Some places can be completely cleared of many major parts and it's only the small signs and notices that can remind you of what is there.
Recorded with a Canon 600D / Panasonic SD60
Edited with Adobe Premiere CS5.
Colour Graded with Magic Bullet Looks.
Thanks Tina! Yeah it was pretty surreal with all the positive posters around but the building in such a state. Not too much left but was worth a passing visit.
Very nice footage and beautiful sound track.
Thanks RODALCO2007
RODALCO2007 wasps 😁😁
Yet again mysterious and so very well made .The track is spot on and some how the notices are apt .Pity the school didn't keep trying to stay open As for memories ... Many there .Great stuff , Thanks a lot ,
Helena
Great video. Especially love the shots of the posters "If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours" and "Take nothing but memories, leave nothing but footprints". The latter is a good motto for urbex (or any type of exploration) and the former is a good motto for life!
Nice video, as always! I like the opening shots with the movement of the gate; appropriately setting the scene.
My old school back in the 80s, brings back memories.......
Thanks Annalee, I'm glad you like the channel :)
Thanks Lina, I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
Hey Jack, it was probably your suggestion that prompted us to go. Yeah unfortunately the place is trashed and most major parts have been stripped but it was certainly an interesting walk around with just the little details remaining.
the music you chose really fits in with the mood of the video well done
Love it...as usual...amazing editing hats off..and a thousand thumbs up !
I was there about 3 years after you left, 1990 to 1992.
I've been in the school a few times, these passed few weeks and it is a Lot Smaller to me now. Back in the 90s it seemed quite big to me.
Search Nerston Residential School on facebook, for all the photos I took of the school, both inside and out.
Thanks Stephen, I hope they have a re-use for the place as well.
reminds me of the abandoned school I found up here in north scotland, still has gym equipment in it, classroom full of tools dumped, rat poison warning posters :S and a kitchen area with 80s style benches etc
Ace film! It's sad to see all the positive posters but left in a sad state. I like the old paint job showing through the flaked paint at 1:46
Such a poignant, lovely, and powerful video, as always!
I love all types of videos on urban exploration tbh :)
These buildings have all been demolished now... even the two nice sandstone houses.
Total waste!
+getitupyou Thats a shame, felt like these could have been re-used as it was in a nice area.
great quality video as always, and great location
I love abandoned places, glad I found your channel :)
I know you have listed the music source but each time there is a different source of music yet it still maintains the same atmospheric sound. Do you have a list of artists or a website that helps you to find this kind of music?
I love your videos please do keep them coming!
+Gaelic American Craic Will have loads more second half of the year watch this space ;)
Can't wait.
Great work. Keep it on!
Extremely amazing cinematic feel. Amazing
+Andrew Smart Thanks Andrew
Basically it closed as they amalgamated several schools to cut down costs, there really is a strange contrast between the positive messages and the poor state of the building.
Thanks Calum, I thought it did as well a great motto :)
a brilliant idea
Helena
Thanks Helen, the music is by The Sound of Rescue you should check them out :)
Excellent video as always :-)
great video, loved the quote at the end.
That place looks very fun to explore
Yeah the gate here hadn't opened in a while so even just to get it to move was a challenge
Haha thanks DeathNoteNear38, yeah we took a wee break over the holidays but still plenty to come :)
I liked the way you ended this video. It summed up your channel
Yeah it's a shame to see it left Sarah, unfortunately with it's location it will probably never be re-used but I hope they can find another purpose for it.
What a waste , hope they made over the place for some useful purpose . Thanks for the video bro , got to catch up some of old videos , as I miss out some lately !
Hehe, I hated her too, she accused my mother of neglecting me and my mother told her she was a frustrated old cow. Iain Smith was great, he got me into Bob Dylan with New Morning and More Greatest Hits albums on vinyl. What years were you there? I was there from 85 to 87, a small group of us went down to Birmingham to see Paul Simon for the Graceland tour, the mini bus broke down on the way but we eventually got to the concert.
Wow, these places have so many positive memories but alas have been left to ruin. What is the history of this school? Reminds me of my Elementary school.
What an extraordinary video. You should have like walking tours of these places i would defiantly love to explore abandoned buildings
Would make a grand house, or a bed and breakfast perhaps.. love the stonework.
you should buy that and start an Urban exploring academy.
"See someone without a smile give them one of yours" Now we know where happy slapping came from.
Thanks! :)
I would like to see more of the school . Thank you
Thanks :)
Great ! Favourited !
Planning Applications:Glasgow City Council have applied for permission to demolish Nerston Residential School,EK News 25/12/13.... if anyone is interested in taking a last look,of course if permission is granted that is.
Sounds interesting I'll have a look
Such a beautiful building... sad waste :(
I'm not on facebook but I still managed to view the photos, even saved a few of them. I remember Andrew Hogarth and Delia from the pages of those record books, I wonder if there are any more of them still inside somewhere?
good job
Aye went two this school and a was one off the last ones init was my best school if eny off the teachers see this thanks for the help Ryan brown💚💚
Hi there, was there a games hall in this school, or any particularly large, dark rooms?
Thanks
Thats a gem. I wonder where all the kids went?
Aye was one off the last persons init wee got moved all over Glasgow
Yeah that's the one.
Thanks thugie1 :)
Thanks NinjaCthulhu :)
I left here 20 years ago as a tiny kid, I had no idea it was turned into a special needs school and then abandoned.
I hated the head at the time Mrs Roberts, Ian Smith the deputy head took over from her after I left.
Haha seriously I'd love to have a centre place for Urban Explorers to meet up but unfortunately it would cost too much to run, maybe one day.
yes!! i mailed you ages ago about this place (other account though), the place has been trashed though, windows smashed and angry locals.
you should go to Drumpark School Bargeddie Baillieston Glasgow North Lanarkshire G69 7TW
Thanks DaNeZtheMaNeZ :)
Thanks 007vauxhall :)
Was that David Hebbington/Hemmington? I thought he was ok but could be pretty strict at times. I remember Marion Spiers, she came from Helensburgh, did you attend from 84 to 87? Because Marion left in 87 or did she come back to work there? She was around 17 when I knew her.
I used to go to nerston in the late 80s and Delia would sit on you to keep you on the ground not very PC boot days
Yeah it's a shame to see Larry, haha I can see why it could feel creepy it really was pitch black in there.
I also remember David and linda, Andy, Marion spears, they were what you call house parents, I was in blue dorm .... not a nice place to be when your just a wee kid. Was here 4 years. I would really like to catch up with David he was a bad house parent .... you know what I mean David!!!
Is this just up from Kingsgate Retail Park?
Bound to be plenty of residual energy there.
I bet it will be converted into luxury flats.
wheres this about xx
The schools locally amalgamated so I think most have went there.
there is an old abandoned school in newton stewart called woodlands school don't ken if its still there tht would be a good video
+Rab Bat Sounds interesting.
love the videos keep it up
echos of the past..and waste nothing but time
is this nerston school in eastkilbride if so I used to go there please let me know
+Rab Bat Hey Rab, it is indeed.
cool if ots the same one it should have a big paly area with a football field and an old house next it tht was kinda run down whn I went to the school it was school for kid tht where hyper and did not fit in a normal school
it was a school for special needs kids it's a very old school
She was quite hefty too.
