    My Nexus 7 (2012) didn't work after it was updated to 5.0.2 (Google Play Services didn't work so the whole tablet was useless). Google couldn't help and try to fob it off as a hardware problem. It also wouldn't update when the update to 5.1 came through (just kept resetting). Anyway, as a complete novice to this sort of stuff, I followed your guide and, with a few things to download, it worked. I now have my tablet back - thank you so much :-)

    You have a nice radio voice. I setup a new headset with nfb 11 but that just made you sound even better. I wish I had your voice. But even more your video is one of the most easy, professional, thus easy, video I have ever seen. You covered every little bit a person would have to know and even the unlocking.......... And I found the lollipop image and now this bricked nexus is now booting. I thought my phone was lost or some $125 an hour guy would 'fix it'. I had it bricked and managed to get it to the fast loader screen so I could skip right to that part. The image worked perfectly for my nexus 5 and its on again!! Don't even care about the date right now. I got my phone back. Thanks!

    So this worked all for me! But I had a few troubles that I solved and I want to share them with you.
    1) My device didn't show up in the command after typing adb devices
    Solution:
    Because I used win8 i had to restart the pc without driver signature (google), then I installed the USB NAKED DRIVER for nexus 5 with the device manager.
    2)after first attempt of typing flash-all I had a failure. the device rebootet into stock android 4.4.4. I searched in the commands and found a hint that I had not enough free storage on my device when i first flashed it.
    So i just did everything (Problem 1 too) again, then it worked for me :)
    Thanks for the video man, you described everything so well, everyone can do it with it! Thanks!

    For those who already have an unlocked boot loader, you need not wipe your device again and lose data with the flash-all script. The flash-all.bat (flash-all.sh in Linux) has a line as below.......
    Fastboot -w update image-yourdevicename-buildnumber.zip
    The "-w" parameter to the fastboot command wipes data... If you don't want that you can remove it and run the script... That way it's as good as OTA minus the waiting part... 😁

    • @jamiewagner
      @jamiewagner  9 років тому +1

      Yes, that works to. Thank You for posting this. It's great info!!

    • @VamsiMohanKrishnaVadrevu
      @VamsiMohanKrishnaVadrevu 9 років тому

      MadaraUchiha173 You can edit the flash-all.bat script and run it. It won't wipe user data... But you should be on 4.4.4 .... It worked for me perfectly...

    This worked with the "flashing one by one" method for me! And I didn't have to unroot cuz that's only for sideloading ota's. Glad you had the "fix missing file" vid in your channel, I used that vid when this vid reached the "flash-all.bat" file. Then the other vid showed me the manual method and I chose to omit the flashing of cache and userdata img files to retain my data! I flashed Nexus 6 to lollipop 5.0.1 without wiping data, and re-rooted using NexusRootToolkit 1.9.9 - and it worked flawlessly! My 1st flash ever, and no data loss, and you helped out! Thanks again, rock on!

    • @jamiewagner
      @jamiewagner  9 років тому +1

      ik1llpeeple4fun thats awesome! thanks man! I want to try that method as well flashing and not wiping data!

    • @ik1llpeeple4fun
      @ik1llpeeple4fun 9 років тому +1

      Jamie Lee Wagner In one word - refreshing!!! It's the perfect medium of taking the befefit of sideloading ota's - no data wipes - and the benefit of flashing - no need for unrooting - and combining the two! Will NOT do any other method from now on lol!

    Does relocking the boot loader erase all data? Sorry to be asking so many questions ahha

    • @jamiewagner
      @jamiewagner  9 років тому

      JoshM6789 No it does not wipe the data out when re-locking the bootloader. It only wipes data out when you unlock the bootloader.

    Was terrified that I would brick my device but watched this video right through a couple of times then went for it. Worked perfectly and my Nexus 6 did everything that Jamie said it would :-)
    It was great that parts of the video (particularly the "unauthorised" bit when doing the adb devices command) fully represent what really happens as it puts your mind at ease that you're doing it the same way.
    Great work Jamie and thanks :-)

Home button soft key wouldn't work, the unlocking the device would completely bypass the lock screen. All of this after a reset of all things on 4.4.4. When you get a error like: Device not found. There is an possibility you didn't install the Google USB Driver. If you install this driver and try again with: adb devices . It'll probably work!

    one small point of criticism would be that you may be explaining things a liiittle too deeply, such as the put it all in one folder move. I guess everyone who landed here is pretty known to 7ZIP etc.

    Hi Jamie... This is the only video explaining smallest of the steps without any 3rd party applications. all the applications used were legit. I really appreciate ur work. I jus wanna know one final thing: Now that i've factory lollipop on my nexus 5, how do i relock the bootloader? I guess u missed the step or m i missing anything... ?

    • @avisinghal
      @avisinghal 9 років тому

      also i would like to ask whether command: fastboot oem lock, will set the tamper flag 0 or not. thank u for ur time..

    • @jamiewagner
      @jamiewagner  9 років тому

      Avi Singhal The Nexus 5 has implemented in the bootloader what is called a tamper flag. It will show if the bootloader was ever unlocked, You can check it by using this command, fastboot oem device-info If tamper flag value says true, then it needs reset.

    • @jamiewagner
      @jamiewagner  9 років тому

      Avi Singhal you will see something like this but they should read false on N5
      (bootloader) Device tampered: true
      (bootloader) Device unlocked: true

    • @avisinghal
      @avisinghal 9 років тому

      Jamie Lee Wagner I tried the command but all I got was a msg wch waited endlessly. Tried it 2 -3 times even after confirming device using adb devices. Still nothing. I really want to reset the tamper flag to 0. Any suggestions? P.S. I have locked the N5 using fastboot oem lock successfully.

    Thanks for the video Jamie!!! Helped me out of a jam on my Nexus 5. I do have an issue with my Nexus 7 though and wondering if you have any insight. It just shut itself off one day and won't go past the Google logo. I CAN get into fastboot mode but can't flash a factory image as my usb debugging is not enabled and I can't get in to boot. Help?!!! Running 5.1.1.
