going to be impressive if your coming from iOS...
"This is impressive and this is coming from a user of the most stale, innovation lacking UI/OS in mobile phones."
Josh Heslop you win the comment of the year award.
Leo Smites haha, innovative comment there...
That was the most pointless thing I've ever read. Might as well have said "the new updated android update is new, and I like it".
Samuel W. Probably just went over your head. But it's OK, as they said in Caddyshack, the world needs ditch diggers too.
Are you Sam wolf??
***** Uh OK iOS user...
***** might be because you don't use ios. The animations, the screen pinning(access guide in ios), nnotificationsin lock screen and there are other lots which you will see in youtube. Just surf the youtube
Rocking this on my nexus 7 2013 it blows away all my devices waiting for Lollipop in terms of smoothness and ram managing is fantastic
$3,000 paper shreader? He said it like this has actually happened! LoL
IOS user for 2 years
Moved to android a month ago with Note 4
one sentence "MY PHONE FINALLY FEELS SMART"
simply love the personalization, smart notifications, Google now, and the batt life, Apple users have no idea what they are missing out on.
I want a PITCH BLACK theme, none of this bright white nonsense. My AMOLED screen will murder my battery with this whiteness !
Exactly, it'd be amazing if they could make a Dark Material Design,
Kevin Choi With a non-replaceable battery to boot! LOL
You're quite united livens. To make the colour black, it takes probably the same as to make the colour white with pixels. It's not like they just turn of the pixels to make the colour black. It won't suck up your battery more than the bright white
Noam cohen lifehacker.com/5746181/save-your-smartphones-battery-with-dark-wallpapers-and-themes
LTPS LCD #ftw !! :D
Great production quality. Also appreciate your diction and enunciation.
Keep it up.
i dont like how you can unlock the screen pin like that, it can be pretty easy to figure it out if they try long enough. also if you are lending someone your phone to someone who also has a nexus 5 or android l they would know how to get out of it. they should make it that the only way you can get out of it is by turning off the phone and re entering your password.
Agreed
I think you can password-protect it
I think you are prompted to type in your password if you have one set. As he mentioned he has a trusted device nearby, the moto360 so he doesn't have to.
I wish ***** showed off new face unlock. For me, that's one of the features I am looking forward to see how it works.
Its more like an introduction to Android L.
If you're wondering how it works, I can tell you it works well. Sometimes, it even works in situations I didn't expect it too.
Shariq Jamil Yeah. As long as you get what I want to say. 😰😛
Praveen K well, I'm not sure I can comprehend such a large number.
Google is releasing Android 12, but why are you here?
Did you also come from the MKBHD Android 12 new features video?
Nostalgia!
mkbhd
MKBHD
we love you !! 😍
Okay...
Android 5 is the iOS 7 of android phones
Welcome to iOS 7 guys.
More like welcome to cyanogenmod
Daniel Banuelos are you kidding me? the dialer is basically identical to the one on IOS, the screen pin option, the lock orientation option, the notifications on the lock screen, the entire look is very similar to the new IOS look.
Welcome to windows?
That's based on googles material design android is made by Google so yah
I mean bought by google
A lot of features are taken from iOS just saying and no one is commenting on it.
+BokiSmokiToki Actually on the older android build there was a brightness slider and the rotation lock on the notification bar.
BokiSmokiToki LOL that are all stolen android features
Nando Olivier of course it has its called guided assistance.
After 9 years this video shows up on my feed 😆
Cmon marques really? Lol I wanna sleep but the vid sounds interesting xD
***** 03:30am in the UK still going strong lol
ANON USER500 lol same here
Thanks alot! Now we're all wide awake now! *****
HAHA! I was just about to start watching a film before I got the notification. I got excited.
now am using android 11
Just waiting till the day Marques receives a huge cheque from Apple or some other huge company and sets away from Android and loves Apple... happens to like every you tube reviewer.
That doesn't happen, they're big companies, youtubers are probably pretty insignificant to them.
Probably the most well done review I've ever seen. Thanks!

