- How to restore hard reset google nexus 5 phone android kitkat/lollipop/marshmallow in fastboot to stock factory settings. Can't unlock Nexus 5 Wipe all your user data, wipe the cache partition, complete a factory reset. Perform a factory hard reset using the bootloader recovery option to enter the android system recovery, then select wipe data/factory reset and all data will be wiped from your Nexus 5. Reset the Nexus 5 to factory settings, steps:
If your phone is on, power it off.
Press & hold Volume Down and Volume Up at the same time (press and hold in the center), then press & hold the power button simultaneously until the device turns on. You will see the word
Start with an arrow drawn around it.
Next:
Press Volume Down twice and choose Recovery mode.
Press the power button one time to restart into Recovery mode. You will see an image of an Android robot with a red exclamation mark.
Next:
Press and hold down the power button and press the Volume Up key one time. then release.
Use the volume keys to scroll to "wipe data/factory reset" and press the power button to select it.
Scroll down to "Yes - erase all user data" and press the power button to select it. The phone will then reboot to the Welcome Screen.
Note: If at any point during the above steps your phone becomes unresponsive, you can restart it by holding down the power button for several seconds.

If your phone doesn't show the green robot saying "Erasing" when it's at the "wiping data" part and it seems stuck at that stage, don't panic! Mine was stuck there for about 20 minutes not doing anything, but I just plugged in the charger and left it alone and it finally finished. Also, after I chose "reboot system now" it took about five minutes of the flying dots before it finally turned back on (much longer once again than his took in the video)
In my case, just "wipe data/factory reset" didn't do the trick. So, I first used the "wipe cache partition" option in the Recovery Mode and then did "wipe data/factory reset". This did the trick.

Akshaya Lakshmi Go watch my other videos on how to install the ADT bundle. Then you can connect your phone to your PC and watch my other video how to install google factory image. It requires a few steps and some time to do it correctly but it should fix your problem. Hopefully you have all of your stuff backed up because it will wipe out your phone to complete this process, but it works..
There isn't a way to unlock it without resetting it and losing everything?

great video. i have nexus 5 for some time. I am looking for a factor restore (like you said, from time to time just to refresh my phone and speed) I have recently got the lollipop and when i follow your instructions, it gets to the part where it says, no command. (nothing at the top that says reboot now) then it freezes with no command showing. I long hold power and lollipop comes right back as if nothing happened. all apps and pictures everything still there. i have already backed up what i wanted. just want to clean my phone and start over any help, i would like to clean my phone, then reinstall what i want. cheers. This is the most easy to understand video for factory reset. Thanks for that. However I have one question. My Nexus 5 has already updated to OTA Lollipop 5.0.1.
If I follow this video will I get my KITKAT 4.4.4 back or this will factory reset to Lollipop 5.0?

Vicente Nexus I used adb to sideload an image of Lollipop into my phone from a Linux machine (you can also do it on Windows). I didn't need any root permissions on the phone.
I HAVE PERFORMED WIPING DATA FORMATING / data which showes on the screen for 20 mins the screen is blank does not show the picture of the robot and the preformance of the wipe out/ forrmat. PLEASE HELP

When I try to enter on recovery mode, the screen just gets black, the little robot does not appear and the keys doesn't respond
+Zaulo you could try it again and see if it works sometimes it takes a couple of tries if not you might need to actually force flash your device with the image maybe your recovery partition is damaged or there may be another issue it should normally work most of the time

What do recovery mode means? What does it do to your phone?
Hi, the android recovery is just a bootable partition that has the recovery console installed. It allows you some options and to restore your phone back to factory condition. When you first purchased it.
CWN and TWRP make Nexus 5 boots a little slow.

Jamie Wagner ,, kindly help me ..my nexus 5 doent swtich on...when I have it plugged in to the charger, the device will flash the white Google logo for a second, vibrate once, then shut off.... it will repeat this process infinitely (without my interference... it just repeats showing the google logo, turns off, back on etc). When I hold down the volume button, I'll see the android robot for a moment, long enough to scroll up or down one time before it turns off and repeats the odd cycle. When I remove the charger from the device... it does nothing.... is there anything I can do?? Please help..... i tried pressing the power button too for long ... it doent work ,,, pls help

What does "Restart bootloader" exactly mean?
Restart means start one more time. Bootloader is a very tiny application that starts before the operating system. The bootloader loads the operating system from the storage memory to the random access memory.
This helped my nexus 5 which was put away 1 year ago. Thanks a lot!

It sounds like it might be, you can always try and unlock the bootloader and flash the factory firmware on it. That's like the last resort before you would have to send it back for warranty.

I successfully reset and wiped the data, but it didn't say "reboot system now" or anything when it was done. It showed me the android guy again, and it stayed there a while, but no options. My phone still cant turn on
The only thing I can think is they updated this now and it might not be the same exact process as I show in the video for everyone now since this video is several years old

I did that yesterday and it still didn't work... I wiped the phone completely and it's the same result

Really hope you can help.... Got this phone from a friend and its locked on the welcome screen and the touchscreen doesn't respond at all. Playing around with it I got the same screens you show but it always seems to just go right back to locked welcome screen and touchscreen won't respond to anything. PLEASE HELP!!! Any suggestions at all......
Scott Nelson I have other videos on my channel for this. You can actually power off the phone and then boot into the recovery screen from a powered off state.
