Abandoned Milkbank House - SCOTLAND

- After driving to a lot of locations and failing access due to them being sealed we all ended up exploring this ruin, it was nice to catch up with some friends again that i haven't seen for a while. If any of you guys love old ruins, castles etc in Scotland then check out these guys "The Twa Togs Adventures" as they document these places and get deep into the history of them

Growing up on Long Island in the 60's and 70's, friends and I would go exploring the abandoned estates of the Gold Coast. We discovered mansions left untouched due to the taxes - silk draperies in tatters, parquet ballroom floors warped and personal possesions left behind in abundance but it still can't compare with the centuries of history you explore in Scotland. I have a realtor's map from 1924 showing the 'country' estates on the North Shore of the Guggenheims, Pratts, Vanderbilts, the whos who of the NY wealthy. That's how we found them before the bulldozers. I have fabulous memories, including evading the police, and that's why I enjoy watching your videos. Oh, to go back in time and record what we discovered in the ruins of the rich.
In addition to that, I can also say I saw the Beatles in Shea Stadium, have film and photo, how great is that?

In the first place, the living space looks like it would have been cozy! In the second one, that fireplace was amazing! I have a fondness for mansions and castles!

That old baronial style manor house would have been spectacular in its day & still has some beautiful details.
Wow great explore. The second building must have been beautiful. The fireplace and entry porch stunning. Nature taking over, amazing, loved the cheeky group photos. Take care I'd hate to see you guys disappear through a floor x

The big pile of bark/chippings looks new. When we were young we would climb/bounce on any that we found, and so they would spread. So it looks like they have recently cut down their wood and milled off the rubbish ( to sell in garden centres ).
Love the fireplace. I bags the (warm) room above for my bedroom.
House built for comfort and attractive features for residents. Must have been very grand at one time. Still occupied for some years after I was born.

It would be really vool to hear some history about these places.
The tiles on the floor if you had poured a little water onto them you would have seen the true colour.Truly magnificent

That HUGE fireplace and mosaic style flooring looked awesome! Loved the explore Alec! Good to see Rob, I haven’t seen him in awhile. 😊. Should’ve packed your willies so you can slush thru the swamp. 😂

There's a proud, serene magnificence about buildings like these, as though they will never surrender to destruction, only nature.
I liked the old stables. They valued their horses.
The well-tiled place was kennels
The once finely furnished old rooms furnished with tree trunks & ferns now.
I have never seen a floor plan and exterior so amazing! Unbelievable.
Too dangerous for a lot to be exploring on the 2nd floor where the floor was missing!
I love how its built. Especially the part by the "swamp", as you called it lol. It's so pretty omg.
I wonder if the first house was a care home because it has a disabled access ramp & a hand rail along the corridoor.

The last mansion was amazing, it looks like the roof was removed.
Many large mansion houses were too expensive to live in, so the roofs were removed so they didn't need to pay rates.
I think that may have happened to that house.
The huge fireplace is amazing, and that floor with the thistle design too.

@@325Bertie Yes, if a building had the roof removed there were no rates payable. Council tax took over from rates.
I had no idea. What kind of council?
@@325Bertie I take it that you're not from the UK. We have to pay Council Tax, it pays for local services. The more money that the house you live in is worth, the more expensive it is.
My house is£116 a month for the Council tax. A mansion will cost more than £1000 a month!

No doubt a most comfortable residence at one point. A tad dangerous now. If the slates don't fall on your head the holes in the floor might swallow you.

Great explore alec shame it's been left to rot away and fall down I was concerned about the pregnant lassie been in there incase she tripped up or something fell on her but thankfully your all safe and well that's the main thing cany wait till the next yin atb 👌👍