I ALWAYS forget to close my tabs in Chrome, so Android Lollipop Multitasking is going to be hell...
Thats gonna be a problem for me as well. Some ahem unwanted ahem tabs. :P
Android recycles memory as needed, so open tabs shouldn't really be an issue.
Time to start not forgetting LOL.
You can disable it in Chrome settings
Damnn, right now I have 100+ tabs open, I will have a hard time with my Nexus 4...
OMG..only the video gear you use costs about $18k..and you own a lot of tech stuff such as flagship mobiles,laptops,tablets,ps4,etc..boy you must be a rich kid.
Very VERY well done, sir.
Thanks for a rapid paced, yet eloquent synopsis....
Watching on Android 12 phone ❤
iOS still has no widgets, no real multitasking, requires you to keep all your apps on your homescreen. and doesn't look nearly as good.
Well iOS does have widgets up in the Notifications Center; although they aren't nearly as good as Android's and are relatively limited. And about the looks that is a matter of opinion.
Felixir Guy Those aren't even true widgets. They call it widgets because Apple can, but they're still wrong.
Those 'widgets' are basically buttons.
Yes, and what´s your point? :)
***** He never said anything about copying you dweeb...go ask Apple for a chill pill.
IOS borrowed some android features, everyone android fan boy went crazy and now android has borrowed some of iOS features! No one bats an eye.
I think it is because during apple events they spend a while bashing Android phones and then go on to introduce Android features. All companies take features off of each other. That is how everything works. We bounce ideas off of each other constantly. It is just that Apple tries to pretend a lot of the time that they are the innovators.
Well apple wont go up and say yes we took this from our dear rivals android. They obviosly want to SELL their products.
I totally forgot about screen pin!!!
good thing i came back to this, its gonna be useful
Wait...i thought android users were against "superfluous" animations? At least they're always bitching about it on iPhone/iOS videos.
Not all android users are the same
I haven't heard anyone talk about the animations in iOS because there are a lot of animations already in Android. What 5.0 brings is a consistent flow. Instead of animations popping out of nowhere all the animations sort of flow into each other. It creates a more pleasing look.
You can turn animations off... so it isn't really the end of the world
There are more than enough Android users that now bitch around because of Android 5.0 and call it the ugliest OS they've seen.
Lollipop? And people say Apple is gay...
I'm not gay...I dont know about you,I dont want to argue like you
''iPhone'' ''Apple''..... That's all im gonna say....
So candy is now gay?
Apple CEO, Tim Cook is gay. So there's that.
Android is better than ios. First everything is almost free on android.
Secondly, you can do so much more with your Android phone. Example - use it as a webcam for skyping on your computer. Or as a TV remote.
But how?
Some phones such as the HTC One M9 have an IR blaster, which can be used to control your TV. The skyping thing does work though, a quick Google search will do the trick.
Third, you can add features that you didn't even have in your phone with a third party app, like double tap to lock.
Fourth, you can set default apps. Hate the stock messaging app? There's a ton of options, like Textra for example.
Don't forget the wrist flicking gestures! Those are cool.
2019? anyone? 😉
Watching on lolipop 5.1.1 in 2019 :(

Android 10 here
So the Android OS's goes in alphabetical order huh?.....
A, (android 1.0) B, (Android 1.1), C (Cupcake, Android 1.5) D, (Donut, Android 1.6) E, (Eclair, Android 2.0) F, (Frozen Yogurt, Android 2.2) G, (Gingerbread 2.3-2.3.7) H, (Honeycomb, Android 3.0) I, (Ice Cream, Android 4.0) J, (Jelly bean 4.1, 4.3) K, (KitKat, Android 4.4) Now finally...L, (Lollipop, Android 5.0)...No M yet it looks like
Don't worry Google, I already know a good name.
Android Meth.
Android is clearly progressing to a more fluid experience like ios.... But im no fanboy and im not going to go ape shit shouting THEY COPIED APPLE (like how android fanboys went when ios introduced widgets and third party apps) .... Its just an improvement and i think it looks amazing
-Speaking as an ios user
How so?
It's funny that this video is being recommended to me in 2023. Kind of miss the old days of when Android was still new and feature drops were actually significant. Now what do we get, a couple of new color pallettes maybe?
Android is the most confusing OS ever, thanks god i got an iPhone
Hahahaha your jokes are funny 😂😂😂
Edbob TNT It's not a joke, it's my opinion, everyone have his own opinion, that's mine, you also have an opinion about my comment, i respect it
Hoowwwww What is it with people on the internet that consider a disagreeing opinion as being an infringement on their free speech? Just like, in general. I notice it a lot.
Hoowwwww Nice opinion. Too bad its wrong.
I know it's your opinion but then you're wrong and just inviting for hate on the internet. If you can use an iPhone, I wonder what's so confusing with android. It's not like the UI is much difference so please, before you make any statement saying it's a confusing OS next time try it for a while first. Despite people saying iPhone is easy to use I too can get confused or frustrated when using it once in a while since I'm getting used to android and windows phone.
screen pinning is going to be totally useless. everyones gonna know how to unlock it. they should maybe have a fingerprint lock or smth
You can put a password that will be requested in order to exit screen pining
remigiopechlugo oh right, thanks
remigiopechlugo Yea, I was gonna say, it should use your unlock method to cancel out, but independent password would most likely work better.
#RWJ

Dear god bring back the black layout. I hate that lollipop is white. If I wanted an iphone I would have stuck with mine

Android m will have a dark theme for settings.
Derek Roig when is that out?
Laurathor later this year.
Laurathor theres themes.
6yrs ago when Android UI revolutionzed, now it repeat in Android12.
hmm... this looks a lot like iOS...I think I will stay with iOS. In my opinion iOS looks a lot better. Also, guided access and lock screen notifications....you guys never had this before?
such bait...
TheReivax27 To be fair they did make it look more like iOS. Then the second bit is obviously opinion. The third bit.... don't know because I don't have an Android phone. Was there not guided access or lock screen notifications before?
You would have stayed with ios no matter what you sheep, and yes android has had lockscreen notifications
Sy Wolf I simply remember when iOS was all about "skeuomorphism master race" and switched to flat design and ended up looking drastically more like Android
/s
iOS just discovered widgets, paying via NFC and third party keyboards, I'm missing the point of discussing new Android features.
