I had the privilege to spend the night in Balintore Castle in Oct. 2023. Unfortunately we weren't able to tour any of the rest of the castle because there was none of the workers or David there that day. I love that he is saving this building.
i had afternoon tea with david in the kitchen come bathrom of balintore! yes he started off with a bath in the corner of the kitchen lol I really admire what david has done I haven't been back for 3 years and yet live 30 mins away but i know his time is precious so i watch his blog As a paranormal investigator I got ton s of photos and loved the ballroom ! I see the bay window has glass ! yay well done david its great to see this on utube as its important to keep our scottish history alive thanks for this update! really enjoyed it!x
Thank goodness the local council had the guts and foresight to do a compulsory purchase before it got beyond saving, well done, more should do the same thing so many more buildings being lost due to red tape.
Would love to see "finished product" if ever possible? Thank you for all you do so we are able to enjoy the ability to see castles like this one in which we never would any other way.
As I drove doing my deliveries as a courier last week. I delivered to a cottage in that area, the first time I’d ever been along the that winding track, the views were stunning. Then, turning yet another bend in the road emerged this giant breathtaking sight! I had to stop the van and stare. I had no idea what I was looking at. I didn’t see any signs for it. When i finally got 4G again later that day I had to retrace my route on the map to find it again. And even then it wasn’t stamped or acknowledged on google satellite map images. I only found the name when I dropped a pin on the map. Now I’m reading up and watching videos. But this all just added to the mystery for me. I’m fascinated
It always saddens me to see so many magnificent castles being left abandoned and which decay through time. Such a shame... I'm glad that there are people like David who would spent the time and money to restore them! It's funny because the other day I was just looking at this French castle called "Château de la Mothe-Chandeniers". Absolutely stunning but really sad it is left in this condition... Thank you for this video :)
A wonderful place in a stunning landscape! Excellent video! I love abandoned places; but there are not such huge castles in my region... Thank you for sharing and many greetings from Berlin, Carlino Negro!
Great that they are going too restorate the castle, but its going too cost more than a arm and a leg too do so, i hope they succeed. Also love this type off video loved watching it.
Ha-ha! Just like the USA, where I am sure there are many dialects used as well! We'll just have to kidnap you, and put you through an intensive course, of speaking lalland Scots, Doric and the Gaelic of the beautiful west coast of the highlands!............................old Tich.
Well it is maybe something to do with the fact, that we are not English, and have so many different dialects of speaking the guid Scot's tongue, as well as the native Gaelic as well!.............................old Tich.
It's not a castle! It's a Scotch Baronial country house. Knowing that will allow for a better-informed reconstruction. While I admire the work being done it would be nice to consider all the Indians whose lives were ruined by the so-called Honourable East India Company Service (HEICS). The British Empire has a lot to answer for.
The good achieved by the empire outweighs the bad .... and I say that as someone who comes from a country that was part of the empire !!! The self flaggelation so beloved by those on the left as you apply today's standards and expectations on yesteryear never ceases to amaze me .....
It’s wonderful to see this proud castle be restored. And .. nothing like listening to a voice of a Scotsman.
This is for sure!!!!

@@AbandonedScotland Have you ever considered doing a follow up series revisiting each location ? Might make for an interesting series
Excellent, this one is going to be saved.
Thanks Ice Daemon, glad you enjoyed it. :)
Let us know if you'd like to see some more commentary videos.
It's nice to have commentary, but it would be quite nice to have a variety :)
Yes, give us more! I love the voice over!
More commentary videos would be great, even if it was just a short intro on the featured building.
I enjoy the initial instrumental video, and then having a commentary to follow it up is lovely.
I certainly would

Is there an edition of this clip in English? Just kidding, I'm in the U.S. so the Scottish probably think we don't speak English anyway!

Subtitles would help. His accent is so heavy, part of it is unintelligible.
Its almost impossible to follow

There is now a transcript on every video so you can easily follow what's being said ....
